Abstract: A process for recommending choices to a user uses a first model representing the user's subconscious and a second model representing the user's consciousness. The process comprises receiving data and performing, using the second model, a simulation by modeling the user and a third party to derive a simulation result that determines how the user would react to a situation based at least in part on the received data. Using the first model and the simulation, a first set of recommendation choices based at least in part on the received data is derived, and a set of recommendation choices for presentation based on the first set of recommendation choices is determined and presented to the user. As the user is making a selection, the user is monitored for conscious decisions and subconscious reactions, which are used to update the first model and the second model.

Abstract: An event recorder playback system for a plurality of locomotives in a consist is described, including a processor configured to receive and save a first dataset and a second dataset associated with operation of a first locomotive and a second locomotive, respectively, in the consist. The processor may determine, using the processor, a point of synchronization of the first dataset and the second dataset with respect to time, and align the first dataset and the second dataset using the point of synchronization. The event recorder playback system may be further configured to output the first dataset and the second dataset on an output device. The output is aligned with respect to time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling the operation of a dispenser system are provided. In particular, one or more sensors associated with the dispenser system may be configured to detect one or more signals indicative of a container proximate the dispenser system and/or a level of water or ice within the container. The dispenser system may include an analog-to-digital converter configured to sample the detected signals at a predetermined sample frequency. The dispenser system may further include a direct memory access controller configured to store the sampled signals in memory without having to rout the sampled signals through a central processing unit associated with dispenser system. The operation of the dispenser system can then be controlled based at least in part on the sampled signals.

Abstract: A medical fluid communication system is disclosed comprising a pump controller and a fluid detector. The fluid detector detects characteristics of the fluid and provides fluid measurements to the pump controller, which detects if the fluid is flowing in the medication delivery system. In the event fluid is not flowing due to an occlusion, the pump controller may attempt to resolve the occlusion or may provide a warning to a user that an occlusion is occurring.

Abstract: A method of installing a panel member on a frame assembly includes the steps of providing a panel member having inner and outer surfaces and providing one or more positioning assemblies on the inner surface of the panel. The positioning assemblies each having an adjustable positioning member adapted to engage a portion of the frame assembly. The method further includes setting the positioning members to determine a registration point for the panel member along the frame assembly. One or more driving assemblies are then provided on the inner surface of the panel, each having a biasing member adapted to engage a portion of the frame assembly to drive the panel member towards the registration point on the frame assembly.

Abstract: A method for recommending choices to a user comprises receiving data. A first set of recommendation choices based on the data is derived using a first model that models a user's subconscious reactions (i.e., intuition) to the data, and a second set of recommendation choices based on the data is derived using a second model that models the user's consciousness. The first and second sets of recommendation choices are blended using a blending function based on characteristics of a domain of the data to create a third set of recommendation choices that are arranged in an order, which is presented to the user. A conscious decision of the user and subconscious reactions of the user are monitored, and data representing the subconscious reactions of the user and data representing the conscious decisions of the user are appended to a first and second memory space, respectively.

Abstract: A gas detector and method are presented. The gas detector includes a launcher unit for coupling and merging light beams in mid-infrared and infrared wavelength ranges into a single light beam and directing the merged single light beam towards a gas flow path; a receiver unit for generating at least one photo detector current signal based on the light beam transmitted through the gas flow path; and a control unit for processing at least one photo detector current signal to measure concentration of the at least two gases present in the gas flow path.

Abstract: A window assembly for partition walls. The window assembly includes a plurality of connector assemblies that are configured to be connected to a partition frame around an opening through the partition frame. Each connector assembly includes a base structure and at least one movable retainer that is biased towards an engaged position. The window assembly also includes a subframe including two pairs of elongated subframe members having opposite ends that are rigidly interconnected to define a generally rectangular central opening. The subframe further defines oppositely facing inner and outer side faces. The subframe includes a connecting portion protruding away from the inner side face and engaging the movable retainer to connect the subframe to the connector assemblies. The window assembly further includes at least one sheet of light-transmitting material secured to the subframe and extending across the central opening.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes enabling a user of event recorder playback software to select a past time segment of recorded locomotive event data. The method includes presenting recorded video data recorded by one or more cameras on the locomotive during the past time segment, presenting recorded GPS map data indicative of the geographical position of the locomotive during the past time segment, and presenting recorded locomotive operational data recorded during the past time segment. The presentations of recorded video data, recorded GPS map data, and recorded locomotive operational data are synchronized based on a common attribute associated with all of the recorded data. Implementation of a select animation process to one or more of the presentations of recorded data results in the simultaneous implementation of the same select animation process to another of the presentations of recorded data.

Abstract: This application discloses a method for using closed captions to initiate display of related content. A computing device obtains closed captions of a video stream displayed to a user of the computing device, and identifies in the closed captions a set of information items including one or more emphasized words that are relevant for identifying information of one or more related content files. The computing device then transmits the emphasized words to a server that is distinct from a source of the video stream, and obtains therefrom the information of the one or more content files related to the emphasized words. In response to obtaining the information of the one or more content files and without user intervention, the computing device causes an application to be invoked for presenting the one or more content files to the user of the computing device.

Abstract: A washing machine including a suspension system is provided. The suspension system includes a wash tub, a basket rotatably coupled within the wash tub, and a drive and motor assembly. The washing machine further includes a controller configured initiate a spin cycle by increasing a spin speed of the basket to a target spin speed, identify an out-of-balance load prior to reaching the target spin speed, and limit the spin speed of the basket to a spin speed lower than a natural frequency of the suspension system for a predefined period of time.

Abstract: An internal fixed bone plates provided for load bearing and non-load bearing fixation for a rotational or translational osteotomy procedure for hallux valgus correction in the first metatarsal bone of the foot. The example include a set design plate having screw holes for attachment of the fixed bone plate to the first metatarsal bone of the foot. Screw holes are located on the plate, including screw holes on top or sides of the plate and screw holes at the ends of the plate. A temporary small holding wire hole may be located in the plate to hold the plate to the bone temporarily. This plate allows both angled screw fixation of various movable, rotational and translational osteotomy and locking screw hole capability to ensure stability when fixating the preferred rotational and translational osteotomy procedure.

Abstract: In some implementations, a method for using closed captions in a double display scenario includes, obtaining a video stream configured to be displayed on a first display device. The video stream includes closed captions. The method also includes, identifying one or more symbols or words included in the closed captions; and obtaining a set of instructions. The set of instructions includes instructions to display content information relating to at least one symbol or word in the one or more symbols or words. The method further includes, in response to obtaining, and in accordance with, the set of instructions, executing one or more applications based on a type of the content information; and formatting for display, on a second display device, output from the one or more applications. The applications include one of: a web browser, a music application, a feed reader application, a coupon application, and a content viewer.
