  • Patent number: 6867955
Abstract: An arc discharge protection apparatus to prevent arc discharge from occurring in a high voltage output zone caused by abnormal conditions includes an electrode plate to absorb high voltage arc discharge signals released by a voltage boosting unit in the high voltage output zone. A voltage switch unit receives the high voltage arc discharge signals absorbed by the electrode plate and transforms to low voltage arc discharge signals. A rectification unit receives and rectifies the low voltage arc discharge signals and outputs an arc hybrid wave. A trigger unit detects the arc hybrid wave and outputs a trigger signal to stop operation of the control unit or driving unit, thereby prevents arc discharge from causing damage to the surrounding elements resulting from accumulation of heat or sparks.

Abstract: A microfluidic pump driven by thermoacoustic effect is mainly composed of a thermoacoustic device, a fluid-storing tank, and at least one microchannel, etc., wherein the thermoacoustic device may convert thermal energy into acoustic energy. Pressure fluctuation and velocity fluctuation with high frequency are generated by the acoustic wave. According to the high amplitude pressure fluctuation, the microfluid with high moving velocity emitted through microchannels. Since there is no movable part arranged in the thermo-acoustic generator. In the meantime, it indirectly drives the working fluid located in the fluid-storing tank by the manner of indirect contact. So the present invention may be applied in the non-conductive fluid so as to greatly extend its field of application. Moreover, the characteristics of the fluid won't be influenced by the heating process as well. The present invention is indeed a microfluid-driving device that has inventiveness and high application value.

  • Publication number: 20040240242
Abstract: An integrated power supply apparatus for information appliances includes a power supply input unit, a rectification unit and a voltage boosting unit. The previous design of transforming low voltage to high voltage through a voltage boosting unit (inverter) is changed to transforming to medium voltage through the rectification unit then is transformed to high voltage through the voltage boosting unit. Therefore loss on the low voltage power supply is eliminated, and performance may increase from 64% to about 80% or more. Thus the low voltage power supply module that otherwise should have extra power and greater watts may be shrunk and power supply efficiency may increase.
