Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a broadcast service in a communication system is provided. The method includes creating a seed key pair including a first key and a second key, transmitting the seed key pair to a terminal to which the broadcast service is to be provided, creating a certain number of encryption keys using the seed key pair, the certain number corresponding to a lifetime of the seed key pair, encrypting broadcast service data for the lifetime using the encryption keys, and broadcasting the encrypted broadcast service data.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for the compulsory viewing of advertisements in conjunction with a DRM technique for protecting a multimedia service by obligating a user to view advertisements on the device of the user includes, upon receipt of a request for the provision of content, determining whether or not information on compulsory advertisement viewing is included in a rights object for the requested content, if information on compulsory advertisement viewing is included, detecting the advertisement relevant to the requested content, playing the detected advertisement for a predetermined compulsory playback time, and providing the requested content upon the completion of the playback of the advertisement.

Abstract: A system and method for managing an encryption key are provided, which include receiving, from a DRM agent, an RO request message for receiving content; generating a KSP including a first key and a second key; applying hash chains with different directions to the first key and to the second key to generate an encryption key for the content; and transmitting, to the DRM agent, a response message including a context element having an identifier of the content and a key information element. The key information element includes a first encryption key element; a rights encryption key information element; and an encryption data element.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a Forward Error Correction (FEC) packet block including a plurality of FEC packets in a multimedia system are provided. The method includes generating a plurality of first FEC packet blocks by performing a first FEC encoding on a plurality of source symbols, each of the plurality of first FEC packet blocks including at least one source packet and at least one repair packet for repair of each of the at least one source packet, generating a second FEC packet block by performing a second FEC encoding on the plurality of first FEC packet blocks, the second FEC packet block including at least one repair packet for the plurality of first FEC packet blocks, and transmitting the second FEC packet block that includes, in header information of each of the at least one source packet and the at least one repair packet.

The method of providing a multimedia service includes collecting user-preference-aware information, device-capability-aware information, and network-aware information, generating a packet according to a correlation among the user-preference-aware information, the device-capability-aware information, and the network-aware information, and providing a multimedia service according to the generated packet.

Abstract: A method for creating content in a broadcasting system that provides an Internet protocol (IP) based multimedia service, the method comprising combining multiple assets into a package, the multiple assets being transferred from an upper layer and having multiple contents, and adding configuration information for multiplexing the multiple assets to the package and then transferring the package to a lower layer, wherein the configuration information comprises a list of assets contained in the package, composition information including information about relationships among the multiple assets, and a transport characteristic relating to delivery paths of the multiple assets.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving a packet in a broadcasting and communication system are provided. The method and apparatus allows a receiver to recognize data in a packet lost due to data loss occurring in a network. To this end, Forward Error Correction (FEC) control-related information is generated, a packet including the generated FEC control-related information is generated, and the packet is transmitted. The FEC control-related information includes at least one of FEC configuration-related information and FEC encoding configuration-related information.

Abstract: Disclosed is an inter-entity coupling method for protecting content in a broadcast environment including a broadcast network and a terminal, the broadcast network having a Broadcast Service Application (BSA), a Broadcast Service Distribution (BSD), and a Broadcast Service Management (BSM), the inter-entity coupling method including performing, by the terminal, a registration process for obtaining a group key for the terminal; after the registration process is completed, performing, by the terminal, a service joining process for requesting service joining, and receiving, by the terminal, a Rights Object (RO) about the content from a message, which is received in response to the request, based on the obtained group key; obtaining a traffic key by using the RO, if a traffic key message is received after the service joining process is completed; receiving encrypted content in the terminal; and decrypting the encrypted content by using the traffic key.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for providing a MultiCast and BroadCast Service (MCBCS) in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system are provided. The method includes receiving a message comprising information relating to a broadcast channel which carries a service guide, from a Base Station (BS), receiving service guides relating to one or more service providers over the broadcast channel using the information, when the received service guides are fragmented service guides having a certain size, generating a unified service guide by reassembling the fragmented service guides and when one service provider is selected, filtering only a service guide of the selected service provider in the unified service guide and displaying the filtered service guide in a display. Thus, the channel transition time can be reduced.

Abstract: Provided is a method for receiving a broadcast service in a digital broadcasting system. The method includes receiving a Service Guide Delivery Descriptor (SGDD) over a network, the SGDD providing signaling information related to reception of the broadcast service, extracting the signaling information from the received SGDD, and analyzing the extracted signaling information, receiving a service guide for reception of the broadcast service based on the analyzed signaling information, and receiving the broadcast service based on the received service guide.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving encryption information in a mobile broadcast system providing broadcast service (BCAST) are disclosed. In the mobile broadcast system, a broadcast (BCAST) Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) unit comprises a transmitter for transmitting a Registration Key Material (RKM) request message for requesting delivery of an RKM for registration of the BCAST service of a terminal to a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) unit managing subscriber information of the terminal, and a receiver for receiving an RKM request response message from the BSM unit. The RKM request message includes an identifier (ID) of the BCAST service, and the RKM request response message includes the ID of the BCAST service and the RKM. The transmitter transmits a Long-Term Key Message (LTKM) request message for requesting delivery of an LTKM provided to the terminal during subscription of the BCAST service to the BSM unit.

Abstract: A service provision method in an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network is provided. A service request message is transmitted from a first user terminal to a second user terminal for requesting a service. The service request message includes global identifiers (IDs) allocated to the first user terminal and the second user terminal. A service response message is transmitted from the second user terminal to the first user terminal. A service session is established between the first user terminal and the second user terminal, when the service response message is received by the first user terminal.

Abstract: A roaming service method in a mobile broadcasting system and a system thereof are provided. A terminal receives a service guide from a corresponding visited service provider (Visited SP) when the terminal moves to a roaming area. The terminal transmits a roaming request message for requesting a purchase item allowable for individual services to a home service provider (Home SP) based on the received service guide. Upon receipt of the roaming request message, the Home SP negotiates roaming availability and allowable scope for each individual service with the Visited SP where the terminal is located, based on the roaming request message. The Home SP transmits the roaming availability and allowable scope for the individual service, negotiated with the Visited SP, to the terminal.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting a multimedia frame through a heterogeneous network in a broadcast system supporting a multimedia service based on an interne protocol are provided. The method includes generating header information including a frame identifier distinguishing a multimedia frame and information measuring a quality of a connection service between network layers and end-to-end network capabilities, and combining the header information and multimedia data to configure the multimedia frame.

Abstract: A terminal and method for receiving a broadcast service by the terminal in a broadcast system are provided. The method includes performing a registration procedure for subscription and reception of the broadcast service through a Browser And Content Mobile Broadcast (BSCAST) Subscription Management (BSM) responsible for managing subscription information; receiving a Long Term Key Message (LTKM), including key information for encryption of the broadcast service, generated from the BSM; receiving a completed Short Term Key Message (STKM), the completed STKM being generated by performing Message Authentication Code (MAC) processing on a partially created STKM; receiving, from a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) which is responsible for transmitting the broadcast service, an encrypted broadcast service which is encrypted by a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) for deciphering the broadcast service; and deciphering the encrypted broadcast service by the TEK obtained using the LTKM and the completed STKM.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for generating a Short Term Key Message (STKM) for protection of a broadcast service being broadcasted to a terminal in a mobile broadcast system. The method includes transmitting, by a Broadcast Service Subscription Management (BSM) for managing subscription information, at least one key information for authentication of the broadcast service to a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) for transmitting the broadcast service, generating, by the BSD/A, a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) for deciphering of the broadcast service in the terminal and inserting the TEK into a partially created STKM, and performing, by the BSD/A, Message Authentication Code (MAC) processing on the TEK-inserted STKM using the at least one key information, thereby generating a completed STKM.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting/receiving encryption information in a mobile broadcast system supporting broadcast service (BCAST) are provided. In the mobile broadcast system, a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) manages subscriber information of a terminal, and transmits to a BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) a first delivery message including a Registration Key Material (RKM) provided for registration of the broadcast service of the terminal and including at least one service or content's identifier. The BSD/A transmits to the BSM a first delivery confirmation message including information indicating success/fail in receipt of the first delivery message, and transmits the RKM to the terminal.
