  • Patent number: 9035203
Abstract: A high voltage (HV) interface housing is provided that includes an assembly of levers within the housing that detect whether or not the HV lines are coupled to the interface housing. If the HV lines are not in place, the lever assembly prevents the interface cover from being fully installed onto the interface housing, thereby preventing the HV interlock loop switch from being closed. As a result, when the HV cables are not in place, the HV interlock loop switch prevents power from being applied to the HV circuit. If, however, the HV lines are properly positioned within the interface housing, the levers of the lever assembly automatically retract, thus allowing the interface cover to be fully installed onto the interface housing. In this state, the interface cover closes the HV interlock loop switch, thus closing the HV interlock loop and allowing power to be applied to the HV circuit.

  • Publication number: 20140227151
Abstract: A method and system for improving the quality and quantity of a soluble salt recovered from the supernatant produced when concentrated solutions are mixed to precipitate an insoluble salt are disclosed. Liquid residual, or supernatant, contains salt that is reusable in the regeneration solution of ion removal devices such as ion exchange or electrodialysis metathesis (EDM). The disclosed embodiments include a method for concentration and purification of salt. NaCl is recovered in a truly Zero Discharge Desalination (i.e., ZDD) process. The ZDD process utilizes reverse osmosis (RO) or nanofiltration (NF) for the primary desalination of groundwater that has high concentration of CaSO4 and utilizes EDM to separately remove calcium and sulfate ions from the RO or NF concentrate so that water recovery can be improved. The recovered NaCl is reused in the EDM.

  • Patent number: 8721343
Abstract: A ski instructional apparatus and method for teaching young children that allows for dry land training of a student on skis. The apparatus includes a pole that the student straddles. The pole has a cross piece that extends behind the students legs and beneath the buttocks and handlebars for the student to hold onto. Pulling the pole forward causes the cross piece to push the student from behind so little or none of the student's arm strength is needed to pull the student on skis along a dry surface. The tips of the skis are connected by a tether and a line attached to the tether is connected to the pole. The arrangement allows the instructor to move the student forward and, at the same time, to move the ski tips one towards the other or allow the tips to move apart by respectively raising or lowering the pole.
