  • Publication number: 20140128080
Abstract: Aspects related to pre-configuring for a serving cell change to neighbor cells are described. In one example, a user equipment (UE) may camp on a first cell. The UE may receive at least one communication including target cell pre-configuration information for one or more neighbor cells eligible for pre-configuration. The UE may determine that the first cell is no longer providing adequate service and identify a target cell, which may be one of the one or more neighbor cells, but is not part of an active set for the UE. The UE may transmit a message (e.g., Event 1d) requesting a serving cell change to the target cell. The UE may configure to receive service from the target cell based on the pre-configuration information associated with the target cell. The UE may receive an indication to perform the serving cell change and perform the serving cell change.

  • Publication number: 20140120908
Abstract: In one aspect, an exemplary method involves a WCD: (i) determining a likelihood of roaming, wherein the likelihood of roaming indicates a likelihood that the WCD will be handed off from a preferred coverage area to a non-preferred coverage area; and (ii) using the likelihood of roaming as a basis for managing an active set of the WCD. In particular, the WCD may manage its active set by setting at least one active-set parameter affecting the number of active sectors in an active set of the WCD, and then maintaining its active set according to the setting of the at least one active-set parameter. According to an exemplary embodiment, a WCD will make an effort to increase the number of sectors in its active set when the likelihood of roaming is greater, and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 8712462
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for determining the optimal bandwidth fractions for all the users in each frequency band in a wireless communication system to maximize the net sum of user utilities. User utilities are functions of average rates of users, where different averaging rules can be used for different users. The standard approach of computing an optimal scheduler strategy involves the solution of a convex optimization problem that has a complexity on the order of O(N3) for N flows. This approach is not feasible for online implementation having a large number of flows. The method of the present work employs an efficient computational algorithm that obtains the optimal bandwidth fractions in O(N) time. This feature makes the method suitable for implementation in wideband cellular systems like LTE (Long Term Evolution) and UMB (Ultra Mobile Broadband).

  • Patent number: 8697506
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a heterostructure device is provided that includes implantation of ions into a portion of a surface of a multi-layer structure. Iodine ions are implanted between a first region and a second region to form a third region. A charge is depleted from the two dimensional electron gas (2DEG) channel in the third region to form a reversibly electrically non-conductive pathway from the first region to the second region. On applying a voltage potential to a gate electrode proximate to the third region allows electrical current to flow from the first region to the second region.

  • Patent number: 8699497
Abstract: A Fiber Channel switch is provided for a relative addressing scheme for domain values to avoid losing portions of a Fiber Channel identifier. At a Fiber Channel switch, data is stored that assigns a relative domain field value to a run-time domain. The relative domain field value used for a Fiber Channel identifier is determined for devices connected to the switch based on the run-time domain of the devices and the virtual storage area network in which the devices are active. A Fiber Channel identifier is stored in a memory of the switch that comprises the relative domain field value determined for the device together with area and port values for the device. The relative domain value is either a reserved domain field value for an existing virtual storage area network or any of the regular domain field values for a new virtual storage area network.

  • Patent number: 8701127
Abstract: A computing system receives a web services request to invoke a method of web Application Programming Interface (API). In response to receiving the web services request, the computing system invokes a method of a language-dependent API of a client component in a collaboration system. The client component communicates with a collaboration server component in the collaboration system using a proprietary communications protocol. The method of the language-dependent API is a method to obtain data from the collaboration server component. After invoking the method, the computing system sends a web services response whose contents depend on the data obtained from the collaboration server component.

  • Patent number: 8689822
Abstract: A pressure control system remotely controls pressure within one or more remote zones, each respectively connected to an enclosure through a conduit, by controlling flow of a fluid into and out of each enclosure. The pressure of the fluid is measured within each enclosure. An estimated pressure within each zone is computed, as a function of the measured pressure in the enclosure and known characteristics of the conduit and the zone. For each zone, an inlet proportional valve and an outlet proportional valve of each enclosure is operated so as to control the input flow rate of the fluid into the respective enclosure and the output flow rate of the fluid out of the enclosure as a function of a pressure set point and the estimated pressure, thereby regulating pressure within the zone in accordance with the pressure set point.

  • Patent number: 8693267
Abstract: A system and a method to improve signal synchronization in a plurality of signal paths traversing multiple voltage domains. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure a memory arrangement is preferred for signal synchronization. All read/write and clocks signals and other control signals are driven to periphery supply (Vp) levels, except wordline (WL[i]) signals which are driven at core supply (Vc) level. By doing so, lower average and peak current consumption associated with core supply (Vc) is achieved with constant delays and maintaining required signal synchronization in the signal paths traversing multiple voltage domains.
