  • Patent number: 10801883
Abstract: The apparatus and methods include moving an optical fiber over a fiber path that includes a marking location at which resides a printer unit. The moving optical fiber has an amount of undamped fiber vibration that can exceed a fiber vibration tolerance at high fiber speeds. The printer unit is configured to dispense ink onto the optical fiber to form wet ink marks along the optical fiber as it moves past the marking location. The wet ink marks are dried and counted for quality control. The marked optical fiber is then covered with an overcoat to protect the ink marks. A position sensor measures an amount of vibration of the optical fiber substantially at the marking location. One or more vibration dampers disposed along the fiber path are used to reduce the fiber vibration below the fiber vibration tolerance. This allows for high-speed marking of the optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 10727610
Abstract: An apparatus for exchanging liquid crystal (LC) between two areas of an antenna array in an antenna and method for using the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the antenna comprises a waveguide; an antenna element array having a plurality of radiating radio-frequency (RF) antenna elements, and a structure in an RF inactive area outside of, and at an outer periphery of, the antenna element array that is without a ground plane instantiating the waveguide. The structure collects LC from an area between substrates forming the RF antenna elements due to LC expansion and provides LC to the area between the substrates forming the RF antenna elements due to LC contraction.

  • Publication number: 20190287741
Abstract: An actuator assembly for actuating an electrical switch housed in sealed electrical enclosure is disclosed. The actuator assembly includes a handle assembly including a handle positioned on an exterior of a cover of the sealed enclosure, a trip bracket positioned within the sealed enclosure and a shaft connecting the handle to the trip bracket. A slider actuator is slidably mounted over an electrical switch positioned within the enclosure and operatively associated with or coupled to a toggle of the electrical switch. The slider actuator has a drive link which is adapted to engage the trip bracket such that rotation of the handle activates the drive link which causes linear movement of the slider actuator to move the electrical switch between on and off positions. The use of the slider actuator allows a higher density of electrical switches to be stacked within the sealed enclosure.
