  • Patent number: 6059581
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a front shielding shell member, a front housing member, a number of contacts, a rear housing member and a rear shielding shell member. The contacts are mounted to two sides of the rear housing member to prevent the contacts from moving sideward and to and fro. The rear housing member with the contacts is then inserted into a cavity defined in the front housing member to fixedly connect therewith, whereby contact portions of the contacts extend into contact passageways defined in the front housing member and are further prevented from moving upward and downward, whereby the contacts and the front and rear housing members are all fixedly connected. Finally, the front shielding shell member is mounted to the front housing member and the rear shielding shell member is connected to the front shielding shell member to accomplish the assembly of the electrical connector.

  • Patent number: 6053773
Abstract: A USB receptacle connector includes a dielectric housing having a rear wall and an inner space. A plate extends from the rear wall through the inner space to an outside of the housing. The plate defines a number of horizontal contact passageways. The rear wall defines a number of vertical contact passageways in communication with the horizontal contact passageways. Two slots are defined from two lateral sides of the rear wall to the inner space of the housing. A number of contacts having contact portions and tail portions are interferentially received in the corresponding horizontal and vertical contact passageways. A front metal shielding has a rear part received in the inner space of the housing, and two side walls having rear portions extending into the slots to fixedly engage with the housing. The front shielding member covers the contact portions of the contacts.

  • Patent number: 6027375
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a unitary insulative housing having an upper half and a lower half respectively defining a first chamber and a second chamber therein. A plurality of first conductive pins are received in the first chamber and enclosed by a first shielding member to form a power connector for transmitting electrical power. A plurality of second conductive pins are received in the second chamber and enclosed by a second shielding member to form a signal connector for transmitting signals. The signal connector may be a USB (universal series bus) connector. Thus, the USB connector has an integral power connector for supplying electrical power to drive electronic devices connected thereto.
