  • Publication number: 20110108952
Abstract: A memory capacitor based on a field configurable ion-doped polymer is reported. The device can be dynamically and reversibly programmed to analog capacitances with low-voltage (<5 V) pulses. After the device is programmed to a specific value, its capacitance remains nonvolatile. The field configurable capacitance is attributed to the modification of ionic dopant concentrations in the polymer. The ion and dipole concentrations in the ion conductive layer can be modified when the voltage biases applied to the electrodes exceeds a threshold value and can operate as a conventional capacitor when a voltage less than the threshold value is applied. The ion conductive layer will remain at a stable value after the device is modified without applying external voltage. The device has a nonvolatile memory function even when the external voltage is turned off. The memory capacitors may be used for analog memory, nonlinear analog and neuromorphic circuits.

  • Patent number: 7929152
Abstract: A detecting apparatus used in a bonding apparatus including a capillary and a detection camera disposed with a certain amount of offset from the capillary and capable of detecting a press-bonded ball at a bonding portion after bonding. For a pad in which two edges of a press-bonded ball corresponding to two adjacent sides of the pad are definite, the detecting apparatus detects the respective distances between the two sides of the pad and the corresponding two edges of the press-bonded ball, and compares the detected values to determine if these values fall within previously set allowable ranges; and if the detected values are outside the allowable ranges, the amount of offset is corrected so that the press-bonded ball comes within the allowable ranges.

  • Patent number: 7922927
Abstract: A technique is provided for forming a molecule or an array of molecules having a defined orientation relative to the substrate or for forming a mold for deposition of a material therein. The array of molecules is formed by dispersing them in an array of small, aligned holes (nanopores), or mold, in a substrate. Typically, the material in which the nanopores are formed is insulating. The underlying substrate may be either conducting or insulating. For electronic device applications, the substrate is, in general, electrically conducting and may be exposed at the bottom of the pores so that one end of the molecule in the nanopore makes electrical contact to the substrate. A substrate such as a single-crystal silicon wafer is especially convenient because many of the process steps to form the molecular array can use techniques well developed for semiconductor device and integrated-circuit fabrication.

  • Publication number: 20110046013
Abstract: Methods for preparing useful patterns of biomolecules on solid supports employ particle printing lithography techniques whereby suspensions of different bioconjugates are loaded onto portions of a master pattern formed by a series of portions in a support that are compatible with an attractive force to which the bioconjugates respond. The master pattern of the bioconjugates can then be transferred to a biocompatible matrix for biological and medical applications.

  • Patent number: 7803712
Abstract: A mold with a protruding pattern is provided that is pressed into a thin polymer film via an imprinting process. Controlled connections between nanowires and microwires and other lithographically-made elements of electronic circuitry are provided. An imprint stamp is configured to form arrays of approximately parallel nanowires which have (1) micro dimensions in the X direction, (2) nano dimensions and nano spacing in the Y direction, and three or more distinct heights in the Z direction. The stamp thus formed can be used to connect specific individual nanowires to specific microscopic regions of microscopic wires or pads. The protruding pattern in the mold creates recesses in the thin polymer film, so the polymer layer acquires the reverse of the pattern on the mold. After the mold is removed, the film is processed such that the polymer pattern can be transferred on a metal/semiconductor pattern on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20100204466
Abstract: A single-step, one-pot process to obtain zotarolimus and other rapamycin derivatives on large scale is presented, which improves currently available synthesis schemes. In one embodiment, dried rapamycin is dissolved in isopropylacetate (IPAc). The solution is cooled, and 2,6-Lutidine is added, followed slowly adding triflic anhydride at ?30° C. Salts are then removed by filtration. Tetrazole, followed by a tert-base diisopropylethylamine (DIEA) is added to the triflate solution. After incubation at room temperature, the product is concentrated and purified by a silica gel column using THF/heptane as eluant. The fractions containing the product are collected, concentrated, and purified again using an acetone/heptane column. The product containing fractions are concentrated. The product is dissolved in t-BME and precipitated with heptane. The solids are dissolved in acetone, treated with butylated-hydroxy toluene (BHT), and the solution concentrated.

  • Publication number: 20100195002
Abstract: While a user of a digital television gives a command to switch from a first channel to a second channel, a comparison between a first remembered volume of the first channel and a second remembered volume of the second channel is provided. According to the result of the comparison, a currently-used volume of the second channel may be adjusted from the first remembered volume to the second remembered volume iteratively and by step volumes so that the adjustment of the currently-used volume of the later channel is not annoying for the user. Moreover, the user is also allowed in determining a preferred volume to be the currently-used volume of the second channel. While the user of the digital television flips between channels, unnecessary updates in a volume setting of the second channel are abandoned.
