  • Patent number: 8181130
Abstract: A method for jitter reduction in a path of an integrated circuit design is presented. The path is first analyzed to identify a combinatorial logic element bounded between a source element and a destination element. The arrival time of the input signal to the combinatorial logic element is shifted by inserting a logic element at the input of the combinatorial logic element. The insertion of the logic element is performed such that the arrival time of a signal to the input of the inserted logic element occurs before half of a clock cycle and the propagation time of the input signal from the inserted logic element to the destination element is less than half the clock cycle. The modified netlist of the path of the integrated circuit incorporating the inserted logic element is stored in memory of a computing system.

  • Patent number: 8170937
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method to process items for sale or bid, to transmit electronic negotiations between prospective buyer and seller, and to verify the condition of the item before delivery to the buyer. The invention facilitates autonomous and remote negotiation between sellers and prospective buyers while protecting buyers from fraud and item misrepresentation. With the present invention, items can be sold individually and are not treated as standardized items that are interchangeable with similar commodity goods. The present invention also provides a waitlisting function. In addition, the functionality of traditional auction systems may be integrated with the novel features of the present invention. Furthermore, the present invention provides a system and method for conducting a reverse auction by allowing prospective buyers to list desired items.

  • Patent number: 8151233
Abstract: Methods, computer programs, and systems for designing an electronic component are presented. One method calculates a first Simultaneous Switching Noise (SSN) on Input/Output (IO) pins using a first configuration of the electronic component. A setting or a placement of a chosen IO pin is changed to obtain a second configuration of the electronic component, and a second SSN on IO pins is obtained based on the results of the first SSN and based on new SSN calculations related to the changed setting or placement. The second SSN on an IO pin, other than the chosen IO pin, is calculated by subtracting from the first SSN on the IO pin the SSN caused by the chosen IO pin calculated in the first SSN, and by adding an incremental SSN caused by the chosen IO pin on the pin in the second configuration. The method further includes the operation of creating a design for the electronic component with either the first or the second configuration based on the results of the first and the second SSN.

  • Patent number: 8055477
Abstract: A benchmark tester retrieves a voltage margin that corresponds to a device that a system includes. The voltage margin indicates an additional amount of voltage to apply to a nominal voltage that, when added, results in the device operating at a power limit while executing a worst-case power workload. Next, the benchmark tester (or thermal power management device) sets an input voltage for the device to a value equal to the sum of the voltage margin and the nominal voltage. The benchmark tester then dynamically benchmark tests the system, which includes adjusting the device's frequency and input voltage while ensuring that the device does not exceed the device's power limit. In turn, the benchmark tester records a guaranteed minimum performance boost for the system based upon a result of the benchmark testing.

  • Publication number: 20110270294
Abstract: A surgical cutting instrument including two coaxially arranged tubular members. The first tubular member has a cutting tip and is co-axially disposed within the second tubular member, which in turn has a cutting window to expose the cutting tip to tissue and bone through the cutting window. Movement of the tubular members with respect to each other debrides soft tissue and thin bone presented to the cutting window. The second (outer) tubular member has one or more features which contribute to reduced clogging of the cutting tip as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20110264922
Abstract: This invention relates to the veracity of information that is displayed to a user of a computer and can also relate to the veracity of information provided to a computer by human input devices such as pointing devices and keyboards. A digital video guard device is a peripheral that is retrofitted to commodity computer device. The digital video guard device provides trust in specific information presented on a digital display. The digital video guard device resides in-line with a digital display and enables secure end-to-end interactions between a user and a displayed (usually remote) application. In-band signalling within the digital video stream is used to carry encrypted information from a remote source, over untrusted network infrastructure through the digital video guard device to a user for viewing. The creation of encrypted digital video content can be achieved by either local or remote applications, and is effected by manipulating what is to be rendered on a computer's display, i.e.

  • Patent number: 8031926
Abstract: Locations of the origins of “discrete events,” e.g., photons or other units of radiant energy are acquired from a specimen with reference to a scan frame or other region of interest of the specimen. The location of origin of a discrete event can be determined from the corresponding location datum as derived from a scan-drive signal, a positional feed-back signal, or by a point in time during a unit of sampling time (“image-acquisition period”) at which the event is detected. A probability-density function (PDF) is associated with the detected locations. Summing or other processing of the PDFs is performed to produce imagable data. From the data, images can be produced that require fewer discrete events to converge to an ideal density distribution associated with an image feature than required by pixel-based binning methods. Stored data can be mapped into pixels or voxels of a display or otherwise processed, including post hoc processing.

  • Publication number: 20110234615
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for creating presentations using digital media content. In one aspect, input is received to position a first graphical element, such as a digital image, over a second graphical element to create a digital presentation. By analyzing a first feature associated with the first graphical element, it is determined that the first feature is incompatible with a second feature associated with the second graphical element. The second feature is dynamically and automatically modified to be compatible with the first feature, and the first graphical element is displayed over the second graphical element that is associated with the modified second feature, in response to the input.

  • Publication number: 20110235858
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for grouping digital media items based on shared features. Multiple digital images are received. Metadata about the digital images is obtained either by analyzing the digital images or by receiving metadata from a source separate from the digital images or both. The obtained metadata is analyzed by data processing apparatus to identify a common feature among two or more of the digital images. A grouping of the two or more images is formed by the data processing apparatus based on the identified common feature.
