  • Patent number: 10782518
Abstract: In one aspect, a light module is disclosed, which includes a housing providing a hollow chamber extending from a proximal end to a distal end, and a lens positioned in the hollow chamber, where the lens has a lens body comprising an input surface for receiving light from a light source and an output surface through which light exits the lens body, said lens further comprising a collar at least partially encircling said lens body. The light module further includes at least one shoulder on which the lens collar can be seated for positioning the lens within the housing. A light source, e.g., an LED, is coupled to the hollow chamber, e.g., at its proximal end, for providing light to the lens. In some embodiments, an optical window is disposed in the hollow chamber and is optically coupled to the output surface of the lens such that the light exiting the lens passes through the optical window before exiting the light module. In some embodiments, the shoulder can be formed as part of the housing.

  • Patent number: 10775955
Abstract: A design application allows an end-user to define an engineering problem, and then synthesizes a spectrum of design options that solve the engineering problem. The design application then generates various tools to allow the end-user to explore that spectrum of design options. The design application allows the end-user to compare various attributes of each design option, and to filter the spectrum of design options based on those attributes. In response to end-user selections of certain design options, the design application identifies other similar design options, and then displays these design options to the end-user.

  • Patent number: 10726943
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method for determining a patient-specific probability of disease. The method collects clinical parameters from a plurality of patients to create a training database. A fully unsupervised Bayesian Belief Network model is created using data from the training database; and, the fully unsupervised Bayesian Belief Network is validated. Clinical parameters are collected from an individual patient; and, such clinical parameters are input into the fully unsupervised Bayesian Belief Network model via a graphical user interface. The patient-specific probability of the healing rate of an acute traumatic wound is output from the fully unsupervised Bayesian Belief Network model and sent to the graphical user interface for use by a clinician in pre-operative planning. The fully unsupervised Bayesian Belief Network model is updated using the clinical parameters from the individual patient and the patient-specific probability of the healing rate of an acute traumatic wound.

  • Publication number: 20200222792
Abstract: An automatic card shuffler to shuffle eight decks of cards (or less) and deal a round of Baccarat. The automatic shuffler comprises two pre-shuffle bins, each receiving approximately four decks of cards wherein the pre-shuffle bins are spaced apart from one another with card slides directing to a card-receiving area. Cards are randomly selected from the cards in each of the pre-shuffle bins and propelled onto the card slides directing the cards to the card-receiving area. Once a sufficient number of buffer cards (e.g., seven) have been deposited into the card-receiving area, a card flipper moves the seven cards against a face plate of an integral dealing shoe. A buffer-holder member maintains the buffer cards against the face plate for dealing as the card flipper returns to a home position to receive more shuffled cards while buffer cards are being dealt in a round of Baccarat.

  • Publication number: 20200050736
Abstract: In various embodiments, a stylization application generates designs that reflect stylistic preferences. In operation, the stylization application computes characterization information based on a first design and a trained machine-learning model that maps one or more designs to characterization information associated with one or more styles. The stylization application then computes a style score based on the characterization information and a target style that is included in the one or more styles. Subsequently, the stylization application generates a second design based on the style score, where the second design is more representative of the target style than the first design. Advantageously, because the stylization application can substantially increase the number of designs that can be generated based on the target style in a given amount of time, relative to more manual prior art techniques, the overall quality of the design ultimately selected for production can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20200051333
Abstract: In various embodiments, a stylization subsystem automatically modifies a three-dimensional (3D) object design. In operation, the stylization subsystem generates a simplified quad mesh based on an input triangle mesh that represents the 3D object design, a preferred orientation associated with at least a portion of the input triangle mesh, and mesh complexity constraint(s). The stylization subsystem then converts the simplified quad mesh to a simplified T-spline. Subsequently, the stylization subsystem creases one or more of edges included in the simplified T-spline to generate a stylized T-spline. Notably, the stylized T-spline represents a stylized design that is more convergent with the preferred orientation(s) than the 3D object design. Advantageously, relative to prior art approaches, the stylization subsystem can more efficiently modify the 3D object design to improve overall aesthetics and manufacturability.

  • Publication number: 20200050710
Abstract: In various embodiments, a workflow application generates and evaluates designs that reflect stylistic preferences. In operation, the workflow application determines a target style based on input received via a graphical user interface (GUI). Notably, the target style characterizes a first set of designs. The workflow application then generates stylized design(s) based on stylization algorithm(s) associated with the target style. Subsequently, the workflow application, displays a subset of the stylized design(s) via the GUI. A stylized design included in the subset of stylized design(s) is ultimately selected for production via the GUI. Advantageously, because the workflow application can substantially increase the number of designs that can be generated and evaluated based on the target style in a given amount of time, relative to more manual prior art techniques, the overall quality of the stylized design selected for production can be improved.

  • Patent number: 10430525
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for reconfigurable spaces. One of the methods includes identifying plan information relating to a space under evaluation. Constraints related to structures associated with the plan information are identified. Input regarding uses or elements to be included in a reconfigurable design for the space is received. A library of elements for inclusion in the space is evaluated, including determining one or more reconfigurable elements that satisfy the received input. A first configuration of a reconfigurable element is determined including a first placement in a first design associated with the space, and the first design in accordance with the first configuration is presented. A second different configuration is determined, including a second placement in a second different design associated with the space, and the second different design in accordance with the second different configuration is presented.
