  • Publication number: 20080064741
Abstract: The present invention relates to non-steroidal ligands for use in nuclear receptor-based inducible gene expression system, and a method to modulate exogenous gene expression in which an ecdysone receptor complex comprising: a DNA binding domain; a ligand binding domain; a transactivation domain; and a ligand is contacted with a DNA construct comprising: the exogenous gene and a response element; wherein the exogenous gene is under the control of the response element and binding of the DNA binding domain to the response element in the presence of the ligand results in activation or suppression of the gene.

  • Publication number: 20070275044
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel drug delivery technology. More particularly the invention relates to a method of delivering at least one therapeutic compound or a formulation comprising the at least one therapeutic compound to a patient; to a throwaway or reusable device for delivering at least one therapeutic compound or a formulation comprising the at least one therapeutic compound to a patient in a manner as set out by the method; to a pioneer projectile for use in said method; to formulations for use in said method and to an injectate comprising a pioneer projectile and formulation. It also relates to a disposable component containing either a pioneer projectile or an injectate. The invention also relates to a throwaway or reusable device for delivering at least one therapeutic compound, or a formulation comprising the at least one therapeutic compound (hereafter drug) to a patient, and a method for administering a drug to a patient using said device.

  • Publication number: 20070233417
Abstract: System and method for measurement, DAQ, and control operations which uses small form-factor measurement modules or cartridges with a re-configurable carrier unit, sensors, and a computer system to provide modular, efficient, cost-effective measurement solutions. The measurement module includes measurement circuitry, e.g., signal conditioner and/or signal conversion circuitry, and interface circuitry for communicating with the carrier unit. The module communicates interface information to the carrier unit, which informs the computer system how to program or configure a functional unit on the carrier unit to implement the communicated interface, or sends the information directly to the computer system. The computer system programs the carrier unit with the interface, and the programmed carrier unit and measurement module together function as a DAQ, measurement, and/or control device.

  • Publication number: 20070171084
Abstract: A personal safety device (21) comprises a casing (22) having a torch (23) and a smoke detector at opposite ends. When not in use, the smoke detector is protoected by an end cap (33) making a water tight seal with the casing (22). The end cap (33) is biased to slide away from the casing (22) when unlatched, exposing a louvered chamber (9) containing the smoke detector. The smoke detector is automatically activated when the chamber (9) is exposed, and should it detect a fire operates both an audible alarm (30) and the torch (23). Buttons (35, 36) are provided to allow activation of the audible alarm (30) as an attack alarm or controllably as a signaling device. The torch (23) compriss one or a plurality of white LEDs (26) for conventional illumination and optionally a red LED (27) for signaling and for illumanition without loss of night vision.
