  • Patent number: 10159819
Abstract: A guidewire is coupled to a control module and extends through a lumen of the control module. The control module operates to transition between a first control state wherein the control module allows movement of the guidewire relative to a catheter and a second control state wherein relative axial movement between the catheter and guidewire is prevented.

  • Patent number: 10143823
Abstract: A system includes a delivery catheter and a separately-packaged implantable medical device assembly. The assembly includes a relatively compact implantable medical device, a support shaft, a tether, and a snare mandrel. The tether, which extends in the support shaft, has a distal portion coupled to the device, at a distal end of the support shaft, and a proximal portion protruding from a proximal end of the support shaft, for engagement by a hook of the snare mandrel. An operator may use the engaged snare mandrel to pull the support shaft into a lumen of an inner shaft of the catheter so that the coupled device comes into engagement with a flared end of the catheter inner shaft. Then, after locking the proximal portion of the tether within the catheter, the operator may advance a receptacle of the catheter over the device.

  • Patent number: 10132124
Abstract: Disclosed is a tubular pipe string element having a pin connector and a box connector complementary to the pin connector. The pin and box connectors are rotationally engageable with the respective box and pin connectors of another pipe string element and have complementary anti-rotation devices that cooperate to prevent unintentional relative rotation between the connectors. The anti-rotation devices may include saw-tooth profiled, radially extending teeth and a steep trailing tooth flank angle for the pin member, and at least one detent member formed on the pipe string element for the box connector. When securing the pin and box connectors, the leading flanks of the teeth engage with the detent members while allowing the connectors to rotate into a fully connected position. The steep trailing tooth flank is trapped by the detent member when in the fully connected position to prevent unintentional release of the connection.

  • Publication number: 20180325667
Abstract: In some embodiments, a medical device delivery system includes a catheter and a retainer. The retainer can be engaged with the medical device to restrain relative movement of the medical device in one or more axial and/or radial directions. A variety of retainers and retainer systems are disclosed, many of which can reliably disengage the medical device from the retainer. Methods for using the medical device delivery system are also described.

  • Publication number: 20180313735
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for the analysing of non-Newtonian fluids and determining parameters to characterise the relationship between shear stresses and shear rates, i.e. the parameters of one or more rheological models of viscosity. A plurality of viscosity measurements are made in a fluid using one or more vibratory transducers operating at a plurality of frequencies. Parameters for the fluid are determined based on the measured viscosity values and the frequencies of vibration at which the viscosity measurements were obtained.

  • Patent number: 10070819
Abstract: A clip (10) is provided with a body (12,14) that can house a device (16) such as a breathing monitor and that can attach to a garment. The body (12,14) forms a fixed jaw (18) and has a pivot jaw (24) that can pivot to grip the garment between fixed jaw(18) and pivot jaw (24). The clip (10) also has a pivoting lock (38) with a detent (42) that locks the pivot jaw (24) in a closed position, when the lock (38) is in a lock position.

  • Publication number: 20180200058
Abstract: A heart valve therapy system including a delivery device and a stented valve. The delivery device includes an outer sheath, an inner shaft, an optional hub assembly, and a plurality of tethers. In a delivery state, a stent frame of the prosthesis is crimped over the inner shaft and maintained in a compressed condition by the outer sheath. The tethers are connected to the stent frame. In a partial deployment state, the outer sheath is at least partially withdrawn, allowing the stent frame to self-expand. Tension in the tethers prevents the stent frame from rapidly expanding and optionally allowing recapture. Upon completion of the stent frame expansion, the tethers are withdrawn.

  • Publication number: 20180172573
Abstract: Apparatus for the measurement of a fluid property is shown generally at (10). The apparatus is typically suitable for the measurement of a property of a fluid (not shown) such as its viscosity, and comprises a tube (12) for the through-flow of fluid to be measured, a torsion bar (14), a magnetic drive coil (16) and a magnetic pick-up coil (18). The tube (12) is mounted within a casing (20), shown in cutaway. An inertial frame (22) is secured to the casing via isolators (not shown). The tube (12) has a web portion (24) supporting inertial masses (26) connected to, and radially spaced from, the tube (12). The tube is connected at each end to pipe fittings (28) via end flanges (30) and seals (32). The single tube (12) has been selectively machined to produce areas (12a) of low compliance which effectively form springs. The torsion bar (14) is of relatively low inertia and is fixed at the midpoint of the length of the tube (12).
