  • Publication number: 20150219929
Abstract: A patient with amblyopia is treated using a pair of shutter glasses (100). The shutter glasses (100) have first (104b) and second (106b) shutters and respective first (104c) and second (106c) variable focus lenses corresponding respectively to a lazy eye and a preferred eye of the patient. A power of at least one of the first (104c) or second (106c) variable focus lenses is adjusted. An opacity of the first shutter (104b) is controlled according to a first scheme. An opacity of the second shutter (106c) is controlled according to a second scheme. The first and second schemes are adhered to while the shutter glasses (100) are worn by the patient during a treatment period. The use of variable focus lenses together with shutters provides for a greater flexibility and improved procedures including correction of the refractive error in one or both eyes and/or using sub-optimal refractive powers as part of the treatment.

  • Patent number: 9089344
Abstract: A surgical cutting instrument including two coaxially arranged tubular members. The first tubular member has a cutting tip and is co-axially disposed within the second tubular member, which in turn has a cutting window to expose the cutting tip to tissue and bone through the cutting window. Movement of the tubular members with respect to each other debrides soft tissue and thin bone presented to the cutting window. The second (outer) tubular member has one or more features which contribute to reduced clogging of the cutting tip as a whole.

  • Patent number: 8893068
Abstract: Techniques generating a simulation model for a circuit design are disclosed. One of the techniques includes extracting a plurality design properties associated with the circuit design. The design properties are extracted from a netlist of the circuit design and may include an input/output (I/O) buffer setting extracted from a first netlist of the circuit design or an environmental condition associated with the circuit design. A second netlist for the circuit design is generated based on the design properties and is simulated based on the design properties. A simulation model for the circuit design is generated. In an exemplary embodiment, the simulation model reflects the I/O buffer setting or the environmental condition associated with the circuit design.

  • Patent number: 8862557
Abstract: A data generation system provides for generating domain-specific, context-sensitive data collections as synthetic data for testing the performance of data processing systems. Within the data generation system, a composition module defines a data generation template containing a plurality of fields each capable of holding one or more values according to specifications defined for predetermined data types. An evaluation module sorts the fields in an order of dependency so that fields whose values affect the values in other of the fields are ordered before the fields whose values are affected by values in other fields. A data generation module populates the fields with values and retrieves a subset of the values populating the plurality of fields for generating each of a plurality of data sets, which are written into memory and made accessible for use in testing data processing systems.
