  • Patent number: 10914201
Abstract: An example system includes an engine and an exhaust passage fluidly coupled to the engine. A waste heat recovery system includes a boiler operatively coupled to the exhaust passage, and a condenser fluidly coupled to the boiler. An integrated cooling system includes an engine cooling circuit, a waste heat recovery cooling circuit, a waste heat recovery bypass valve, and a controller. The waste heat recovery bypass valve is operatively coupled to the exhaust passage upstream of the boiler, and is selectively controllable so as to direct at least a portion of the exhaust gas through an exhaust bypass passage so as to bypass the boiler. The controller is in operative communication with the waste heat recovery bypass valve. The controller is structured to determine a cooling demand of the engine, and to control a valve position of the waste heat recovery bypass valve based on the cooling demand.

  • Patent number: 10751419
Abstract: Provided herein are improved methods for the synthesis of reactive conjugate clusters and intermediates used in such methods. In particular, improvements are provided that enhance the synthesis of reactive conjugate clusters by reducing the number of synthetic steps required. The reactive conjugate clusters prepared using the improved methods don't include any transacylation impurities that are formed using existing methods. The improved methods also provide an increase in overall yield and a cost benefit over existing methods.

  • Patent number: 10724471
Abstract: An engine waste heat recovery (WHR) system includes a turbocharger WHR portion, an exhaust WHR portion, an expander in the exhaust WHR portion, a condenser, valves, and a controller. The expander receives a working fluid in a superheated form and converts thermal energy in the working fluid into mechanical energy or electrical energy. The condenser condenses the working fluid for recirculation through the engine WHR system. The recuperator is fluidly coupled between the expander and the condenser to allow the working fluid to flow from the expander to the condenser. The recuperator transfers thermal energy to a flow of the working fluid from the turbocharger WHR portion. Each valve is fluidly coupled to one of the turbocharger WHR portion and the exhaust WHR portion. The controller is electrically coupled to the valves, and the controller selectively controls the valves to selectively circulate the working fluid through the engine WHR system.

  • Patent number: 10501068
Abstract: A method for controlling a powertrain system in response to a command to execute a multi-state shift event for the transmission includes determining an initial output torque limit and determining an initial commanded output torque based upon the initial output torque limit. The powertrain system is controlled to generate torque in response to the initial commanded output torque prior to completion of a first state transition of the multi-state shift event that includes a commanded torque reduction. After completion of the first state transition of the multi-state shift event that includes the commanded torque reduction, a torque ramp rate is determined, and the initial commanded output torque is adjusted based upon the torque ramp rate. The powertrain system is controlled to generate torque in response to the initial commanded output torque and the adjusted initial commanded output torque during a remainder of the multi-state shift event.

  • Patent number: 10363281
Abstract: A composition includes a target pharmaceutical or biological agent, a solution containing the target pharmaceutical or biological agent, and substrate that is soluble in the solution. The substrate is capable of being solidified via a solidification process and the solidification process causes the substrate to become physically or chemically cross-linked, vitrified, or crystallized. As a result of the solidification process, particles are formed. The target pharmaceutical or biological agent within the solution retains proper conformation to ultimately produce a desired effect.
