  • Patent number: 9913579
Abstract: Method and systems are presented for analyzing a wavefront using a spectral wavefront analyzer to extract optical phase and spectral information at a two dimensional array of sampling points across the wavefront, wherein the relative phase information between the sampling points is maintained. Methods and systems are also presented for measuring an eye by reflecting a wavefront of an eye and measuring the wavefront at a plurality of angles to provide a map of the off-axis relative wavefront curvature and aberration of the eye. The phase accuracy between wavelengths and sample points over a beam aperture offered by these methods and systems have a number of ocular applications including corneal and anterior eye tomography, high resolution retinal imaging, and wavefront analysis as a function of probe beam incident angle for determining myopia progression and for designing and testing lenses for correcting myopia.

  • Publication number: 20180064893
Abstract: A rescue device for a heart attack victim and a method of rescuing a heart attack victim is provided. The device includes a first tube that is configured to be inserted into the victim's mouth so as to assist in performing CPR and restoring normal breathing by creating a high-pressure environment within the victim's mouth and thus inflating the victim's lungs. The device further includes a second tube that is configured to allow a rescuer to create the high-pressure environment in the victim's mouth by blowing into a second tube of the device. A filter is positioned between the first and second tubes to reduce sanitary concerns and to prevent foreign objects from traveling between mouths of the victim and the rescuer.

  • Publication number: 20180048590
Abstract: A method and system for controlling casting to a media renderer is provided. A casting control system receives from a requesting device a request to cast media to the media renderer. In response to receiving the request, the casting control system identifies a gatekeeper for the media renderer and notifies the gatekeeper that a request has been received to cast media to the media renderer. After the casting control system receives from the gatekeeper an indication to grant or deny the request, the casting control system allows or denies the casting of the media to the media renderer.

  • Patent number: 9890545
Abstract: An erection system for one or more elongated elements, such as structural columns, pre-fabricated reinforcing cages or tower-like structures includes one or more longitudinal lifting bars running parallel with the elongated element's longitudinal direction. The lifting bars are installed within or onto the elongated element through apertures in the element's upper and lower support pieces. A rigging system supports the upper portion of the lifting bar. The lifting bar's lower portion includes external threading to receive an internally threaded load bearing nut. The load bearing nut supports the elongated element's weight onto the lifting bar's lower portion. The upper and lower support pieces stabilize the elongated element with lateral restraint. Removing the load bearing nut and raising the lifting bar up through the support piece's apertures extracts the lifting bar from the elongated element.

  • Publication number: 20180036956
Abstract: Vapors in the fuel tank of a vehicle are collected in a carbon canister. An ejector or aspirator is used to purge the carbon canister in a pressure-charged engine in which a positive pressure exists in the intake. A compact ejector includes a substantially planar flange and a venturi tube coupled to the flange with a central axis of the venturi tube substantially parallel to the flange. By manufacturing the ejector in two pieces, dimensions within the ejector: throat, converging section, and diverging section, is more accurate than prior art manufacturing techniques thereby providing better flow characteristics throughout the boost range.

  • Publication number: 20180008359
Abstract: A robot comprising: a base; a flexible arm extending from the base and having: a plurality of joints whereby the configuration of the arm can be altered, a plurality of drivers arranged to drive the joints to move, and an attachment structure for attaching a tool to the arm; and a control unit configured to control the drivers and to receive inputs from sensors, and operable in a mode in which, whilst a tool is attached to the attachment structure and captive in a port, it: (i) controls the drivers to permit the arm to be reconfigured by the action of an external force applied to the arm so as to cause the tool to be retracted from the port along a longitudinal axis of the tool; and (ii) on receiving sensor input indicating that the arm has been reconfigured so as to cause the tool to be retracted from the port along a longitudinal axis of the tool, controls the drivers to reconfigure the arm so as to agitate the tool transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tool.

  • Publication number: 20180013277
Abstract: An adjustable mud ring assembly is provided that includes a base plate, a movable ring, and an indexing screw configured to move the movable ring with respect to the base plate between a first position and a second position. The base plate has a junction box connecting portion, a support connecting portion, and a stationary ring. The base plate can have an offset distance (D2) between the junction box connecting portion and the support connecting portion where the offset distance is sufficient to allow the movable ring to move into stationary ring to the first position without protruding, at a lowermost point, into a junction box connected to the junction box connecting portion.

  • Patent number: 9861277
Abstract: Interferometry-based methods and apparatus are presented for analyzing one or more wavefronts from a sample, in which the sample wavefronts are interfered with two or more reference wavefronts to produce two or more interferograms in a sufficiently short time period for the interferograms to be captured in a single exposure of an image capture device such as a CCD array. Each interferogram has a unique carrier frequency dependent on the angle between a respective pair of sample and reference wavefronts. In certain embodiments multiple sample and/or reference wavefronts are generated using scanning mirrors, while in other embodiments utilizing multi-wavelength beams multiple sample and/or reference wavefronts are generated with wavelength dispersive elements. The methods and apparatus are suitable for measuring aberrations at one or more positions on the retina of an eye.

  • Publication number: 20170363415
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are presented for multichannel optical coherence tomography. Light from a wavelength tuneable or steppable optical source is separated into one or more sample beams and one or more reference beams, and the one or more sample beams directed onto a sample to form one or more interaction regions. A plurality of returning probe beams are collected and mixed with the one or more reference beams to form an interference pattern comprising a plurality of interferograms having at least two distinct carrier frequencies. The multichannel optical apparatus can be provided with polarisation discrimination by mixing the returning probe beams with two orthogonally polarised reference beams to form one or more interference patterns each comprising a plurality of interferograms having at least two distinct carrier frequencies.

  • Patent number: 9836325
Abstract: One embodiment of the present disclosure sets forth an effective way to maintain fairness and order in the scheduling of common resource access requests related to replay operations. Specifically, a streaming multiprocessor (SM) includes a total order queue (TOQ) configured to schedule the access requests over one or more execution cycles. Access requests are allowed to make forward progress when needed common resources have been allocated to the request. Where multiple access requests require the same common resource, priority is given to the older access request. Access requests may be placed in a sleep state pending availability of certain common resources. Deadlock may be avoided by allowing an older access request to steal resources from a younger resource request. One advantage of the disclosed technique is that older common resource access requests are not repeatedly blocked from making forward progress by newer access requests.
