  • Patent number: 8615809
Abstract: A web site can be authenticated by a third party authentication service. A user designates an authentication device that is a shared secret between the user and the authentication service. A web site page includes a URL that points to the authentication service. The URL includes a digital signature by the web site. When the user receives the page, the user's browser issues a request to the authentication service, which attempts to authenticate the digital signature. If the authentication is successful, it sends the authentication device to the user computer.

  • Publication number: 20130334510
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide electronic devices such as OLEDs that have enhanced mechanical integrity and prolonged shelf, by minimizing the spread of a delamination region using topographical non-uniformities introduced in the device structure. For example, a device may be made deliberately non-planar by introducing multiple energy barriers which can prevent or minimize the propagation of a delamination, because the delamination will have to cross the energy barriers in order to spread to a larger area.

  • Publication number: 20130340027
Abstract: Described is a technology by which a target machine (managed device) is provisioned with arbitrary states for subsequent communication with a central authority, in which the configuration provisioning of the device is decoupled from the collection of the provisioning data. In a provisioning phase, arbitrary state information for provisioning the managed device is obtained and packaged in a container. In a configuration phase, the container is accessed, and the arbitrary state information is unpackaged to apply state to the managed device. The target machine thus may be provisioned with arbitrary states without actively communicating with the central authority.

  • Publication number: 20130338787
Abstract: The present embodiments provide systems and methods for deploying at least a portion of a stent. In one embodiment, the system comprises a cannula having an outer surface, and at least one coiled member having proximal and distal ends and a plurality of turns disposed therebetween. One of the proximal and distal ends of the coiled member is secured to the outer surface of the cannula, and the other of the proximal and distal ends of the coiled member is unsecured relative to the outer surface of the cannula. A portion of a stent is looped around the unsecured end of the coiled member and disposed within spacing between adjacent turns of the coiled member. Rotation of the cannula subsequently causes the portion of the stent to disengage from the coiled member.

  • Patent number: 8612964
Abstract: A method and system for migrating a UML model across UML profiles. After retrieving a UML model, a source UML element, a source UML profile, a source stereotype, and a source meta-class, the target UML profile, stereotype and meta-class are looked up in a mapping table based on the source UML profile, stereotype, and meta-class. The target UML profile is applied on the UML model. Based on the source meta-class being different from the target meta-class, relationships of the source UML element are retrieved, a target UML element is created, the relationships are copied to the target UML element, and the source UML element is removed from the UML model. The target stereotype is applied to the target UML element. The source stereotype is removed from the target UML element. The source UML profile is removed from the UML model.

  • Patent number: 8612298
Abstract: Disclosed systems and methods provide media content through an electronic commerce server. In one implementation, a method for providing electronic content is provided. The method includes receiving an order of a user. The order of the user may comprise a request of the user for a physical copy of media content. The commerce server may determine whether to provide to the user an electronic copy of the media content based at least on the order. Further, a request to access the electronic copy of the media content is received from the user. The method further grants the user access to the electronic copy of the media content based at least on the request to access the electronic copy of the media content.

  • Publication number: 20130325633
Abstract: The amount of time that an advertisement-presenting web page is displayed by a browser is tracked. The amount of money that is charged to an advertiser, whose advertisement is contained within the web page, is determined based on this amount of time. One way of tracking this amount of time is by tracking the amount of time that passes in between the moment that the web page is loaded by the web browser and the moment in which the web page goes out of focus. If the web page is displayed for less than a specified minimum amount of time during a first session, then the advertisement is displayed again during a second session. Once the advertisement has been displayed for a specified maximum amount of time, the advertisement is replaced with another advertisement on the web page.

  • Patent number: 8600378
Abstract: Methods for evaluating an access probe transmitted by a wireless communication device (WCD) in a wireless communication system are disclosed. When an access probe is received by a radio access network (RAN), the RAN determines if the WCD that transmitted the access probe is physically located outside a predetermined distance from the RAN. If the WCD is located outside the predetermined distance from the RAN, the RAN evaluates whether a threshold air interface condition is met as part of a determination to accept the access probe and establish communication between the RAN and the WCD.

  • Patent number: 8600392
Abstract: A mobile station requests origination of a call and reports signal strength measurements of pilot signals from multiple sectors, where some of the sectors support a preferred air interface configuration (such as RC 11) and some do not. The signal strength measurements may be evaluated to determine which sectors to use for the call and whether to use RC 11 or a default air interface configuration (such as RC 3 or RC 4) for the call. Sectors that support the preferred air interface configuration may be evaluated using a first threshold, and sectors that do not support the preferred air interface configuration may be evaluated using a second threshold. The first threshold can be greater than the second threshold, in order to favor the use of sectors that support the preferred air interface configuration over sectors that do not.

  • Patent number: 8601390
Abstract: A two-dimensional canvas onto which heterogenic objects of various types may be arranged side-by-side. Each type of object has an associated set of control(s), the control(s) at least partially differing from one type to the next. The two-dimensional canvas is fixed in one dimension, but extensible in a second dimension. The canvas may be displayed in miniaturized for with a view box superimposed upon the canvas. As the view box is moved over the miniaturized canvas, the enlarged editable portion of the corresponding canvas is displayed in an edit view. The canvas may also display clusters of objects that are arranged in dashboards. In that case, the display might include a dashboard review area that allows a user to select the appropriate dashboard to display.

  • Publication number: 20130318391
Abstract: Techniques for managing caching use of a solid state device are disclosed. In some embodiments, the techniques may be realized as a method for managing caching use of a solid state device. Management of the caching use may include receiving, at a host device, notification of failure of a solid state device. In response to the notification a cache mode may be set to uncached. In uncached mode input/output (I/O) requests may be directed to uncached storage (e.g., disk).
