    Abstract: A breathable liquid-volatizing device for maintaining the relative humidity in a space includes a rectangular closed casing. The casing is hollow and provided with an inlet port. A plurality of parallel draining grooves are provided on the bottom plate of the casing. A plurality of breathable plates are provided under the casing corresponding to the positions of the draining grooves. A water-absorbing layer is provided in the interior of the breathable plate. A film having tiny pores is covered on the outer surface of the water-absorbing layer. When the liquid water is poured into the closed casing through the inlet port, it flows into the breathable plate via the draining grooves provided on the bottom plate and is absorbed by the water-absorbing layer. With the pressure difference between the inside and the outside of the film, the liquid water can be pressed out of the tiny pores and transformed into vapor molecules, thereby to maintain the density of the vapor molecules in the air.

    Abstract: A system and method for firmware authentication includes a first memory with the firmware embedded therein, a programmable microprocessor, and a microprocessor coupling the first memory and the programmable microprocessor. The firmware includes a first cryptographic algorithm unit. The programmable microprocessor includes a second memory for storing a second cryptographic algorithm unit. The microprocessor runs the first cryptographic algorithm unit and generates a first digital signature. The programmable microprocessor runs the second cryptographic algorithm unit and generates a second digital signature. The microprocessor then runs a verification of the first and the second digital signatures. If the first digital signature and the second digital signature are identical to each other, the authentication of the firmware is accomplished; otherwise, the system halts.

    Abstract: An interconnect structure that may reduce or eliminate stress induced voids is provided. In an embodiment, a via is formed below a conductive line to provide an electrical connection to an underlying conductive region. The conductive line includes a widened region above the via. The widened region serves to reduce or eliminate stress induced voids between the via and the underlying conductive region. In another embodiment, one or more redundant lines are formed extending from a conductive region, such as a contact pad, such that the redundant line does not electrically couple the conductive region to an underlying conductive region. In a preferred embodiment, the redundant lines extend from a conductive region on a side adjacent to a side having a conductive line coupled to a via.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing waterproof, highly absorbent, and highly flexible fabric comprises drying TPU material or thermoplastic elastomer at about 50° C. to 150° C. for about predetermined hours, adding a bridge agent in the dried TPU material or thermoplastic elastomer for mixing and heating at about 60° C. to 280° C. for about 30 seconds to 5 minutes for melting, pouring the melted material into an endless shallow mold to form a continuous film, contracting a fabric material at about 50° C. to 180° C. for about 1 second to 5 minutes, placing the fabric material onto top and bottom surfaces of the film and pressing same at about 50° C. to 250° C. to form a composite fabric, cooling and shaping the composite fabric at about 5° C. to 60° C., and drawing the shaped composite fabric around a roll to produce the finished composite fabric.

    Abstract: A watermark embedding method based on DCT subband image characters is disclosed. An original image is converted into a frequency image using a discrete cosine transformation. The watermark information is then embedded into a specific embedding block in each macro-block of the frequency image. The method has the following advantages: (1) the image embedded by watermark is resistant from distortion and damages from compressions; (2) the watermark image can be extracted without employing the original image; and (3) the quality of the image embedded with the watermark image can remain intact.

    Abstract: A manufacturing method of a dual damascene structure is provided. First, a barrier layer, a first dielectric layer, a second dielectric layer, a cap layer, a metal-containing hard mask layer, a dielectric hard mask layer, a first bottom anti-reflection coating (BARC) layer and a first photoresist layer are sequentially formed over the substrate. Next, the patterned first photoresist layer is used as a mask during an etch process to form a first trench structure. A second BARC layer is formed to fill the first trench structure and to cover the surface of the dielectric hard mask layer. A second photoresist layer is formed over the second BARC layer. The patterned second photoresist layer is used as a mask during an etch process to form a first via structure. The first trench structure and the first via structure are etched to obtain a second trench structure and a second via structure.

    Abstract: A wiring structure with improved resistance to void formation and a method of making the same are described. The wiring structure has a first conducting layer that includes a large area portion which is connected to an end of a protrusion with a plurality of “n” overlapping segments and at least one bending portion. The other end of the protrusion is connected to the bottom of a via which has an overlying second conducting layer. A bend is formed by overlapping the ends of two adjacent segments at an angle between 45° and 135°. The protrusion may also include at least one extension at a segment end beyond a bend. A bending portion and extension are used as bottlenecks to delay the diffusion of a vacancy from the large area portion to the vicinity of the via and is especially effective for copper interconnects or in a via test structure.
