  • Patent number: 7867566
Abstract: A method for fabricating a reinforced matrix composite comprising the step of providing a composite preform having a fibrous structure and applying matrix material onto the preform in locations along the preform. A barrier material is applied to at least a portion of the coated preform to direct the flow of matrix material into the preform. The composite preform is heated to a temperature sufficient to render the matrix material viscous and insufficient to cure the matrix material. The pressure to the interior of the composite preform is reduced, while the pressure to the barrier material is increased. The temperature is maintained to flow the matrix material into the composite preform and to force gases from the fibrous structure. The composite preform is then cured and cooled to form a reinforced matrix composite having a low void content and a substantially uniform matrix distribution.

  • Publication number: 20100237620
Abstract: A turbine unit (11) comprising a passage (23) through which a fluid may pass. Located within the passage (23) is a driving turbine blade set (25) upstream from a pumping turbine blade set (27) wherein the diameter of the pumping turbine blade is larger than the diameter of the driving turbine blade set. The driving turbine blade set and pumping turbine blade set are mounted in opposed relation whereby the turbine blade sets are in reversed orientation with respect to each other such that in simultaneous operation a region between the two turbine blade sets has a lower pressure than the fluid pressure at an opening of the passage. This induces a greater mass flow rate through the turbine unit than would otherwise be created by a pumping turbine blade set equal to or smaller in diameter than the driving turbine blade set.

  • Publication number: 20100226425
Abstract: An encoding data processor generates a video material item marked copy by representing a payload data word as a code word and embedding the code word into a copy of the video material item. A preprocessor divides the payload word into plural parts, forms plural initial values from the plural parts, each initial value formed by adding parts of the payload data word to each initial value successively starting with the first part added to the first initial value, and adds the first and second to the second initial value so each subsequent initial value includes all parts of the payload data word of the previous initial values and a new part of the payload data word. An encryption processor receives each initial value and generates an encrypted data stream using a payload encryption key. A combiner combines the encrypted payload data word with the video material item.

  • Publication number: 20100186248
Abstract: An alignment tool removably attachable to a bit (e.g. a drill bit) for aligning a workpiece to the bit. The tool has a bit grip or a bit clamp which may have a pair of bit grippers, an aligner, which may be a pointer supported by a pointer mount, a stylus or a laser, and a mechanical linkage of the bit grip to the aligner. When the aligner is aligned with a target, a tip of a bit clamped by the bit grip would also be aligned with that target. A first stylus link may be movably connected to a second stylus link at the pointer mount. The first and second stylus links may be pivotally connected to the bit clamp. The bit clamp, the first and second stylus links may cooperate to align a central axis of the pointer with a central axis of the bit.
