  • Patent number: 8868773
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for efficiently distributing video content. A peer-to-peer network and a content distribution network are used in combination to distribute video content. A content distribution network relies on servers distributed across the Internet to achieve high quality content delivery at a high cost. A peer-to-peer network distributes content among peers without incurring server side cost but may experience poor performance. The peer-to-peer network and the content distribution network are leveraged in a manner that achieves high content delivery and low cost by allowing the peer-to-peer network to serve as much content as possible while using the content distribution network to bootstrap the content in the peer-to-peer network and using it as a fallback whenever the peer-to-peer network has insufficient bandwidth, insufficient quality or when the missing piece of video content in the video buffer of the client device has an immediate deadline.

  • Patent number: 8774023
Abstract: A system and method are provided for identifying a change point in a set of data. The system performs the method by receiving a set of data. The data indicates a plurality of performance measurements from a measurement point in a network. Each of the plurality of measurements represents a single type of performance measurement made at the measurement point at each of a corresponding plurality of points in time. The method also includes dividing the set of data into a plurality of data points in a chronological order. Each data point has a value corresponding to the performance measurements. The method also includes ranking the data points in an ascending order, calculating a cumulative sum for each of the data points, calculating a change score for the set of data points. A change point is identified in the data set if the change score exceeds a predetermined confidence level.

  • Publication number: 20140179735
Abstract: A variety of benzofurans and indole derivatives some with an alkynyl linker are disclosed herein. These compounds are not highly charged at physiological pH and have good bioavailability characteristics. These compounds exhibit selective or at least preferential affinity for the active sites of various sub-sets of protein tyrosine phosphatases. Some of these compounds are excellent inhibitors of Mycobacterium protein tyrosine phosphatase B (mPTPB) a protein tyrosine phosphatase expressed in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and characterized as a virulence factor in the causal agent of tuberculosis. Accordingly, many of these compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof are useful for the treatment of diseases such as tuberculosis.

  • Publication number: 20140164566
Abstract: A method for disseminating content over an overlay network having a plurality of routers in communication with providers and consumers of content is disclosed. A router in the overlay network receives a content descriptor corresponding to a query for content from a node, and generates a subscriber interface list based on the query for the content. The subscriber interface list is transmitted to a plurality of subsequent routers in the overlay network, wherein a content identified by the subsequent routers that correspond to the query will be routed to the router based on the subscriber interface list. The router receives first and second documents corresponding to the query for the content from the node. If the second document is the duplicate, the router deletes the second document and transmits the first document to the node or if not the router transmits both the first and second documents to the node.

  • Publication number: 20140092058
Abstract: An electronic device includes a main body and at least one wireless touch panel. Each wireless touch panel includes a touch-sensitive module, a processing module, a wireless energy receiving module, and a first wireless communication module. The wireless energy receiving module receives electromagnetic energy from the main body and converts the received electromagnetic energy into electric energy to power other function modules of the wireless touch panel. The touch-sensitive module produces touch signals in response to a user's touch operations, and the first wireless communication module sends the touch signals to the main body to activate corresponding functions of the electronic device. The first wireless communication module also receives wireless control signals from the main body, and the processing module activates functions of the wireless touch panel in response to the wireless control signals.

  • Patent number: 8649377
Abstract: A method and system are described to multicast with an adaptive dual state. The system receives multicast traffic over a membership tree including a first plurality of nodes connected in a first topology destined for a plurality of multicast members of a first multicast group. Next, the system determines a rate of multicast traffic that exceeds a predetermined threshold based on the receiving the multicast traffic. Next, the system generates a dissemination tree including a second plurality of nodes connected in a second topology to reduce a number of hops to communicate the multicast traffic to the plurality of multicast members of the first multicast group. Finally, the system forwards the multicast traffic to the plurality of multicast members of the first multicast group over the dissemination tree.

  • Patent number: 8649382
Abstract: Distribution of content between publishers and consumers is accomplished using an overlay network that may make use of XML language to facilitate content identification. The overlay network includes a plurality of routers that may be in communication with each other and the publishers and consumers on the Internet. Content and queries are identified by content descriptors that are routed from the originator to a nearest router in the overlay network. The nearest router, for each unique content descriptor, generates a hash identification of the content descriptor which is used by remaining routers in the overlay network to provide the appropriate functions with respect to the content descriptor. In particular, this allows all routers in the overlay network except the nearest router to properly route content without processing every content descriptor.

  • Patent number: 8542636
Abstract: A system and method provides an electronic content to a vehicle from access point(s) within a network using a controller. The controller divides the electronic content into one or more files wherein each file contains at least one packet, and generates two or more random linear combinations of the packets within each file. For each file, each random linear combination of the packets is replicated to a different access point within the network. The electronic content is provided to the vehicle using at least one of the different access points. The controller can also determine a set of nearest trajectories for the vehicle in a location database that match a recent location history for the vehicle. For each determined nearest trajectory, one or more mobility trajectories are determined for the vehicle, and a set of access points are determined that correspond to the determined mobility trajectories for the vehicle.
