  • Patent number: 5291173
Abstract: A high-frequency, low-profile transformer having at least one pair of magnetic poles includes a primary winding having a z-folded, continuous primary conductive film with a generally serpentine configuration disposed on a primary dielectric membrane and further includes a z-folded, continuous secondary winding constructed from a plurality of secondary conductive film portions disposed on a secondary dielectric membrane. Each of the secondary conductive film portions is configured to form a single continuous path enclosing each of the magnetic poles in such manner that each path encloses one pole of each pair of the magnetic poles of each adjacent layer of the secondary winding. Each path thus continues along a respective fold of the winding stack. The secondary winding layers are interleaved with the primary winding layers and electrically connected together.

  • Patent number: 5291172
Abstract: A noise absorber provided with a fixture disposed at a flank of a body, thereby improving the positionability of the noise absorber and easy access thereto for handling. The body and the fixture are integrally connected by engaging a first engaging portion provided on the body with a second engaging portion on the fixture. When the body and the fixture are connected, the bottom of the body and the bottom surface of the fixture are at the same height, thereby coordinately supporting the noise absorber on a chassis or a printed board. Since the fixture is provided at the flank of the body on the same level, the height of the noise absorber as a whole is reduced. The noise absorber is thus advantageous for positioning in a location with limited space. Moreover, since the fixture to be handled is positioned at the flank of the body for easy access, the noise absorber of this invention can be easily fitted or disassembled.

  • Patent number: 5264814
Abstract: An electrical noise absorber comprising a magnetic body like ferrite attached around a flat cable and a fixing member. The fixing member comprises an inserting portion having a through hole for passing the magnetic body therethrough. Opposite walls defining the through hole extend in the direction, in which the magnetic body is inserted, to form a pair of cable fixing arms. Each of the cable fixing arms has a slot and projections for engaging the side edges of the flat cable. Engaging portions for engaging the periphery of the magnetic body inserted into the fixing members are provided on the top and bottom of the inserting portion. The flat cable and the magnetic body can thus be held immobile by the fixing members of the electrical noise absorber.

  • Patent number: 5250923
Abstract: A conductor pattern for forming coils and lead-out electrodes which are led out from the coils are formed on a magnetic substance sheet. Furthermore, said magnetic substance sheet is provided with through-holes for connecting the conductor patterns. The magnetic substance sheets disposed respectively just over and just under the conductor pattern that becomes the lead-out electrodes are coated with non-magnetic material paste. A laminated chip common mode choke coil is produced by laminating these magnetic substance sheets and baking them integrally and thereafter forming external electrodes. The non-magnetic material diffuses into the magnetic substance sheet by baking the lamination of the magnetic substance sheets, and the permeability of that portion becomes low. Therefore, the magnetic reluctance around the lead-out electrode becomes high, thus reducing leakage flux around that portion. Thereby, coupling between two coils formed in the choke coil becomes good.

  • Patent number: 5248952
Abstract: A finished transformer core (48) includes a core (2) of wound amorphous transformer core material (4) to which rigidifying bonding material (22) is applied to the ends (12, 14) of the core. The bonding material does not cover the entire ends but leaves gaps (24) to permit fluid flow between the ambient environment and the interlamination voids (16) which exist between the layers (18, 20) of the wound material. The core, rigidified by the bonding material, is housed within a fluid permeable containment assembly (28). The containment assembly typically includes fluid permeable filter material (32, 34, 36, 38) which allows transformer oil and air to pass through the material but will trap solid particles of core material within the containment assembly.

  • Patent number: 5239290
Abstract: A magnetic core, for use in fluxgate magnetometers or gradiometers, for example, comprises a pair of coaxial coils constituted by strips of permeable magnetic material oppositely wound on a non-magnetic cylindrical tube. At each of their opposite ends, the coils terminate in planes perpendicular to the length of the tube. In the manufacture of a core, the strips at each end of the coils may be joined to each other to form a lap extending along the length of the tube. In one embodiment, strip portions extending beyond the respective planes, including a portion of each lap, are cut off and removed. In another embodiment, the entire lap at each end is removed after the strips at each end are welded to each other. By virtue of the core construction, the signal-to-noise ratio of saturable core measuring devices using the cores is substantially improved.
