  • Publication number: 20090055927
Abstract: An attacker is prevented from obtaining information about the configuration of a computer system. Each of one or more revealing content elements that may be found in outgoing data transmitted by the computer system and that are capable of being used by the attacker to obtain the information about the configuration of the computer system is associated with one or more respective replacement content elements. Outgoing data to be transmitted by the computer system are then scanned for these one or more revealing content elements. A revealing content element found in the outgoing data is replaced by a replacement content element from the one or more replacement content elements associated with that revealing content element. This is done before the outgoing data is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 7489483
Abstract: A system for sensing short circuits and open circuits prior to operation of a motor (i.e., while the motor is in a static state), thereby sparing the electrical system from destructive effects of these electrical problems. In addition, the system may detect a short circuit during operation of the motor (i.e., while the motor is in a dynamic state). Still yet, the system may detect an open circuit at the motor. The motor may be any electromechanical motor, such as a direct current (DC) motor, used in a vehicle or otherwise for controlling motion of a mechanical device.

  • Patent number: 7479915
Abstract: A comparator presents a linear load to input signals when providing a comparison output of two input signals. The comparator contains a transistor configured in a source/emitter follower configuration, and operates in the saturation region for substantially the entire range of strengths of the input signals. As a result, the comparator presents a substantially constant load to the input signals. When incorporated in circuits such as a pipeline ADC, the comparator may substantially eliminate errors due to non-linear loads.

  • Patent number: 7479816
Abstract: A delay locked loop (DLL) circuit in which situations of lock to multiple periods of a reference signal is determined by a lock detector using dummy delay elements and a duty cycle correction circuit (DCC). The lock detector, the dummy delay elements and the delay control circuit are used in a path parallel to the delay elements which generate the desired delayed signals having different delays in relation to the reference signal. Due to the use of the parallel path, the throughput performance of the DLL circuit is not impeded. In an embodiment, separate charge pumps are used by a phase comparator and the lock detector used in the parallel path.

  • Publication number: 20090004215
Abstract: A novel chimeric protein of rabies virus designed to express a chimeric G protein at a high level in transgenic plants. A gene was also designed and chemically synthesised to encode the chimeric G protein and expressed at high level in plant tissue. The gene was expressed in transgenic tobacco plants to examine its therapeutic efficacy against infection by rabies virus. The chimeric G protein was enriched in plant membranes. The BalbC mice were immunised with the plant leaf expressed G-protein. Plant derived chimeric G protein elicited higher immune response as compared to the commercial vaccine. The mice displayed protective immunity when they were challenged with live virus. Chimeric G protein expressed at high level in plant leaves was demonstrated to function as a commercially valuable subunit vaccine against rabies virus infection.

  • Publication number: 20080295171
Abstract: A wireless node in a wireless network examines data packets directed to itself (i.e., value in destination address field indicates that the wireless node is an intended recipient)for presence of anomalies that suggest intrusion. The data packet is examined as part of the normal course of operation of the node. Upon detection of an anomaly, the wireless node sends a message packet containing details of the anomaly to a sentinel device. The sentinel device processes the anomalies to determine if a possibility of intrusion is indicated, and activates a spy routine in the wireless node. The spy routine enables further investigation into the intrusion. As components (such as wireless nodes) in the wireless network operate normally (normal operations) until an anomalous condition/event occurs, the additional power requirements for intrusion detection are reduced. If intrusion is detected, appropriate actions, such as alerting an operator, are taken to mitigate the intrusion.
