  • Patent number: 8543999
Abstract: A communications protocol interface is configured as being divisible into a core portion and an extensible portion. The extensible portion of the communications protocol interface is further configured to be customized in scope so that each network element can communicate a unique and optionally small, subset of actual interoperable data that corresponds to at least a portion of a larger defined data set. A software generator program is configured to generate a set of extensible source code that operates upon the subset of actual data and that directs the execution of the extensible portion of the communications protocol interface for a particular network element.

  • Patent number: 8539020
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for enabling a system service executing in an isolated session to access system resources (such as a graphics processing unit) that it is isolated from. In an embodiment, the system service creates a “worker” session that is not isolated, and a “worker” process inside that worker session. Then, the system service is able to access the system resource that it is directly isolated from accessing by passing a request to the worker process to access the system resource on the system service's behalf. The worker process does so, and passes a result to the system service.

  • Patent number: 8539091
Abstract: Methods and systems have been provided for preempting a secondary service provider from streaming information. The primary service provider sends an Ad-insert control packet for giving control of the streaming to the secondary service provider, during still periods determined on the basis of the Ad-insert control packet. When the primary service provider wants to take back control of streaming from the secondary service provider during the still periods, the primary service provider sends an Ad-insert preempt message. The secondary service provider is then preempted during the periods that are determined on the basis of the Ad-insert preempt message.

  • Patent number: 8527927
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system that facilitates the creation of a design in an electronic design automation (EDA) application. During operation, the system determines a processing order for processing a set of cells in the design. In some embodiments, the processing order can be a reverse-levelized processing order. Next, the system may select a cell for performing area recovery according to the processing order. The system may then tentatively perform an area-recovery operation on the selected cell. Next, the system may determine a zone around the selected cell. Next, the system may propagate arrival times within the zone to obtain updated slack values at endpoints of the zone. The system may compute one or more timing metrics at the endpoints. If the updated slack values do not degrade the timing metric(s) at the endpoints, the system may accept the area-recovery operation of the selected cell.

  • Patent number: 8527405
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a computer-implemented method for reducing funding burden on a credit issuer by offering an early payment rewards program to qualified card holders. The method may include identifying card holders having a payment history illustrating payment of an entire credit balance each month, determining whether each of the identified card holders generates an account-related fee total not exceeding a pre-selected threshold, and selecting the card holders having a history of payment of the entire credit balance each month and generating account-related fees not exceeding the pre-selected threshold. The method may further include offering the early payment rewards program to the selected card holders, wherein upon enrollment in the early payment rewards program the selected card holders receive rewards for early payment behavior.
