  • Publication number: 20050193317
Abstract: An error correction code generator uses an additional static random access memory (SRAM) or a multi-symbol encoder to improve the encoding efficiency. During the encoding operation, the number of the data access of the dynamic random access memory (DRAM) with the row address switching can be reduced considerably via using the additional SRAM or multi-symbol encoder. Hence, the efficiency of the data access of the DRAM is improved and the encoding time of the error correction code generator is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050156563
Abstract: An inductive charger is adapted for a portable electrical devices or information products and connects with a rectifier for charging. The inductive charger includes a hollow carrier, at least a coil surrounding an outer surface of the carrier, fixed magnets and at least a sliding magnet. The carrier has a pair of end portions opposite to each other, and the fixed magnets are respectively located on the end portions of the carrier. N poles and S poles of the fixed magnets are oriented coincident with each other. The sliding magnet is located between the fixed magnets, and N pole and S pole of the sliding magnet is opposing to N poles and S poles of the fixed magnets. When the carrier is driven, the sliding magnet moves back and forth between the fixed magnets due to magnetic repulsion of the sliding magnet, which changes flux of the coil thereby producing induced electromotive force.

  • Patent number: 6920598
Abstract: In a system of communication, a sending node sends a message to a receiving node, which NAKs unsuccessful transmissions. The sending node screens the NAKs to determine if they were sent before the receiver could receive previous transmissions of the same data NAKed. One screening technique is based on an estimated round trip time of a message. Another alternate technique looks a flag in the NAK that synchronizes the sender and the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20050142919
Abstract: A socket connector for carrying an integrated circuit package includes an insulative housing, a stiffener surrounding the housing, a load plate pivotably assembled with one end of the stiffener and a load lever pivotably attached to the other end of the stiffener. The load plate defines a pair of pressing portions. Each of the pressing portions defines a wider part and a narrower part. During the rotation process of the load plate, the wider part firstly presses a pressing point of the IC package. A critical point, on which the wider part firstly presses, is ascertained that a distance from the critical point to a center of the IC package is approximately {fraction (5/24)} of the entire length along the same direction. The pressing point is within a range from the critical point to the center of the IC package.

  • Patent number: 6891852
Abstract: A method to adjust the burst transmission duration time, in a high speed digital wireless communication system, to provide sufficient time for the transmission of data when all the data is not available at the time of transmission. According to the method of the invention, after the burst transmission is begun, the burst is maintained active as additional data is selected within a known time period following the previous detected data packet and the detected data is appended to the active burst transmission. The invention further terminates the burst duration when no additional data is detected within the redefined time period following the previous detected data packet.

  • Publication number: 20050094755
Abstract: A digital sum variation (DSV) computation method and system is proposed, which is capable of determining the DSV value of a bit stream of channel-bit symbols to thereby find the optimal merge-bit symbol for insertion between each succeeding pair of the channel-bit symbols. This DSV computation method and system is characterized in the use of a Zero Digital Sum Variation (ZDSV) principle to determine the DSV. This DSV computation method and system can find the optimal merge-bit symbol for insertion between each succeeding pair of the channel-bit symbols in a more cost-effective manner with the need for a reduced amount of memory and utilizes a lookup table requiring a reduced amount of memory space for storage so that memory space can be reduced as compared to the prior art. This DSV computation method and system is therefore more advantageous to use than the prior art.

By using CCVD, CACVD or any other suitable deposition process, epitaxial films having pore-free, ideal grain boundaries, and dense structure can be formed. Several different types of materials are disclosed for use as buffer layers in high temperature superconductors. In addition, the use of epitaxial thin films for electrolytes and electrode formation in SOFCs results in densification for pore-free and ideal grain boundary/interface microstructure, Gas separation membranes for the production of oxygen and hydrogen are also disclosed. These semipermeable membranes are formed of high-quality, dense, gas-tight, pinhole free sub-micron scale layers of mixed-conducting oxides on porous ceramic substrates. • Patent number: 6820213
Abstract: A fault-tolerant computer system includes first and second central processing units (CPUs) producing essentially identical data output streams, a voter delay buffer having a first FIFO buffer and a second FIFO buffer, and an I/O module connected to the CPUs. The I/O module includes a comparator for bitwise comparing the CPU data output streams. The first CPU data output stream is transmitted to peripheral devices if both CPU outputs remain substantially identical. Otherwise, if the comparator indicates differences, queued first and second CPU data are routed to the first and second FIFOs respectively, and subsequent data are retained in respective CPU buffers. While the CPUs continue processing, ongoing diagnostic procedures attempt to identify one or the other of the CPUs as malfunctioning and the remaining CPU as correctly-functioning. If the resulting diagnosis is inconclusive, the CPU having the lower rate of error correction is identified as being correctly-functioning.

  • Publication number: 20040219931
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for estimating mobile station location in a wireless communication system. At initiation of a call or a page response, a mobile station of the system sends an access request signal to a primary base station. The primary base station responds with an access acknowledgment which may be intentionally delayed such that the mobile station increases its transmit power level. The primary base station then transmits a channel assignment message to the mobile station. The mobile station responds by transmitting a location signal in the form of a known user-specific traffic preamble at the higher transmit power level. The primary base station intentionally delays sending an acknowledgment of the preamble, such that the mobile station transmits the preamble for a longer period of time than it would otherwise.

  • Patent number: 6810030
Abstract: A method for allocating utilization of multiple carriers in a wideband CDMA transmission system first determines the carrier utilization/interference levels for each of the multiple carriers. Based on the carrier utilization/interference level, carrier assignments are allocated on an unequal basis. The allocation of the carrier assignment biases the selection of the carriers away from higher utilized/interfered carriers. An apparatus for implementing the method is also described.
