  • Publication number: 20030204350
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for determining quality metrics associated with a test pattern used to test an integrated circuit (IC). The delays associated with (1) a longest sensitizable path through the IC that includes the delay fault and (2) an actual path exercised by the test pattern through the IC that includes the delay fault are determined. A difference between the delays is then obtained. The difference is then combined with a difference between a speed at which the test is performed and a design specification operating speed of the IC for the actual path. The sum represents the first quality metric associated with the test pattern for a given fault site. The ratio of the delays of the actual path to the longest sensitizable path represents the second quality metric associated with the test pattern for a given fault site.

  • Publication number: 20030202910
Abstract: A temperature control system and method controls temperatures of front and back ends of a shift reactor. Front and back end temperature sensors sense temperatures of the front and back ends of the shift reactor and generate front and back end temperature signals. An actuator injects fluid into the front end of the shift reactor. A controller communicates with the front end temperature sensor, the back end temperature sensor and the actuator and controls the temperature of the front end and the back end. The controller includes primary and secondary control loops. The secondary control loop communicates with the back end temperature sensor. The primary control loop communicates with the front end temperature sensor. The secondary control loop generates a temperature setpoint for the primary control loop. The secondary control loop has a slower response time that the primary control loop.

  • Publication number: 20030190888
Abstract: A method and system for reducing latency in establishment of a real-time communication session, such as an instant chat session for instance. The method and system provides for buffering an initial real-time media signal until a transmission path exists to send the signal along its way toward a receiving station. Upon establishment of the transmission path, the signal may then be sent along its way. Further, the method and system may provide for selectively increasing the paging frequency used for paging certain mobile stations, so as to decrease the time that it takes to establish radio-link connectivity with those mobile stations.

  • Publication number: 20030191988
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for monitoring a loosely coupled system, such as a web-based system and a business-to-business (B2B) system. In the case of a web-based system, exchanges between a web client and a web server may be monitored to determine quality and performance of the web-based system. The exchanges may include objects and attributes communicated from the web server to the web client. The exchanges may also include information about actions performed on objects as a user navigates through web pages displayed by the web client. For example, when the user selects a hyperlink, the monitoring system may recognize the hyperlink as an action. Accordingly, the actions along with the objects and their associated attributes may be recorded. The objects and their associated attributes may then be retrieved from the web server and the recorded actions may be played back against the retrieved objects based on the recorded attributes and the retrieved attributes.

  • Publication number: 20030189603
Abstract: A system and method for organizing and prioritizing recognized text. More particularly, a method and system for categorizing recognized text according to confidence levels in the correctness of the recognized text. The system and method may categorize recognized text into two or more different confidence levels. A user interface can display recognized text based upon the confidence level assigned to that text, thereby drawing a user's attention to that text for which the recognition process has a low confidence in its correctness estimate. The user interface may also allow a user to correct erroneously recognized text with different techniques, according to the level of confidence that the recognition process has in the correctness of the text.

  • Publication number: 20030188246
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating test patterns used to test an integrated circuit (IC). The apparatus comprises first logic that determining a subset of transition fault sites on an IC to be tested, second logic that identifies a longest sensitizable path through each transition fault site of the subset of transition fault sites, and third logic that generates a bounded set of test patterns that test the identified longest sensitizable paths through each transition fault site of the subset of transition fault sites. The present invention combines various aspects of transition fault modeling and path delay fault modeling to enable global delay testing of an IC within reasonable amount of time.

  • Publication number: 20030177414
Abstract: In order to diagnose applications, a specialized knowledge base may be created that is static upon creation but may become dynamic when traversed. The knowledge base may be defined as a decision tree having one or more diagnosis nodes, one or more analysis nodes, and one or more symptom branches. The diagnosis nodes are leaf nodes and indicate proposed diagnoses and/or proposed remedies for an application. The symptom branches may connect analysis nodes to other analysis nodes or analysis nodes to diagnosis nodes, and may indicate possible symptoms of the application. The analysis nodes may be non-leaf nodes and indicate information required to determine which symptom branches to follow during traversal. Additionally, the analysis nodes may indicate additional information required from a collector agent before traversal can be continued. This allows the knowledge base to be utilized dynamically, improving performance and reliability.
