    Abstract: A process for manufacturing a fiber or other device with a biocompatible coating for using the fiber in solid phase microextraction (SPME) of a small molecule of interest from a matrix. The process includes the step of coating the fiber/device with a coating of a biocompatible polymer and a solvent having solid phase microextraction (SPME) particles with pores dimensioned to absorb the small molecule of interest from the matrix suspended therein. The process also includes the steps of drying the coated fiber/device to remove the solvent and curing the dried coated fiber at an elevated temperature.

    Abstract: The present invention relates a LED module and a lamp having the same. The LED module includes a substrate, a reflector, a transparent shroud and a fluorescent gel layer. The substrate has an accommodating portion in which at least one LED chip is received. The reflector is provided on the substrate and has an accommodating space in which a first gel is received. The transparent shroud is connected to the reflector to seal the first gel. The fluorescent gel layer is provided between the transparent shroud and the first gel. With this structure, light spot and color temperature of the emitted light become more uniform, and the light-emitting efficiency thereof is improved greatly.

    Abstract: A thermoelectric device is disclosed. The device includes an insulating layer, a first conducting layer configured to induce charge of a first polarity on a first surface of the insulating layer, and a second conducting layer configured to induce charge of a second polarity on a second surface of the insulating layer, the second polarity opposite the first polarity, and the first surface opposite the second surface across a transversal axis, wherein by induction of opposing charges on the first surface and the second surface of the insulating layer spatially separated surface excitons are formed on the first and the second surfaces of the insulating layer, the spatially separated surface excitons generate a counterflow electrical current when a thermal gradient is provided across a longitudinal axis of the insulating layer. The surface excitons could potentially condense into a superfluid under appropriate conditions, giving rise to superfluidic thermoelectric current.
