  • Patent number: 4723477
Abstract: A control arrangement to control the flow of fluid through pumps, motors, transmission, engines has an eccentric shoulder assembled into a respective thrust chamber in a portion of the housing to be pressed against the rotary seal face of the rotor of the device. Such arrangements are known from some of my earlier patents and have served satisfactorily, but with the desire to improve the pressures further, it has been found, that arrangements are required to prevent the control body from slight rotation, under which it otherwise would stick. The arrangement provides the means to prevent the rotation and sticking by defining a relationship between eccentricities and gravity centers in order to reduce the tendency to stick. Pins and pins with eccentric and adjustable portions are also used to prevent the tendency to stick and so are pluralities of eccentrically arranged individual thrust chambers and control body portions.

  • Patent number: 4718825
Abstract: A pump stroke is matched to the operating speed of a high speed windmill. The windmill drives a hydraulic pump for a control. Changes in speed of a wind driven shaft open supply and exhaust valves to opposite ends of a hydraulic actuator to lengthen and shorten an oscillating arm thereby lengthening and shortening the stroke of an output pump. Diminishing wind to a stall speed causes the valves to operate the hydraulic cylinder to shorten the oscillating arm to zero. A pressure accumulator in the hydraulic system provides the force necessary to supply the hydraulic fluid under pressure to drive the actuator into and out of the zero position in response to the windmill shaft speed approaching and exceeding windmill stall speed.

  • Patent number: 4718824
Abstract: A control process for a rotary pump which is immersed in a fluid produced by a well involves the use of a rotary pump driven by a variable speed motor and comprises the steps of acting upon the rotational speed of the motor according to a pressure difference which exists between the pressure of the fluid measured in the proximity of the pump and the production pressure of the well. The production pressure P of the well being given by the formula:P=P.sub.G -Q/I.sub.pwherein P.sub.G is equal to the pressure of the unused deposit; that is, the pressure of the fluid deposit when the fluid deposit is at rest and there is no production of the well, Q equals the pump flow rate according to the motor rotation speed and I.sub.p is equal to the well productivity indication.

  • Patent number: 4718834
Abstract: A continuous flow of cooling liquid is provided to a liquid ring pump conveying a flow of gas, such that the cooling liquid simultaneously acts as the working liquid in the pump. Gas that becomes dissolved in the cooling fluid during pumping is separated therefrom and is returned to join the pump gas inlet flow, and the cooling liquid is thereafter discharged to carry away any heat picked up from the pump. In an aspect of this invention, the degassing of dissolved gas from the exhaust cooling water flow leaving the pump is facilitated by forming a spray in a low-pressure degasser connected to the pump gas inlet.

  • Patent number: 4718836
Abstract: A completely dry fluid-tight reciprocating vacuum pump comprises one or more pumping chambers defined between two rigid parts which face one another in the axial direction. One is reciprocated in a straight line relative to the other. They are connected to one another by at least one axially flexible member of appropriate radial stiffness. Each of these members comprises an outside part fixed to a first of these rigid parts. The side of the first rigid part facing the flexible member is shaped to have a profile in diametral cross-section which is substantially the same as the profile in diametral cross-section that this member tends to assume, by virtue of its stiffness, in the configuration with the aforementioned rigid parts moved towards one another. The pump can be used for pumping corrosive and radioactive gases, such as tritium, for example.

  • Patent number: 4715787
Abstract: Coaxial, two-cylindered air compressor, more specifically an air compressor capable of continuous air exhausting and air feeding, has a cylinder provided at either end of a main frame; to the underside of the main frame is extended a link so that serves to displace pistons in both cylinders, that by the provision of a crank pin both are fitted by articulation to the shaft side of a crank case, so as to facilitate engagement of the motor on top of the main frame with reduction gears on the upper side of the shaft lever by means of transmission gears on the shaft center, thereby setting the crank case to rotation, so that both of the cylinders may exhaust and suck air in a continuous manner, thereby reducing airfeeding, and airsucking time.

  • Patent number: 4715785
Abstract: A probe is mounted on a water submersible pump housed within a transformer vault. The probe will extend into any water which accumulates in the bottom of the transformer vault enabling a conductive path to be established through an appropriate electric circuit to the pump motor to permit operation of the pump so that the water which is on the bottom of the vault can be safely pumped from the vault. As the water level falls as it is pumped, oily fluids, which are immiscible in the water and will normally rise to a level above the water level in the vault, will come in contact with the probe to form an electrical insulator to inactivate the circuit to disconnect a power source from the pump motor.

  • Patent number: 4710106
Abstract: The device of this invention has a variable capacity pump, a channel through which the discharged fluid from the pump passes toward an actuator, a variable choke located in the channel and pressure detecting means which detects the pressure difference on opposite sides of the variable choke. The pump varies its volume in relation with the pressure difference detected by the pressure detecting means. The opening area of the channel is varied by the variable choke in relation with the pressure of the fluid being supplied to the actuator, namely the pressure of the fluid flowing downstream of the variable choke. The device of this invention may also have an auxiliary variable choke located in the channel. The auxiliary variable choke can control the amount of fluid being supplied to the actuator in response to the operating condition of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 4708594
Abstract: A method of starting a variable-speed pump turbine or a variable-speed pump driven by a variable-speed generator motor or a variable-speed motor connected to an electric power line in parallel therewith. The generator motor or the motor is first operated at low speed with the guide vanes or the delivery valve fully closed. The low speed is lower than a stable starting speed of the pump turbine or the motor but high enough to prevent backward flow of water into the pump turbine or the pump. After the operation is set at the low speed, the guide vanes or the delivery valve are opened and the opening degree is gradually opened until the speed is increased to a speed optimum for the steady operating condition of the pump turbine or pump. This method effectively suppresses abrupt increase in the pump input power required for the driving of the pump turbine or the pump, whereby unfavorable effect on the electric power line is avoided advantageously.

  • Patent number: 4708596
Abstract: A pressure and delivery regulating device for an adjustable pump includes a directional control valve connected in a discharge conduit and to a control conduit branching from the discharge conduit between the pump and the directional control valve. The control conduit leads to a setting piston for the adjustment of the pump. The directional control valve is controlled by a solenoid which in turn is controlled by a control system consisting of a regulating circuit, a delivery limiting circuit and a control circuit for the solenoid. The output signal from the regulating circuit controls a desired delivery value signal supplied to the delivery limiting circuit. A follow-up circuit connected between the regulating circuit and the delivery limiting circuit corrects the regulating signal and a circuit for producing a direction dependent signal from the actual pressure provides a damping of the regulating circuit.
