    Abstract: There are provided a method for hydrogenation of a phthalate compound. According to the method for hydrogenation of the present invention, a hydrogenation reaction is performed in a multi-pipe type reactor in a state in which a viscosity of only a liquid-phase phthalate based raw material is lowered, such that a yield of a hydrogenation reaction process may be improved, and operation stability and economical efficiency on a commercial scale may be improved by hot spot control. According to another method of the present invention, long-term activity of a catalyst used in a reaction is maintained, and performance of the catalyst may be improved, such that stability and economical efficiency of a hydrogenation process may be improved.

    Abstract: A method is implemented by a computing device to provide traffic-aware virtual machine (VM) placement onto physical servers of a data center where the placement takes incremental VM job arrival and physical server heterogeneity into consideration. The method forms a graph including a new VM node, an existing VM node, and an edge between the nodes, where the edge is assigned a weight that represents a traffic demand. The method marks the existing VM node as belonging to one of the physical servers, adds dummy VM nodes to the graph, adds pseudo VM nodes to the graph, connects nodes belonging to a same physical server using an infinite weight pseudo edge, runs a balanced minimum k-cut problem algorithm on the graph to thereby divide the graph into sub-graphs, and maps the new VM to one of the physical servers based on the division of sub-graphs.

The method also includes forwarding the downlink packets to the downstream user device through a wireless connection. The method includes receiving a request at a network device to migrate a data set, and sending a signaling packet from a first data center toward a first in a series of circuit switching devices to reach a second data center, where the signaling packet includes metadata containing transmission selection and characteristics of the data set, where the signaling packet is processed through the series, each of which configures its forwarding path based at least on the metadata of the signaling packet. The method continues with waiting for a period long enough to allow each of the series to configure its forwarding path, where that circuit switching device releases the configured forwarding path after the migration duration. The method continues with sending the data set following the transmission selection of the signaling packet after the period expires.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an improved double patterning method for forming openings (e.g., vias or trenches) or mesas on a substrate. This method avoids the wafer topography effects seen in prior art double patterning techniques by ensuring that the substrate itself is only subjected to a single etch process. Specifically, in the method, a first mask layer is formed on the substrate and processed such that it has a doped region and multiple undoped regions within the doped region. Then, either the undoped regions or the doped region can be selectively removed in order to form a mask pattern above the substrate. Once the mask pattern is formed, an etch process can be performed to transfer the mask pattern into the substrate. Depending upon whether the undoped regions are removed or the doped region is removed, the mask pattern will form openings (e.g., vias or trenches) or mesas, respectively, on the substrate.

In an embodiment, geographic and relationship information for a plurality of users is acquired. The plurality of users may belong to one or more networks. The acquired information is transformed into a graph. A first plurality of clusters is generated with a first clustering algorithm. A second plurality of clusters is generated by iteratively examining pairs of the first plurality clusters, and swapping nodes between the examined clusters if it will reduce a total cut weight of the graph and locate each pair of nodes within a defined maximum distance from the centroid of the target cluster. In an embodiment, a method uses a joint analysis approach based upon characteristics of a plurality of existing networks.
