  • Patent number: 9414914
Abstract: Catheter assemblies including a handle assembly located on the proximal end of the catheter assembly and a distal tip assembly located on the distal end of the catheter assembly. A crimping funnel is slidably positioned along the catheter. The crimping funnel includes a distal end having a first diameter and a proximal end having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. An axial split is formed in the proximal end. A first collar is provided encompassing a portion of the proximal end. The first collar is configured to hold the axial split in the proximal end together when the first collar is at a first axial location along the proximal end, and to allow the axial split in the proximal end to open when the first collar is at a second axial location along the proximal end, such that the crimping funnel can be removed from the catheter assembly. Various methods of retaining a prosthetic valve on the catheter assembly during the crimping process are described.

  • Patent number: 9334988
Abstract: A pipe connector comprises a first pipe section having a first end and having teeth formed on its outer surface proximate to, but spaced axially apart from, the first end. A second pipe section has a second end which, in use, is to be connected to the first end of the first pipe section. A sleeve is slidably mounted on the outer surface of the second pipe section for movement between a first extended position, in which a front end of the sleeve projects beyond the second end of the second pipe section so as, in use, to overlap the first end of the first pipe section when abutted against the second end of the second pipe section, and a second retracted position in which said front end is withdrawn so as at least to be aligned with the second end of the second pipe section, the sleeve having teeth formed on its outer surface at least in the region of the front end. A stop is provided on the second pipe section and the sleeve to prevent axial movement of the sleeve beyond the extended position.

  • Patent number: 9323767
Abstract: Systems and methods that allow for an intelligence platform for distributed processing of big data sets including both structured and unstructured data types across two or more intelligent data operation engine servers. The intelligent data operation engine servers can form a conceptual understanding of content in each electronic file and then cooperates with a distributed index handler to index the conceptual understanding of the electronic file. A query pipeline and the distributed index handler in the intelligence platform cooperate with the two or more intelligent data operation engine servers to improve scalability and performance on the big data sets containing both structured and un-structured electronic files represented in the common index.

  • Patent number: 9295547
Abstract: A prosthesis having first and second prosthetic sections is disclosed. The first prosthetic section includes a stent structure that may contain a first prosthetic valve secured therein and the second prosthetic section includes an annular frame that may contain a second prosthetic valve secured therein. When the prosthesis is in an expanded configuration, the annular frame extends from the stent structure such that the first and second prosthetic sections are laterally offset from each other. In a method in accordance herewith, the first and second prosthetic sections may include prosthetic aortic and mitral valves, respectively, and the heart valve prosthesis is configured to replace one or both of the native aortic and mitral valves of the heart in a single transcatheter heart valve implantation procedure.

  • Publication number: 20160076316
Abstract: Disclosed is a tubular pipe string element having a pin connector and a box connector complementary to the pin connector. The pin and box connectors are rotationally engageable with the respective box and pin connectors of another pipe string element and have complementary anti-rotation devices that cooperate to prevent unintentional relative rotation between the connectors. The anti-rotation devices may include saw-tooth profiled, radially extending teeth and a steep trailing tooth flank angle for the pin member, and at least one detent member formed on the pipe string element for the box connector. When securing the pin and box connectors, the leading flanks of the teeth engage with the detent members while allowing the connectors to rotate into a fully connected position. The steep trailing tooth flank is trapped by the detent member when in the fully connected position to prevent unintentional release of the connection.

  • Patent number: 9271856
Abstract: Heart valve delivery systems and methods of delivering and implanting heart valves using delivery catheters are disclosed. The delivery systems can include a handle assembly with a rotatable control knob and a catheter including an introducer shaft, an intermediate shaft extending from the handle assembly, an inner shaft extending from the handle assembly, and a capsule for containing a prosthesis. The distal end of the capsule can be connected to a distal end of the inner shaft, which can be moved in a distal direction by the rotatable control knob to deploy the prosthesis. By advancing the introducer through the deployed prosthesis and retracting the capsule to mate with the introducer, a smooth profile can be created for retraction of the system through the deployed prosthesis, minimizing hang-ups and snagging.

  • Publication number: 20150347319
Abstract: According to one example, a method performed by a computing system includes determining that a size of key data to be stored within a kernel memory is greater than a threshold value. The threshold value is based on a size value associated with maintaining the key data outside of the kernel memory. The method further includes allocating a block of memory within a volatile memory store, the block of memory being outside the kernel memory, storing the key data within the block of memory, and storing, within the kernel memory, a pointer to the key data.

  • Patent number: 9192469
Abstract: A method for loading a prosthesis onto a delivery system includes passing a distal end of a delivery system through a first open end and a second open end of a reducing member. The method includes seating the prosthesis in a piston member of a cap by contacting a first end of the prosthesis with a first surface of the piston member and by contacting a portion of a side of the prosthesis with at least one side wall extending from the periphery of the first surface. Additionally, the method includes inserting the distal end of the delivery system into a center of the prosthesis and an opening defined by the piston member. And the method includes advancing the cap towards a reducing member such that a portion of the prosthesis seated in the piston member advances along an inner surface of the conical wall of the reducing member.

  • Publication number: 20150305653
Abstract: A method and device (10) are provided for monitoring regular movement of the body (20) of a human subject, such as an infant. The device (10) includes electronic circuitry, an alarm and attachment means (14) for attaching to the subject's body (18), a first non-contact proximity sensor (22), and a second proximity sensor. When the device (10) is attached to the subject's body, the two proximity sensors (22,24) monitor movement of the subject's body in two sensor zones a first sensor zone (23) and a second sensor zone (25) that is father from the device than the first sensor zone(23). If a pattern in the distances monitored in either sensor (22,24) changes by a predetermined extent, that alarm is activated.

  • Patent number: 9144493
Abstract: The delivery systems disclosed herein can create simultaneous movement of an inner and an outer sheath of the delivery system. The delivery systems can generally include a handle assembly and a delivery catheter. In certain embodiments, the inner shaft and the outer sheath can be slidably controlled by a control element in the handle. The handle assembly can include a housing with a thumbwheel acting as the control element. In certain embodiments, movement of the inner shaft and the outer sheath can be caused via a gear-type system. In certain embodiments, the handle assembly can include a rotatable housing. A control element can rotate the housing, which can cause a first boss associated with the outer sheath and a second boss associated with the inner shaft to move in opposite directions.
