  • Patent number: 8494797
Abstract: An energy detection method is provided. The method obtains an initial time point of an input signal with reference to a digital signal corresponding to the input signal. An ith sample value is obtained by sampling the digital signal. The (i?M?N+1)th to the (i?N)th sample values and the (i?N+1)th to the ith sample value are buffered. The weighting coefficient is set to with initial value. A first parameter is obtained according to the weighting coefficient and the (i?M?N+1)th to the (i?N)th sample values, and a second parameter is obtained according to the (i?N+1)th to the ith sample values. A comparison between the first parameter and the second parameter is made, and the sampling time point of the (i?N+1)th sample value is determined as the signal initial time point when the second parameter is greater than the first parameter.

  • Patent number: 8486645
Abstract: Novel gene deletions and translocations involving chromosome 2 resulting in fusion proteins combining part of Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) kinase with part of a secondary protein have now been identified in human solid tumors, e.g. non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Secondary proteins include Echinoderm Microtubule-Associated Protein-Like 4 (EML-4) and TRK-Fusion Gene (TFG). The EML4-ALK fusion protein, which retains ALK tyrosine kinase activity, was confirmed to drive the proliferation and survival of NSCLC characterized by this mutation. The invention therefore provides, in part, isolated polynucleotides and vectors encoding the disclosed mutant polypeptides, probes for detecting it, isolated mutant polypeptides, and reagents for detecting the fusion and truncated polypeptides.

  • Patent number: 8415250
Abstract: A structure and method for fabricating silicide contacts for semiconductor devices is provided. Specifically, the structure and method involves utilizing chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and annealing to form silicide contacts of different shapes, selectively on regions of a semiconductor field effect transistor (FET), such as on source and drain regions. The shape of silicide contacts is a critical factor that can be manipulated to reduce contact resistance. Thus, the structure and method provide silicide contacts of different shapes with low contact resistance, wherein the silicide contacts also mitigate leakage current to enhance the utility and performance of FETs in low power applications.

  • Publication number: 20130027111
Abstract: A multiple-modulus divider and an associated control method are provided. The multiple-modulus divider includes a divisor loader, a multiple-modulus dividing circuit and a modulus controller. The divisor loader downloads a divisor when a download signal indicates a start of a division period. The multiple-modulus circuit includes a plurality of cascaded divisors, and provides an output frequency according to an input frequency and the divisor. The dividers respectively output a plurality of modulus output signals, and each is operable under either a close-loop state or an open-loop state. The modulus controller selects and controls one of the dividers according to the divisor, and ensures the selected divider is maintained at the open-loop state when the division period ends. The download signal corresponds to one of the modulus output signals.

  • Publication number: 20120261804
Abstract: A diode structure, formed under a buried dielectric layer of a silicon on insulator (SOI), method of manufacturing the same and design structure thereof are provided. In an embodiment the p-n junction of the diode structure can be advantageously arranged in a vertical orientation. The cathode comprises an N+ epitaxial layer formed upon a P-type substrate. The anode comprises an active region of the P-substrate. Contacts to the cathode and anode are formed through the buried dielectric layer. Contact to the anode is accomplished via a deep trench filled with a conductive plug. The deep trench also provides electrical isolation for the cathode (as well as p-n junction). Advantageously, embodiments of the present invention may be formed during formation of other structures which also include trenches (for example, deep trench capacitors) in order to reduce process steps required to form the diode structure under the buried dielectric layer of the SOI substrate.

  • Publication number: 20120252081
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing biodegradable polymeric materials including polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by using the cell debris left from PHA recovery and purification. The process comprises: (a) cultivating PHA-producing microbial cells in a medium solution containing an organic carbon source to form PHAs that are accumulated in the cells as inclusion bodies; (b) harvesting the cells from the spent medium and solubilizing the non-PHA cell mass to obtain a PHA solid and a cell debris solution; (c) separating the PHA solid from the cell debris solution; (d) feeding the cell debris solution to the cultivation step (a). By reusing the cell debris generated from PHA recovery, the invention avoids disposal of a large amount of aqueous waste. In addition, a remarkable increase of cell growth and PHA synthesis is achieved, because the cell debris can be readily assimilated by the microbial cells as the nutrients.
