  • Patent number: 6675228
Abstract: A process and apparatus in a data processing svstem for presenting a view to a client. At an application mediator, a view event is received from a view controller, wherein the view event describes an action on a displayed container handled by the view controller. Responsive to a requirement that a change in a placement of the displaved container is required, a placement event is generated bv the application mediator. A determination is then made by a placement listener, as to whether the placement event includes an indication that an alternate view is to be generated. Responsive to a determination that an alternate view is to be generated, a call is sent to a method in the view controller to generate the alternate view.

Abstract: A communication system that includes a mobile station (MS) in wireless communication with an infrastructure comprising a Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) operably coupled to a Packet Control Unit (PCU) utilizes a synchronization message conveyed by the SGSN to the PCU and a synchronization message acknowledgment conveyed by the PCU to the SGSN to determine the data provided to the MS, to provide corTect accounting information and lost data packet recovery, and to allow the SGSN to control a flow of data packets to the PCU. Furthermore, a synchronization buffer included in the SGSN stores copies of data packets conveyed by the SGSN to the PCU, allowing the SGSN to reconvey lost data packets to the serving PCU and to convey, to a target PCU, data packets conveyed by the SGSN to the serving PCU but not conveyed by the serving PCU to the MS.

  • Patent number: 6665575
Abstract: A universal recipe editor for editing of semiconductor-manufacturing recipes. The universal recipe editor can read recipes from a wide variety of semiconductor-manufacturing machines from different manufacturers using recipe distributed object model (R-DOM) files. An R-DOM file is generated for each kind of recipe-file format to locate process parameters within proprietary recipe-file formats. The sequence of parameters in the R-DOM file matches the sequence in the recipe data file so that parameter may be mapped from recipe data files for display and editing. ASCII or binary recipe file formats are mapped from the recipe data file using R-DOM objects. Revision and authorng information is kept in a recipe information file for each recipe.

  • Publication number: 20030227978
Abstract: A method of correctly estimating the frequency offset when the CPE modem has already acquired and is tracking the OFDM burst boundaries in an OFDM-based, wireless communication system. CPS data in an OFDM-based, wireless communication system is modulated as QPSK data in the training tones of the data burst. As long as some bursts have the CPS data modulation and some bursts do not have the CPS data modulation, the CPS data can be recovered. A slip results when there is a linear phase difference across the tones (after the FFT) between the current and the previous burst. This linear phase difference is generally taken care of by the channel estimation obtained using the pilot tones. This phase difference is however, now compensated for correct frequency offset estimation which occurs before the channel estimation and CPS decoding steps.

  • Patent number: 6660800
Abstract: A process for making crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) is disclosed. Crosslinker generation, followed by polymerization of NVP, gives a polymer containing up to 4 wt. % of residual NVP. An aqueous mixture of the polymer is then heated in the presence of a protic acid at pH<4 to eliminate NVP. Finally, the PVP-P is neutralized with aqueous alkali metal hydroxide. The process generates a reduced volume of low-toxicity aqueous waste (<20 L/kg PVP-P) and gives PVP-P that meets important product specifications.

  • Publication number: 20030214762
Abstract: The invention includes a magnetic field detection sensor. The magnetic field detection sensor includes a first magnetic sensor including a first sense layer and a first reference layer. A second magnetic sensor includes a second sense layer and a second reference layer. The first magnetic sensor is physically oriented relative to the second magnetic sensor so that external magnetic fields detected by the magnetic field detection sensor cause a relative magnetic orientation of the first sense layer to the first reference layer to be opposite of a relative magnetic orientation of the second sense layer to the second reference layer. A differential amplifier can senses the relative magnetic orientations of the first junction sensor and the second junction sensor.

  • Patent number: 6643741
Abstract: The invention teaches how to reduce the traffic associated with handling cache lines containing useless data (i.e. cache lines corresponding to pages that have been invalidated). The invention makes it possible to evict such cache lines earlier, to avoid write backs of useless data from such cache lines to main memory, and to avoid transmitting useless data from such cache lines to the requesting remote coherence controller in a multiprocessor system. The present invention describes a mechanism for invalidating cache lines containing useless data transparently and without programmer's involvement. For efficiency, the content of a cache line containing useless data is invalidated only when the line is referenced or is about to be allocated for some new data.
