  • Patent number: 6731342
Abstract: The present invention relates to an interpolation technology, in particular to a deinterlacing apparatus and a method thereof which are capable of improving the definition of a picture. The method includes detecting an edge direction comprised in perimeter pixel values with inputs of a pixel value of field data in a field region to be interpolated and intra-field perimeter pixel values, detecting a direction indicating a minimum region matching error in accordance with the detected direction, yielding an intra-field interpolation value in accordance with the detected edge direction and performing an interpolation. This reduces the manufacture cost of a circuit by simplifying the circuit.

  • Publication number: 20040041823
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a flat panel display whose brightness is adjusted based on inputted signals. In the flat panel display of the present invention, the pixels of the display panel are formed with capacitors for temporarily storing voltages corresponding to signals applied to the data lines responding to the scan signals applied to the scan lines and the pictures are displayed based on the voltages stored in the capacitors. Also, the display period controller controls a first period for storing a first voltage corresponding to a gray level of a picture to be displayed in the capacitors during one frame and a second period for storing a second voltage representing a black level in the capacitors, depending on a first signal representing a brightness level. Accordingly, the brightness of a variety of levels can be expressed without having to adjust a level of data voltage.

  • Publication number: 20040021496
Abstract: In a level shifter, first and second PMOS transistors are connected in series between first and second power sources for supplying first high level and low level voltages, respectively, and a capacitor is formed between a contact point of the first and second transistors and the second transistor's gate. A third PMOS transistor is diode-connected and connected between the first and second transistors' gates. When a second low level voltage is input to the first transistor's gate, a second high level voltage is output to the contact point according to an on resistance ratio of the first and second transistors. When a first high level voltage is input to the first transistor's gate, the second transistor is bootstrapped according to the voltage charged to the capacitor so that a first low level voltage is substantially output to the contact point.

  • Patent number: 6674234
Abstract: The inventive thin-film DC-driving electroluminescent device (ELD) is characterized by the thin-film current control layer which is inserted between a thin film phosphor layer and metal electrodes. This kind of ELD has the advantages of having a lower operation voltage than that of the conventional thin-film AC ELD and a higher resolution than that of the conventional thin-film/powder hybrid DC ELD. The thin-film current control layer acts as an energy barrier layer which supplies energetic electrons into said phosphor layer by a field-assistant injection of electron, and a current-limiting layer which prevents an electric field breakdown of said electroluminescent device caused by an excess current flow. The current control layer is embodied with a multilayered thin film laminated by an alternate deposition of metal oxides. In another embodiment, the current control layer consists of both an energy barrier layer and a current-limiting layer, separately formed.

  • Patent number: 6670771
Abstract: In an organic EL display, a scan driver is divided into several scan driving units, and the each scan driving unit includes a plurality of flip-flops and a plurality of buffer units each receiving an output of the flip-flop as an input. The flip-flop includes four NOR gates and the buffer unit includes an OR gate composed of a NOR gate and an inverter, and a buffer composed of two inverters. The NOR gates of the flip-flop and the buffer unit receive a clear signal and are composed of PMOS transistors. When the clear signal of high level is applied to non-operating ones of the scan driving units, outputs of the NOR gates become low level, and thereby, it is possible to remove static currents generated in output terminals of the NOR gates.

  • Publication number: 20030231152
Abstract: Disclosed is an image display apparatus having, in every pixel, a light-emitting element such as an organic electro-luminescence (EL) element of which the brightness is controlled by a current. The image display apparatus includes transistors that form a current mirror in the pixel and using a pixel structure having two scan lines, so as to select pixels of at least two rows simultaneously, distribute the current applied to the data line to the pixel for recording display information and the adjacent pixel, and record the display information on the pixel of no more than one row among the selected pixels. This drastically increases the current for driving the data line and decreases the size of the transistors that form the current mirror in the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20030179164
Abstract: In a display, capacitors are charged with first precharge voltages at the time of applying selection signals to previous scan lines. A data driver divides a plurality of data lines into a plurality of groups each of which consists of at least one data line and applies corresponding data voltages to the data lines of respective groups sequentially. The display further includes a precharge means, and such precharge means applies second precharge voltages to data lines of at least one group before selection signals for selecting scan line are applied to the scan line connected to the pixel circuits and stops application of the second precharge voltages before corresponding data voltages are applied to the respective groups. In this way, it is possible to solve the problem of poor images due to charge redistribution of the capacitors caused by previous data voltages stored in parasitic capacitors.

  • Publication number: 20030161242
Abstract: A clamp driving device of a compact disk player for an automobile is disclosed. When a disk is loaded and moved to the center of a turntable, a selective arm is rotated by the loaded disk and thus a sensor lever is moved forwardly. A checking piece of the sensor lever is disengaged from a hook piece of an idle arm, and the idle arm is rotated upwardly, thereby raising an idle gear. The idle gear is engaged with a cam gear to rotate the cam gear. A transmission bar transmits the turning force of the cam gear to a locking lever to move the locking lever forwardly. By the forward movement of the locking lever, a supporting pin of the locking lever is separated from a clamp arm, and thus the clamp arm is lowered by a spring. The disk is pressed at its upper surface by the clamp, thereby preventing deviation of the disk. The device can fulfill all clamping operations by mechanical components and without using electrical components.

  • Publication number: 20030161240
Abstract: A disk guide device of a compact disk player for an automobile which is conveniently used regardless of a size of a disk by enabling only one mechanism to drive any of different disks is disclosed. A clamp arm, which is hingedly connected at its rear part to a main body, is provided at the left side of its upper surface with a pusher arm to be rotated. The clamp arm is provided at the right side of its upper surface with a locker arm and a selective arm to be rotated. The clamp arm is provided at its right side with a stopper for selectively stopping rotation of the selective arm. Since the device can drive an 80 mm disk as well as a 120 mm disk by itself, there are economical and practical advantages. Since the guide arm guides a disk while moving linearly, it is possible to achieve favorable operational smoothness and decrease of failure rate.

Abstract: A phosphor emits blue color with high luminance and high color purity. The phosphor is fabricated by growing the host material of MX including a II group element (M=Ca, Sr, Zn, Ba or Mg) and a VI group element (X=S or Se) by reacting an M-precursor with a compound including the VI group element, and adding Pb2+ ions into the host material as light-emitting center ions by forming a PbX thin film through a surface saturation reaction between a Pb-precursor and H2X at a reaction temperature higher than a decomposition temperature of the Pb-precursor, wherein the Pb-precursor is a metalorganic compound in which Pb is covalent-bonded with an organic functional group.

  • Publication number: 20020130969
Abstract: A motion-adaptive interpolation apparatus and method are disclosed. After an image signal is received and horizontal directional inter-frame motion information of a field to be currently interpolated is estimation, and interpolating is suitably performed based on the motion information. According to one aspect of the present invention, a basic unit image region is set for a pizel to be interpolated, a block matching error (BME) is obtained by moving the basic unit image region at certain intervals in a different direction, a linear interpolated pixel value is detected in consideration of the block matching error, and a final interpolation value is calculated and outputted by applying a rule and filtering based on the linear interpolated pizel value. Thus, a picture quality is improved after de-interlacing, and a circuit for implementation of the operation is simplified, so that a unit cost can be reduced.
