  • Publication number: 20120152565
Abstract: A downhole releasable tubular connection includes a joint between two tubing strings, wherein one of the two tubing strings is radially expanded and plastically deformed by an expansion device. When the expansion device is moved adjacent to the joint, a threaded connection mechanism in the joint reacts to the radially outward forces of the expansion device and releasably expands, thereby decoupling the tubing strings.

  • Patent number: 8146294
Abstract: A door locking system includes a first door and a second door positioned adjacent to each other and one of which is a sliding door. A mounting plate is mounted on the first door adjacent to the second door. A hinge plate has a hinged edge hingedly coupled to the mounting plate and is selectively positioned in a deployed position extending outwardly from the mounting plate. A stop includes a leg and an arcuate arm attached to the leg. The leg and arm are each hingedly coupled to the mounting plates and traverse the hinge plate. The stop releasably engages the hinge plate when the hinge plate is in the deployed position to retain the hinge plate in the deployed position and prevent the sliding of the first and second doors with respect to each other.

  • Publication number: 20110251150
Abstract: Provided herein are methods for the treatment of liver cancer. These methods encompass the administration of a compound comprising a modified oligonucleotide, wherein the modified oligonucleotide is targeted to a miRNA. Also provided herein are compositions for the treatment of liver cancer. Such compositions include compounds comprising a modified oligonucleotide, wherein the modified oligonucleotide is targeted to a miRNA. Certain miRNAs have been identified as overexpressed in liver cancer, such as, for example, hepatocellular carcinoma, and are thus selected for targeting by modified oligonucleotides. Further, certain miRNAs have been identified as overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma cells exposed to dioxin, and are thus selected for targeting by modified oligonucleotides. Antisense inhibition of certain of these miRNAs has been found to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis.

  • Patent number: 7784592
Abstract: A method is provided for balancing a disc brake rotor having a first annular friction plate, a second annular friction plate, and a core gap. The first annular friction plate includes a first circumferential surface. The second annular friction plate includes a second circumferential surface. Respective regions are determined for removing material within the first circumferential surface and the second circumferential surface for balancing the disc brake rotor if the disc brake rotor is out of balance. A rotary straddle cutting tool is aligned with respective regions of the first circumferential surface and the second circumferential surface. Material is cut from the respective regions of the first circumferential surface and the second circumferential surface with the rotary straddle cutting tool. Cutting material from the respective regions includes removing material within the width of the first circumferential surface and the second circumferential surface.

  • Publication number: 20100076346
Abstract: An orthotic device/system and method including at least one energy storage component and at least one trigger component which prevents release of the stored energy until the desired point in the movement cycle of an extremity. Use of the device/system and method permits, among other things, the orthosis to capture energy from the force present between a patient and a supporting surface and return it at a specified point in the movement cycle of the subject's extremity.

  • Patent number: 7317736
Abstract: A system and method for reliable delivery of datagram protocol data unit (PDU) packets generated by a network oriented application at a first computing network element to a second computing network element across a network. The method steps include: at the first computing network element, capturing generated datagram packets destined for the second computing network element; determining a size of a payload associated with the datagram and communicating the size of the payload to the second computing element via a reliable connection-oriented transport service PDU; communicating the actual payload to the second computing element via the reliable connection-oriented transport service PDU; and, at the second computing network element, utilizing payload size and payload to reconstruct a datagram PDU including the payload for a network application at the second computing network element. By this technique, reliable datagram PDU transport over the network is ensured.
