  • Patent number: 4730545
Abstract: An axial piston device with a plurality of mechanically actuated, rotory valves having their front faces sealing for the control of flows of fluid is suggested for the connection of ports of its housing to ingoing and outgoing passages of a combustion engine or of other pump arrangements, motoring or transmission arrangements. The device includes working chambers which periodically contract and expand their volumes to take in and expel flows of fluid from the working chambers to and through the valves to the ports and for reversed flow direction. The device is thereby specifically suitable for the communication to external combustion chambers which burn coal powder fuel and which are provided with means to remove, in the external combustion chamber or in a passage, unclean particles from the hot gases before they enter into the expander unit of the device.

  • Patent number: 4730988
Abstract: A cup-like device, called a deturbulator, having a solid base portion and vertically oriented finger-like elements extending therefrom is disposed in the oil sump of a refrigeration compressor so that the base portion is spaced from the bottom of the oil sump. The compressor has a mechanical stirrer which is driven through the sump oil when the compressor is in operation to purposefully agitate the oil in order to create a sound attenuating blanket of foam within the compressor shell. The stirrer is disposed interior of the deturbulator so that the turbulence created by the stirrer in the oil agitation process is localized and contained within the interior of the deturbulator. The bottom of the oil sump, wherein debris normally collects, is therefore shielded from turbulence which would otherwise tend to stir the debris into the oil. The finger-like elements of the deturbulator both act to break up any wave action in the sump oil and to facilitate the production of foam to quiet the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4730546
Abstract: A bush assembly is inserted into the rotor hub around a cylindrical control body which is partially extending into the bush to fill the interior of the bush. In such device, where fluid flows through the control body and the working chambers in the rotor of the machine, leakage escaped through the clearance between the control body and the rotor. Due to the novel bush assembly the respective high pressure is led through passages which extend half way around the bush into recesses diametrically located in the bush. There the pressure is utilized to press respective seal-portions towards the control body to at least partially seal the escape of leakage, while maintaining a radial pressure balance between the control body and the bush.

  • Patent number: 4729718
Abstract: The inclination angle of the wobble plate in a wobble plate type compressor is changed to obtain a discharge capacity in accordance with a cooling load. A spring is provided to adjust the inclination angle of the wobble plate in cooperation with the pressure force acting upon the pistons connected to the wobble plate, and thus the pressure in the suction chamber corresponding to the temperature of the exhausted air is kept at a constant level. That is, the temperature of the exhausted air is kept at a constant level suitable for maintaining a desired cooling condition in a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4729722
Abstract: A turbo compressor mounted upon a hollow box-like housing is provided with a noise suppressor which includes a rectangular open ended box-like structure suspended from the housing by flexible walled tubes which constitute an air inlet and an air outlet to the housing through which air flows to prevent heat build up within the housing. The suppressor walls are lined with a sound absorbent material which, combined with the non-rigid suspension of the suppressor from the housing and the non-linear air entrance and exit paths to and from the housing, suppresses sound generated by flow of high pressure air from the compressor into the housing through a shaft bearing. Noise generated by the flow of air into the compressor inlet is reduced by blocking the inlet with a block of porous foamed plastic material which also functions as an inlet filter.

  • Patent number: 4728264
Abstract: A fuel delivery system which includes a fuel pump and a dc motor, which are preferably contained within a unitary housing. A pressure-sensitive switch, which is either contained within the unitary pump/motor housing or as a separate structure, includes a movable contact positioned within a housing so as to form a first chamber for receiving fuel under pressure and a second chamber for venting to atmosphere. A spring urges the movable contact against a second contact for applying electrical power to the pump motor. When the pump output pressure exceeds the force exerted on the movable contact by the spring, electrical conduction between the switch contacts is broken and motor power is interrupted. Current to the pump motor is thus pulse-width modulated as a function of pump output pressure, fuel demand, and the adjustable force exerted by the pressure switch spring.

  • Patent number: 4724743
Abstract: In a radial piston pump, motor, transmission the deep diving or entering piston shoe is utilized and swingably borne in the pivot-bed of the radially reciprocating piston. Since deep diving piston shoes have large piston strokes, the shoes pivot in the pistons in large angles. Thereby a considerable force - portion of the load on the piston is transferred to the wall between the piston and the cylinder, whereby heretofore short pistons occasionally produced welding and sticking between the cylinder wall and the piston wall. The piston therefore receives radially extending portions, which may extend beyond the medial portion of the piston shoe and may even enter into the ring groove of the piston stroke actuator ring. Thereby a very long guidance of the piston on cylinder wall portions is obtained, which makes the application of effective pressure balancing pockets at correct location between piston wall and cylinder wall possible.

  • Patent number: 4725204
Abstract: Vacuum pumping system comprises a plurality of vacuum processing vessels, semiconductor processing reactors, and the like, connected to a common manifold evacuated by a generously large central vacuum unit. The manifold is maintained at a substantially constant designated pre-set pressure higher than the pressures within the reactors by means of a gas bleed inlet valve controllably feeding an inert gas into the manifold. A blower package with valving, interposed between each reactor and the common manifold, discharges directly into the manifold and prevents pressure surges and excursions in the manifold and reactors as well as permitting each reactor to operate at different pressures independently of the existing manifold pressure.
