  • Publication number: 20100242572
Abstract: Methods and systems to measure simultaneously concentrations or concentration ratio(s) of two or more gas ingredients in a sample area comprising: a wavelength modulated light source; an acoustic detector or a photodetector; and means to analyze the signal from the acoustic detector or the photodetector and calculate the concentrations or concentration ratio(s). The light from the light source is transmitted through the sample area. Part of the light will be absorbed in the sample area by the gas ingredients and generates photoacoustic signal. The acoustic detector is used to sample the photoacoustic signal. Alternatively, a photodetector is used to sample the light intensity after the light is transmitted through the sample area.

  • Publication number: 20100182024
Abstract: A system and method for measuring a cable resistance in a power over Ethernet (PoE) application. A short circuit module in a powered device is designed to produce a short circuit effect upon receipt of a cable resistance detection voltage. The cable resistance detection voltage can be designed to be greater than a voltage for detection or classification and less than a voltage for powering of the powered device. The measurement of the current at a time when a short circuit effect is produced at the powered device enables a calculation of the actual resistance of the cable on a given PoE port.

  • Publication number: 20100037325
Abstract: A pay-per-use computer, or other electronic device that uses local security, may use a security module or other circuit for monitoring and enforcement of a usage policy. To help prevent physical attacks on the security module, or the circuit board near the security module, a second circuit may be mounted over the security module to help prevent access to the security module. Both circuits may be mounted on a interposer and the interposer mounted to the circuit board, creating a stack including the first circuit, the interposer, the security module, and a main PC board. When the PC board includes dense signal traces under the security module a three dimensional envelope is created around the security module. When the first circuit is a high value circuit, such as a Northbridge, the risk/reward of attacking the security module is increased substantially and may deter all but the most determined hackers.

  • Patent number: 7634734
Abstract: In response to a user instruction to initiate media playback, which instruction may come from a dedicated media playback hardware button or from a user interface on a display screen, a computer operating system activates a predesignated media playback user account. The account may be limited to access of media playback applications and files located within shared directories. The operating system also launches a media playback application in response to the user instruction to initiate media playback. Instead of activating an account in response to a media playback instruction, the operating system can execute a media player application within a login screen.

  • Publication number: 20090307081
Abstract: The disclosed technology provides systems, architectures, and methods for providing to a Web page electronic advertisements related to the content of the Web page. In one aspect, the disclosed technology manages and serves electronic advertisements for affiliated Web page publishers and advertisers. A computer-implemented method in accordance with the disclosed technology receives a request for an electronic advertisement for a Web page, wherein the Web page is associated with a Web page publisher, accesses one or more keywords appearing in the Web page, identifies one or more relevant electronic advertisements related to the keyword(s), wherein the relevant electronic advertisement(s) are associated with an advertiser affiliated with the Web page publisher, and communicates one or more the relevant electronic advertisements to the Web page for display. The disclosed technology also includes a computer executing software, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform the steps above.

  • Publication number: 20090256337
Abstract: A seat belt airbag module, which is an independent device, comprises a pouch which is designed to attach the seat belt by sliding the seat belt through a seatbelt channel and secure it by a fastener; a connector to connect the pouch and an inflator; an inflator which is installed in the seat back and linked to the crash sensing system. This seat belt airbag module can be attached and fastened to the seat belt by a simple sliding action and set in front of an occupant's body. The inflatable airbag is designed to inflate upward and forward so as to offer a cushion effect against the crash impact yet eliminate the potential danger of punching right toward the occupant's body as conventional airbags do.
