  • Publication number: 20080241337
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the continuous production of a powdered product from a product in the liquid state in the form of a solution-, suspension- or emulsion-type mixture in an aqueous medium. According to the invention, during the first step (E1) of the method, the product in the liquid state is transformed into a product in the viscous state. The invention is characterised in that it includes at least one overrun step (E2, E4) and at least one product-drying step (E3, E6) comprising at least a first step (E3) involving thermomechanical treatment with at last one thermomechanical treatment machine into which the viscous state product and a determined amount of powered product from the same family as the liquid state product are injected simultaneously. The treatment machine is configured to mix the viscous state product and the powdered product such as to produce solidified particles of the product upon contact with the ambient air.

  • Publication number: 20080190126
Abstract: A refrigerant system operates with tandem compressors (22, 24). A control (41) for the refrigerant system is operable to change the capacities of each of the compressors dependent upon a load on the system. The control determines the percentage of maximum load capacity currently being utilized by each of the compressors. A compressor with the highest percentage is decreased in capacity should the control determine that excess capacity is being provided. Conversely, the control will increase the capacity of a compressor having a lower percentage, if insufficient capacity is being provided to meet a load on the system.

  • Publication number: 20080164015
Abstract: The invention relates to a cross-counterflow heat exchanger, such as a cross-counterflow radiator for a motor vehicle, having an improved inlet/outlet tank wherein the inlet and outlet chambers are laterally off-set allowing the inlet and outlet ports to be oriented in the same general direction toward the fluid source; more particularly, the inlet and outlet chambers are tapered thereby providing improved flow distribution and pressure drop for fluid flow; still more particularly, the return tank inlet and outlet chambers are contra-tapered allowing the inlet and outlet ports to be substantially aligned resulting in a laterally compact heat exchanger.

  • Publication number: 20080164778
Abstract: A magnetic motor which includes an elongated, horizontally disposed frame having a drive shaft rotatably mounted therein with the drive shaft being supported at its opposite ends by titanium bearing blocks. Opposing first and second slide panels having bar magnets at the inner surfaces thereof are movably mounted on the frame and are movable towards the drive shaft which has magnets mounted thereon in a helical fashion. As the slide panels with the magnets thereon are moved towards the drive shaft, the magnets on the slide panels will cause the magnets on the drive shaft to be repelled thereby causing the rotation of the drive shaft. Movement of the slide panels is controlled by actuators.

  • Patent number: 7389309
Abstract: A method for managing a first and second version of an electronic file is disclosed. In the method, first and second versions of an electronic file are recognized and a synchronization event is initiated. An application program interface accesses the first and second versions, compares information associated with each, generates a result and reports the result to the first software application. A second software application generates a user interface in accordance with a feature of the second software application, where the electronic file is associated with the second software application, and the user interface is displayed on a display device.

  • Publication number: 20080137708
Abstract: The invention provides a method for the determination of the phase change characteristics of a hazardous material, the method comprising optically recording images of a sample of the material and objectively evaluating the images. The phase change characteristics generally relate to a solid/liquid or liquid/solid phase change, and the method finds particular application in the determination of the crystallisation points of hazardous materials, most particularly radioactive materials. The images are typically recorded by means of a camera, and evaluated using a computer, which is able to objectively determine the point at which a phase change is first seen to occur, and thereby provide accurate, reliable and objective data.
