  • Publication number: 20040172424
Abstract: A server is implemented with a modified file open action, which, when a user performs the modified open, initially opens a file without locking the file. When a user indicates (either explicitly or implicitly) that the user is attempting to or intending to open the file, the file can then be locked for editing. In this way, the default action when a user requests a file is to open the file without denying other users access to the file. Then, when the user indicates that editing should occur, the lock for the file is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20040172425
Abstract: A method for managing a first and second version of an electronic file is disclosed. In the method, first and second versions of an electronic file are recognized and a synchronization event is initiated. An application program interface accesses the first and second versions, compares information associated with each, generates a result and reports the result to the first software application. A second software application generates a user interface in accordance with a feature of the second software application, where the electronic file is associated with the second software application, and the user interface is displayed on a display device.

  • Patent number: 6776316
Abstract: A method of tucking a pair of refastenable side seams into a body portion of a pant-like garment in which the fold locations can be controlled and the likelihood of creases occurring in the fastening components is reduced or eliminated. The garment is positioned either on one vacuum conveyor or between an upper vacuum conveyor and a lower vacuum conveyor. Vacuum zones from the conveyors hold the garment in place. While the garment is held by the vacuum zones, the refastenable side seams are pushed between the front and back regions toward one another with the fastening components being placed in a flat configuration.

  • Publication number: 20040078878
Abstract: A wireless signal is propagated via a communication channel and received by a vent stop. The vent stop, upon receiving and decoding the signal, conducts an electric current to release the vent stop from a plumbing vent. In one embodiment, an intralumen audio signal is communicated to the vent stop and an adhesive joint securing the vent stop to the vent pipe is released upon passing an electric current through the joint. In one embodiment, an electric motor or solenoid releases the stop from the vent pipe. A spring or other energy storage device ejects the stop from the vent pipe following release.

  • Publication number: 20040078798
Abstract: A computing device with an embedded microprocessor or micro-controller, including a software stack which comprises a content manager, and a runtime environment positioned in the stack above or together with a hardware abstraction layer. The content manager is not specific to any one design of runtime environment or hardware abstraction layer, so that several different designs of runtime environment and/or hardware abstraction layer can each operate with the same content manager. This de-couples the content manager from the runtime environment and/or hardware abstraction layer (e.g. a Java Virtual machine; elements of the operating system). The core advantage is that a single content manager can be used across multiple runtime environments and/or hardware abstraction layers; runtime environments and OSs can therefore be swapped without needing to re-write the content manager.
