  • Publication number: 20160288385
Abstract: A vertical injection molding machine is provided with a base, a lower mold mounting unit, an injection device, a pressing mold unit, and an upper mold mounting unit. Since the pressing mold unit and the injection device are all disposed on the upper seat of the base, and therefore are located above the lower seat, the lower mold mounting unit, the upper mold and the lower mold. With this design, the height to the ground from the lower seat can be substantially reduced. Namely, the heights of the lower seat, the lower mold mounting unit and the upper and lower molds with respect to the user are reduced to an ergonomic height, which makes operation of the injection molding easier and convenient, while reducing danger and enhancing work safety.

  • Publication number: 20160287071
Abstract: Methods of performing en face Doppler total retinal blood flow measurement are disclosed. The methods involve obtaining a set of structural OCT scans; calculating a noise-reduced set of Doppler phase shift images by dividing the full spectrum OCT fringe data into a set of narrower filtered frequency bands for phase shift calculation; removing bulk motion along a depth direction; detecting retinal vessels in the set of images; applying a phase unwrapping algorithm to the images; classifying the vessels as veins and arteries; and calculating total retinal blood flow based on that classification.

  • Patent number: 9433346
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a video game to map macular visual acuity comprising a test where a fixation point is ensured by brief simultaneous presentation of central and pericentral targets. The game may be implemented on a hardware platform including a video display, a user input device, and a video camera. The camera is used to monitor ambient light level and the distance between the device and the eyes of the test subject. The game serves as a macular acuity perimeter that produces a map of the acuity of an eye that may be compared with normative data. The type of acuity tested is preferably Vernier acuity, but resolution acuity can also be tested. The test results are transmitted to a health care professional by telecommunications means to facilitate the diagnosis or monitoring of age-related macular degeneration or other relevant eye diseases.

  • Publication number: 20160232427
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting a gold nanorod (GNR) contrast agent in an optical coherence tomography (OCT) image of a sample are disclosed. In one example approach, a method comprises separating the OCT image at the location into short and long wavelength halves around a center wavelength of the OCT system, calculating a ratio between the short and long wavelength halves, and indicating a gold nanorod contrast agent at the location based on the ratio. In some examples, spectral fractionation may be employed to further divide the short and long wavelength halves into sub-bands to increase spectral contrast, reduce noise, and increase accuracy in detecting GNR in a sample.

  • Publication number: 20160157737
Abstract: Impaired intraocular blood flow within vascular beds in the human eye is associated with certain ocular diseases including, for example, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. A reliable method to quantify blood flow in the various intraocular vascular beds could provide insight into the vascular component of ocular disease pathophysiology. Using ultrahigh-speed optical coherence tomography (OCT), a new 3D angiography algorithm called split-spectrum amplitude-decorrelation angiography (SSADA) was developed for imaging microcirculation within different intraocular regions. A method to quantify SSADA results was developed and used to detect perfusion changes in early stage ocular disease. Associated embodiments relating to methods for quantitatively measuring blood flow at various intraocular vasculature sites, systems for practicing such methods, and use of such methods and systems for diagnosing certain ocular diseases are herein described.

  • Publication number: 20150265344
Abstract: A cardiac treatment system of the subject technology provides access across an interatrial septum of a patient. Such a treatment system can include a catheter having an ablation treatment device on an outer surface of a distal region thereof. A needle is provided at least partially within a lumen of the catheter. A control unit is operatively connected to the ablation treatment device for ablation of a portion of a septum by RF ablation. A distal end of a catheter is provided to the septum (e.g., at the fossa ovalis) of the patient while a distal tip of the needle is within the lumen and proximal to the distal end of the catheter. The distal tip of the needle punctures and crosses the septum, and a portion of the septum is ablated with an ablation treatment device aligned with the septum by guidance from the needle.
