  • Patent number: 9925045
Abstract: A heart valve therapy system including a delivery device and a stented valve. The delivery device includes an outer sheath, an inner shaft, an optional hub assembly, and a plurality of tethers. In a delivery state, a stent frame of the prosthesis is crimped over the inner shaft and maintained in a compressed condition by the outer sheath. The tethers are connected to the stent frame. In a partial deployment state, the outer sheath is at least partially withdrawn, allowing the stent frame to self-expand. Tension in the tethers prevents the stent frame from rapidly expanding and optionally allowing recapture. Upon completion of the stent frame expansion, the tethers are withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 9877669
Abstract: A method and device (10) are provided for monitoring regular movement of the body (20) of a human subject, such as an infant. The device (10) includes electronic circuitry, an alarm and attachment means (14) for attaching to the subject's body (18), a first non-contact proximity sensor (22), and a second proximity sensor. When the device (10) is attached to the subject's body, the two proximity sensors (22,24) monitor movement of the subject's body in two sensor zones a first sensor zone (23) and a second sensor zone (25) that is father from the device than the first sensor zone (23). If a pattern in the distances monitored in either sensor (22,24) changes by a predetermined extent, that alarm is activated.

  • Publication number: 20180008363
Abstract: A delivery system package includes a tray, a delivery system, and a slip card between the tray and the delivery system. To remove the delivery system, a pull tab of the slip card is moved to raise the slip card including the delivery system from the tray. At the same time, this moves the slip card over a lid sealing flange of the tray, considered a non-sterile surface in accordance one embodiment. Accordingly, the slip card extends over the lid sealing flange preventing contact between the delivery system and the lid sealing flange. In addition, the slip card effectively forms a ramp for sterile removal of the delivery system from the tray.

  • Patent number: 9834349
Abstract: A bottle carrier for use with a bottle is disclosed. The bottle has a screw cap. The bottle carrier has a diameter of at least two inches. An internally threaded socket has a solid ceiling and a perimeter. The internally threaded socket receives an externally threaded bottle top of the bottle. The bottle carrier replaces the screw cap. At least two apertures in the bottle carrier receive a handle. The apertures extend through the bottle carrier beyond the perimeter of the internally threaded socket. A handle engages the bottle carrier through at least two apertures of the bottle carrier.

  • Publication number: 20170319342
Abstract: Valve delivery catheter assemblies including components that limit trauma to the expanded prosthetic valve and body channels as the distal tip of the catheter is withdrawn through the expanded valve and thereafter from the body. Catheter assemblies according to the present invention can include a handle assembly, an introducer sheath, and a distal tip assembly. The handle assembly can include a fixed main handle and two or more rotating handles that allow a user to control the distal tip assembly of the catheter. A safety button can be included on the handle assembly to allow for precise and consistent positioning of the prosthetic valve in the body. A valve retaining mechanism can be included to assist in retaining the prosthetic valve prior to deployment.

  • Publication number: 20170312479
Abstract: A system includes a delivery catheter and a separately-packaged implantable medical device assembly. The assembly includes a relatively compact implantable medical device, a support shaft, a tether, and a snare mandrel. The tether, which extends in the support shaft, has a distal portion coupled to the device, at a distal end of the support shaft, and a proximal portion protruding from a proximal end of the support shaft, for engagement by a hook of the snare mandrel. An operator may use the engaged snare mandrel to pull the support shaft into a lumen of an inner shaft of the catheter so that the coupled device comes into engagement with a flared end of the catheter inner shaft. Then, after locking the proximal portion of the tether within the catheter, the operator may advance a receptacle of the catheter over the device.

  • Publication number: 20170290662
Abstract: Heart valve delivery systems and methods of delivering and implanting heart valves using delivery catheters are disclosed. The delivery systems can include a handle assembly which can include a first control mechanism, a second control mechanism, and a decoupling mechanism. The delivery systems can also include a delivery catheter extending from the handle assembly. The delivery catheter can include an outer shaft, which can be controlled by the first control mechanism; a prosthesis containing capsule comprising a proximal capsule portion connected to the outer shaft, and a distal capsule portion releasably coupled to the proximal capsule portion. After deploying a valve prosthesis, the capsule can be closed by activating the decoupling mechanism in the handle to rapidly close the distal and proximal capsule portions together. The delivery system can also include a centering element to guide the distal and proximal capsule portions together.

  • Patent number: 9785577
Abstract: According to one example, a method performed by a computing system includes determining that a size of key data to be stored within a kernel memory is greater than a threshold value. The threshold value is based on a size value associated with maintaining the key data outside of the kernel memory. The method further includes allocating a block of memory within a volatile memory store, the block of memory being outside the kernel memory, storing the key data within the block of memory, and storing, within the kernel memory, a pointer to the key data.

  • Patent number: 9724749
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a clipping tool for clipping flash from a component e.g. a gas turbine aerofoil body. The clipping tool includes a riser having a support surface for supporting the component and a punch for gripping the component on the support surface such that the flash projects laterally from the riser and the punch. The clipping tool further comprises a tool body having a clipping aperture opening to a channel within the tool body. The channel is defined by a channel wall. The riser and the punch are translatable to shear the projecting flash from the gripped component. At least a portion of the channel wall within the tool body comprises a broaching surface having at least one projection, said projection reducing the cross sectional area of the channel to less than that of the clipping aperture.
