Abstract: Electronic Credit Card (ECC) is an electronic device that enables transmission/reception of data and/or digital information to/from a host computer via a Terminal Station (TS). TS includes Teller Machines in supermarkets/shopping complex, Automatic Teller Machines (ATM), EFTPOS devices and proprietary transceiver devices developed by Creative On-Line Technologies Limited for PC interface. It provides latest financial information including balances on its display unit. Keypads (1) enable PIN (personal identification number) entries so that an ECC is operational. Information Display Unit (2) including an LCD (liquid crystal display) screen or other display screens provides visual information. ENTER key (3) confirms a transaction. It is also used to activate an ECC when a PIN is keyed. Audio Transducer (4) confirms entries made on keypads (1). Audio Transducer is also used to activate a financial transaction via a telephone.

Abstract: A method of providing a print preview of a print document allows a user to preview the print document on a user interface (or a registration window) of a printer driver, thereby allowing the user to intuitively recognize a print preview function and execute the print preview function without being confused by menus associated with the print preview function. The method includes selecting a print menu in an application program related to the print document to print the print document. A printer driver is executed to display a print window on a screen of a computer executing the application program when the print menu is selected on the application program. An additional print preview selection message window is displayed on the screen to instruct a user to select whether or not to invoke a print preview window when a confirmation button is pressed in the print window to transmit a print command to a printer.

Abstract: An amplifier circuit includes an operational amplifier and a compensation circuit. The operational amplifier includes an amplifying stage for amplifying an input signal to generate an amplifying signal; and an output stage coupled to an output node of the amplifying stage for receiving the amplifying signal and generating an output signal according to the amplifying signal. The compensation circuit is coupled to the output stage and the amplifying stage for generating a compensation signal according to the output signal, and feeding the compensation signal back to the output node of the amplifying stage for compensating the amplifying signal.

Abstract: Methods for depositing a microcrystalline silicon film layer with improved deposition rate and film quality are provided in the present invention. Also, photovoltaic (PV) cell having a microcrystalline silicon film is provided. In one embodiment, the method produces a microcrystalline silicon film on a substrate at a deposition rate greater than about 20 nm per minute, wherein the microcrystalline silicon film has a crystallized volume between about 20 percent to about 80 percent.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for testing large area substrates is described. The large area substrates include patterns of displays and contact points electrically coupled to the displays. The apparatus includes a prober assembly that is movable relative to the large area substrate and may be configured to test various patterns of displays and contact points. The prober assembly is also configured to test fractional sections of the large area substrate. The apparatus also includes a test chamber configured to store at least two prober assemblies within an interior volume.

Abstract: A heat pipe type heat dissipation device for an electronic component comprises a base plate, a cover plate spaced from the base plate, a plurality of parallel fins extending between the base plate and the cover plate and connecting with them. The base plate, the cover plate and each two adjacent fins collectively define a unitary air passage. The base plate has a protuberant portion, which has a convex surface facing towards the cover plate and has a thickness getting small from the middle to two sides in a direction parallel to the fins. The cover plate also has a protuberant portion similar to the protuberant portion of the base plate. A heat pipe connects the protuberant portions of the cover plate and the base plate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for browsing a plurality of broadcast programs are provided. The method includes classifying a plurality of broadcast programs into one or more broadcast program groups with reference to electronic program guide (EPG) information or viewing records of a user regarding the broadcast programs, one-dimensionally arranging the broadcast programs so that the broadcast program groups are one-dimensionally arranged, displaying the broadcast programs and the broadcast program groups on a screen as a graphic image, and allowing the user to change a rule used for forming the broadcast program groups. Accordingly, it is possible to enable a user to effectively browse broadcast programs and to provide the user with a user interface customized for the user by using a simple one-dimensional input method and intuitively utilizing EPG information.

Abstract: A method of forming a buried interconnection includes removing a semiconductor substrate to form a groove in the semiconductor substrate. A metal layer is formed on inner walls of the groove using an electroless deposition technique. A silicidation process is applied to the substrate having the metal layer, thereby forming a metal silicide layer on the inner walls of the groove.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for reselecting a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) in a mobile communication terminal. The method includes requesting the updating of location registration to a target PLMN after storing current system information, determining whether a Subscriber Identify Module (SIM) card is valid when it fails to update the location registration, and resetting the SIM card to a previous state and then, reading the stored current system information to request the updating of location registration in the current PLMN when the SIM card is invalid.

Abstract: A method of managing the storage of a broadcast program in a television receiver having a personal video recorder enables a more efficient use of the storage capacity of a personal video recorder (PVR) provided to the television receiver. The method includes steps of registering the stored broadcast program for automatic storage updating; extracting information for a newly received broadcast program; first determining whether the stored broadcast program is a broadcast program of a category corresponding to the newly received broadcast program, by comparing the extracted information to information of the stored broadcast program; and recording the newly received broadcast program in the personal video recorder according to the first determining and a second determination of whether a storage deletion condition is met for the stored broadcast program.
