  • Publication number: 20130080987
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reducing simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in an integrated circuit (IC) designed with a computer aided design (CAD) tool are presented. In one method, value assignments for parameters of the IC are received by the CAD tool. The value assignments are entered as a range of value. The minimum and the maximum path delays for each Input/Output (I/O) pin in an I/O block are determined such that the received value assignments are satisfied. The actual switching times of the I/O pins are spread out in time to decrease SSN in the I/O pins. The switching times are spread out so that the switching times fall between the minimum and the maximum path delay for the corresponding I/O pin.

  • Patent number: 8402402
Abstract: A method for determining simultaneous switching noise for multiple Input/Output (I/O) standards is provided by calculating incremental noise for the multiple I/O standards by considering a cumulative amount of noise contributed by previously assigned pins. In another embodiment, the number of pins being placed is considered rather than the cumulative amount of noise. When considering the cumulative amount of noise the I/O noise from corresponding I/O standards are characterized and a greater contributor is identified so that the I/O standard associated with the greater contributor can be assigned.

  • Patent number: 8398902
Abstract: The invention provides a method of moulding a vision correction lens from a transparent resin. The resin is introduced into a mould cavity, the sides of which cavity which correspond to the front and rear surfaces of the lens being formed by two sheets, at least one of which is flexible. The amount of resin in the cavity is adjusted to deform the flexible sheet(s) so that the shape of the lens defined by the sheet(s) will provide a desired power, and the resin is then cured. The sheets can be transparent, and a user can look through them as the amount of resin is adjusted, to ensure that the lens is of the desired power. Further, the amount of resin in the cavity can be adjusted to accommodate changes in the refractive index of the resin as it cures.

  • Patent number: 8302058
Abstract: Methods, computer programs, and Integrated Circuits (IC) for minimizing Simultaneous Switching Noise (SSN) in the design of an IC are presented. In one embodiment, the method includes moving a candidate pin of the IC in an initial input/output (I/O) layout to create a candidate I/O layout. Further, in one operation the method calculates a first performance cost for the initial I/O layout and a second performance cost for the candidate I/O layout. The first and the second performance costs are based on an SSN cost for the initial layout and on an SSN cost for the candidate layout respectively. The method selects the layout to design the IC that has the lowest performance cost. The method operations are performed during the placement phase of an IC Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool.

In one method, value assignments for parameters of the IC are received by the CAD tool. The value assignments are entered as a range of value assignments or as a list of possible value assignments. The switching times are spread out so that the switching times fall between the minimum and the maximum path delay for the corresponding I/O pin. Additionally, other method operations are included for routing paths to the I/O pins to meet the actual switching times and for creating a design for the IC that meets the actual switching times.

  • Publication number: 20120214602
Abstract: The present invention is a data processing system for monitoring, recording and modifying information relating to fantasy sports teams and fantasy sports lineups, and making calculations, necessary for assisting fantasy owners in managing their teams, notifying them of injuries related to their teams, and in setting their lineups. In particular, the data processing system gathers data from external sources such as news, blogs, social networks sites, injury reports, and other user and system administrator configurable sources. This information is then analyzed and utilized by the system enabling it to help users more effectively manage their team. In certain embodiments the system can manage the team for the fantasy owner in their absence or under other circumstances such as lack of user activity.

  • Patent number: 8190418
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer programs for producing integrated circuits (IC) that contain an electronic component with time-dependent impedance are provided. According to one method, time-dependent impedance values for the electronic component are obtained. These time-dependent impedance values are time-dependent because they can change over time, such as when an input/output buffer starts switching, and are used to create a model of the electronic component. The model includes a variable impedance and a variable voltage source. The model is created by calculating a current through the variable impedance and then assigning the obtained impedance values to the impedance. Additionally, values are assigned to the variable voltage source such that the current through the variable impedance with the new assigned values is equal to the current thorough the variable impedance before the assignment of the time-dependent impedance values.
