  • Publication number: 20140032876
Abstract: A system and method for storing and retrieving a sparse matrix from memory of a computing device while minimizing the amount of data stored and costly jumps in memory. The computing device may be an FPGA having memory and processing elements. The method comprises storing non-zero data elements of the matrix in a data array and storing their corresponding column address values in a column index array. To read this stored data from memory, each preceding value of the column index array may be compared with each current value of the column index array to determine if the data array value corresponding with the current column index array value belongs on the next row of the matrix. The method may include pre-ordering the matrix with zero-pad placeholders or creating a row increment pointer array which typically stores fewer values than the number of rows in the matrix.

  • Patent number: 8627254
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reducing simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in an integrated circuit (IC) designed with a computer aided design (CAD) tool are presented. In one method, value assignments for parameters of the IC are received by the CAD tool. The value assignments are entered as a range of value. The minimum and the maximum path delays for each Input/Output (I/O) pin in an I/O block are determined such that the received value assignments are satisfied. The actual switching times of the I/O pins are spread out in time to decrease SSN in the I/O pins. The switching times are spread out so that the switching times fall between the minimum and the maximum path delay for the corresponding I/O pin.

  • Patent number: 8611678
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for grouping digital media items based on shared features. Multiple digital images are received. Metadata about the digital images is obtained either by analyzing the digital images or by receiving metadata from a source separate from the digital images or both. The obtained metadata is analyzed by data processing apparatus to identify a common feature among two or more of the digital images. A grouping of the two or more images is formed by the data processing apparatus based on the identified common feature.

The imported multimedia files can be presented in a parade. The user can scroll between the multimedia files presented in the parade. Multimedia files can be displayed coincident to import of other multimedia files. One or more options for adjusting the imported multimedia files can be selected while the multimedia files are presented in the parade. Actions associated with the one or more options for adjusting the imported multimedia files can be effected on a multimedia file in real-time during presentation of the multimedia file in the parade.

  • Patent number: 8572403
Abstract: This invention relates to the veracity of information displayed to a user of a computer, and information provided to a computer by human input devices such as mice and keyboards. A digital video guard (DVG) device is a peripheral that is retrofitted to commodity computer devices. The DVG resides in-line with a digital display and enables secure end-to-end interactions between a user and a displayed (usually remote) application. In-band signalling within the digital video stream is used to carry encrypted information from a local or remote source, over untrusted network infrastructure through the digital video guard device to a user. The DVG decrypts and verifies the integrity of the digital video. The integrity of the displayed information is indicated by a trusted LED on the DVG hardware. Portions of the video signal may be designated as trusted, if the received data has been encrypted, signed, or labelled as trustworthy.

  • Patent number: 8548611
Abstract: The present invention is a data processing system for monitoring, recording and modifying information relating to fantasy sports teams and fantasy sports lineups, and making calculations, necessary for assisting fantasy owners in managing their teams, notifying them of injuries related to their teams, and in setting their lineups. In particular, the data processing system gathers data from external sources such as news, blogs, social networks sites, injury reports, and other user and system administrator configurable sources. This information is then analyzed and utilized by the system enabling it to help users more effectively manage their team. In certain embodiments the system can manage the team for the fantasy owner in their absence or under other circumstances such as lack of user activity.

  • Patent number: 8443321
Abstract: Methods for determining induced noise on a given victim by a set of aggressor signals are presented, and for identifying the worst case aggressor switching time alignment that causes the worst case victim noise. The method removes circuit analysis pessimism related to simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in a circuit design tool by determining physically impossible combinations of victim-aggressor input/output (I/O) pins in a circuit design and culling out the impossible combinations from the list of possible victim-aggressor combinations. The method further performs a switching window SSN analysis of the circuit design with a common uncertainty removal algorithm taking into consideration the list of possible victim-aggressor combinations, and determines the maximum voltage noise induced on I/O pins of the circuit design. The results of the noise analysis are displayed to the user.

  • Patent number: 8409235
Abstract: A surgical cutting instrument including two coaxially arranged tubular members. The first tubular member has a cutting tip and is co-axially disposed within the second tubular member, which in turn has a cutting window to expose the cutting tip to tissue and bone through the cutting window. Movement of the tubular members with respect to each other debrides soft tissue and thin bone presented to the cutting window. The second (outer) tubular member has one or more features which contribute to reduced clogging of the cutting tip as a whole.
