The striking unit can strike a bit partially inserted in the sleeve through the open end. The chuck includes a ring, a tube, a spring and a ball. The tube includes a polygonal section movably inserted in the polygonal section of the bore of the sleeve, a circular section extended through the ring, an annular rib formed thereon, a polygonal bore for receiving the bit, and at least one aperture in communication with the polygonal bore. The spring is compressed between the annular rib and the sleeve. The ball includes a portion placed in the aperture and another portion movable into the polygonal bore.

    Abstract: A tool includes a chuck connected to a handle. The chuck includes a mandrel including a non-circular cavity defined therein, a slit in communication with the non-circular cavity, a first bore in communication with the non-circular cavity, and a second bore in communication with the slit. A bit with a non-circular profile can be inserted in the non-circular cavity. A flat bit can be inserted in the slit. A ball is located in the first bore. A pin is located in the second bore. A movable sleeve is located around and movable along the mandrel and formed with a thread. A rotary sleeve is rotationally located around the mandrel and formed with a thread engaged with the thread of the movable sleeve. By rotating the rotary sleeve, the movable sleeve pushes the ball into the non-circular cavity and the pin into the slit.

The shell is rotationally provided around the frame between two one-way modes in each of which a related one of the pushers pushes the blocks of two related ones of the pawls to disengage the teeth of the two pawls from the teeth of the gear.

The second pusher is movably located around the cylinder and abutted against the ball. The sleeve is movably located on the cylinder and formed with first and second annular ribs on an internal side thereof. The first rib is abutted against the second pusher while the second rib is abutted against the ball so that the ball is kept in the aperture while the second pusher is retained around the cylinder.
