  • Publication number: 20090037030
Abstract: Information for configuring control apparatus for a power system including a plurality of controlled power supplies is produced using a graphical interface which displays the topology and sequencing of the power supplies in the power system. A database is used to select power supplies to add in determining the power system topology. Sequencing is represented by displacing icons representing the power supplies along lines representing their input and output voltages, and arrows representing startup sequence dependencies. A processor produces the configuration information, consistent with the displayed topology and sequencing, using information for the selected power supplies from the database, for downloading to the control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7485920
Abstract: Semiconductor devices having recombination centers comprised of well-positioned heavy metals. At least one lattice defect region within the semiconductor device is first created using particle beam implantation. Use of particle beam implantation positions the lattice defect region(s) with high accuracy in the semiconductor device. A heavy metal implantation treatment of the device is applied. The lattice defects created by the particle beam implantation act as gettering sites for the heavy metal implantation. Thus, after the creation of lattice defects and heavy metal diffusion, the heavy metal atoms are concentrated in the well-positioned lattice defect region(s).

  • Publication number: 20080196247
Abstract: A method facilitates assembling a turbine. The method includes coupling buckets to a turbine wheel. The method also includes coupling a first end of a cover plate to the turbine wheel such that at least one projection extending from the turbine wheel retains the cover plate in position relative to the turbine wheel and inserting a fastening mechanism through an opening defined in the turbine wheel to secure the cover plate against the turbine wheel. The cover plate facilitates reducing dovetail leakage across the buckets coupled to the turbine wheel.

  • Patent number: 7340747
Abstract: A client application interface, or toolkit, provides a specified, exposed set of software components, or objects, for external user access. Development of a common interface for external user applications allows a remote access object model to define the interface corresponding to a base object model. The remote access object model, therefore, defines a generic toolkit upon which a user builds a custom application to suit individual remote access needs. Development of a single remote access object model limits regressive testing and provides a known baseline of tested functionality for the remote interface without compromising the existing base object model. Limited exposure of the objects in the client application interface avoids security, integrity, and inconsistency breaches.

  • Patent number: 7318837
Abstract: A balloon-expandable stent formed from a customized alloy formulation. The stent alloy has a either a high, variable or no work hardening rate, very high modulus of elasticity (Young's modulus), and a low yield point. A stent constructed of a material with this combination of properties undergoes significant plastic deformation upon deployment in vivo to its implantation diameter and exhibits minimum recoil for better sizing. The plastic deformation also raises the subsequent yield point of the stent material resulting in a stronger stent upon implantation that is more resistant to vascular loading.

  • Publication number: 20070294490
Abstract: A memory leveling system updates physical memory blocks, or blocks, to maintain generally even wear. The system maintains an update count for each block, incrementing a wear level count when the update count reaches a wear level threshold. The system compares a wear level of blocks to determine whether to update a block in place or move data on the block to a less-worn physical block. The system groups the blocks into wear level groups identified by a common wear level to identify blocks that are being worn at a faster or slower than average rate. If an empty block count of a least worn group drops below a threshold, the system moves data from one of the blocks in the least worn group to an empty block in a most worn group.

  • Publication number: 20070259017
Abstract: A medical device having a drug-eluting coating that includes a pharmaceutical compound or, more generally, a therapeutic material housed within pores of a zeolite carrier. The zeolite carrier has an open porous structure with reservoirs for holding the therapeutic material. The therapeutic material loaded zeolites may be suspended or dispersed within a bioerodible polymer matrix to provide controlled delivery of the therapeutic material. Zeolite drug carriers may have enhanced or optimally engineered pore sizes for a particular therapeutic material and release profile. Along with a therapeutic material, reservoirs of a zeolite drug delivery system may include a release agent. The release agent may be used to entrap the therapeutic material until such time as a triggering condition is met that prompts the release agent to activate and thereby release the therapeutic material from the zeolite reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20070244546
Abstract: A valve replacement system that can be used for treating abnormalities of the right ventricular outflow tract in a nonsymmetrical region of a vessel or conduit that includes a prosthetic valve device and a foundation structure. The foundation structure contacts a portion of the inner wall of a vessel or conduit, and undergoes a shape change resulting in a corresponding change in the wall of the vessel or conduit. As a result, the lumen of the conduit is made symmetrical, and is complementary to the exterior surface of the stented valve, and thereby, improves the functioning of the valve. Another embodiment of the invention includes a method for replacing a pulmonary valve that includes forming a symmetrical region in a lumen of a conduit and placing a stented valve in the symmetrical region.

  • Patent number: 7254814
Abstract: Methods and apparatus operate in a computer system to manage initiation and operation of plug-in modules providing plug-in services. The plug-in manager obtains identities of a plurality of plug-in modules and retrieves a dependency list indicating respective plug-in services provided by, and required by, each plug-in module identified in the identities of the plug-in modules. The plug-in manager then calculates a plug-in initiation order based upon the dependency list indicating respective plug-in services provided by, and required by, each plug-in module. The plug-in manager then initiates service operation of plug-in modules according to the plug-in initiation order, such that if a first plug-in module provides a service required by a second plug-in module, the first plug-in module is initiated such that the service provided by the first plug-in module is available to the second plug-in module when required by the second plug-in module.
