  • Publication number: 20030025230
Abstract: Calender with a roll stack and process for arranging rolls in a roll stack of a calender, the calender comprising two end rolls in a press plane and a plurality of middle rolls between the two end rolls. At least one of the middle rolls has an elastic surface and has a displacement (x) relative to the press plane, the size of the displacement (x) being selected based on a wavelength of a critical natural frequency within the roll stack. The end rolls and the at least one middle roll define two nips therebetween, the displacement (x) effecting a difference in distance of a fraction of a wavelength on a surface of the at least one middle roll between the two nips. An adjusting device adjusts the displacement of the at least one middle roll on the basis of a preset displacement (x), which depends on the wavelength.

  • Publication number: 20030025233
Abstract: The present invention is a continuous in-line compounding and extrusion system that does not require pre-dried wood flour or pelletized feed stock of cellulosic/polymer composite materials in order to produce net shapes from cellulosic/polymer composite materials. An exemplary embodiment of the present invention utilizes automated loss-in-weight feeders to dispense wood flour and all of the other cellulosic/polymer composite materials into a compounder. The compounder blends the cellulosic/polymer composite materials into a composite melt. The composite melt is continuously devolitalized as it travels through the compounder, a transition chute, and a finish extruder. The composite melt is then forced through a profile die which is fitted to the finish extruder in order to achieve a net shape.

Abstract: A rustication for preparing reveal bands in a precast panel surface. The rustication is made from a one piece elongate body of extruded foam and comprises an upper surface, a lower surface and laterally-spaced sidewall surfaces that extend between the upper and lower surfaces. The lower surface defines a base plane. One or more downward-extending edges that project below the lower surface base plane are included such that they can bend under the application of a load, such as when concrete is poured around it to form the precast panel. Under such a load, the edge scrapes along the top of a panel-forming surface so that an enhanced sealing engagement between the panel-forming surface and the rustication is effected. The rustication can further include a plurality of longitudinally-spaced apertures that extend from the upper surface to the lower surface to facilitate the securing of the rustication to the panel-forming surface, thereby precluding rustication shift once the concrete is poured.

The extruder includes a housing defining a housing aperture and a resin inlet opening in the housing. The extruder also includes a conveyor for conveying the resin through the housing aperture. A lead-in gap at the resin inlet opening collects prematurely melted base resin and holds it for take-up by the conveyor, thus preventing fusing of the resin on the conveyor and avoiding clumping. The extruder can further include a member adjacent the resin inlet opening for inhibiting the heat transfer from the housing and/or the conveyor to the resin at the opening. The flow of resin adjacent the opening is thus improved.

Abstract: A handling device is proposed, in particular for handling boards and foils, with a number of suction grippers located in a plane. A suction plate (10) is provided which is made of a porous material or sintered material and a suction pressure can be applied to said suction plate, where said suction plate is equipped with openings (19) permitting passage of the suction grippers (18). In addition, positioning means (23) are provided so that in a first position setting, the suction grippers (18) extend past the suction surface (15) of the suction plate (10) and so that in a second position setting, the suction grippers (18) are set back into the openings (19) in such a manner that they no longer extend past the suction surface (15) of the suction plate (10).

Abstract: A game suited for children from five years to adulthood. Game apparatus is spider or web shaped electronic device. having a grounding stake. Included are 25 foot spider or web-like attachments, having a corresponding colored lights thereon disposed. A proximity sensor monitors a specified perimeter triggering a signal light and/or buzzer, and, alas, cause for elimination. In play, the game involves two ball tossers who attempt to hit the other participating players with web-like round balls, each tosser having five chances to do so. When a player is hit, that player is deemed “snarled,” and ousted. Players are “snarled” by crossing a perimeter defined by a pre-set proximity sensor. The tosser may replace the “snarled” player. The last remaining un-“snarled” player wins. Other rules are contemplated.

Abstract: The way i look at my invention of an external jack for the seeing impared is simple. The gaming machines all ready have sound in one form or another, wether it is a bell for a jack pot or it is a newer machine with actual words coming out of speakers mounted on the machine. What i am suggesting is the engineers that design the games add verbal sounds to tell the seeing impared what is happening through the aid of an external jack on the machine in which they (the customer) would plug in the headset. In short it allows the seeing impared the enjoyment of playing any machine instead of being limited to just slot machine.

Abstract: The STAR PLAYING CARDS were designed for a New Appearance and to change the way conventional Card Games are played resulting in stimulating interest and excitment. They consist of New Celestial Bodies suits each being a different Color. The Suits are named: Stars, Blue Color; Moons, Red color; Novas, Green Color; and Clouds, Gold Color. There are four “X” Cards in each Deck and each is a different Color to match each Suit. Both the Facesides and Backsides are totally New Designs. The Characters are alpha-numeric with 8 Numbers “2” thru “9” and 6 Letters “E” thru “A” and “X”. Total Card quantity in each deck is 56. The Facesides display a complete Circle Run showing how the Letters join the Numbers and the rank of each Character. A large Suit Symbol and Character is displayed at the center of each Card for easier Card recognition. The Backsides and the “X” Cards' Facesides show an Eclipse Design of all four Suit Symbols.

Abstract: A finger seal for use between a housing and a combustor liner to inhibit air passage therebetween. The finger seal has at least two annular diaphragm members partitioned into a generally continuous inner diameter portion and a segmented outer diameter portion. The segments are finger elements spaced uniformly apart forming gaps therebetween and extend radially outward terminating in a foot portion. A keyhole is formed at the terminus end of the gaps to reduce fatigue and stress of the finger elements. The diaphragm members are laminated together, oriented such that adjacent fingers of one laminate block the gaps of the other, and inserted between a pair of spacers and endplates to be attached at their inner diameter portion. The finger seal is attached circumferentially around the housing and assembled into the combustor liner with the foot portion sealing against the combustor liner interior wall.

Abstract: A shaft sealing device 50 may comprise a first lip 51 and a second lip 55 that contact a circumferential surface 8a of a drive shaft 8. The first lip 51 may include a movable portion (bendable portion) 53 that extends from a fixed portion 52. A plurality of concave portions (recesses) 54 may be defined around the outer circumferential surface of the movable portion 53. Thin portions 59a are defined corresponding to the concave portions 54. Thick portions 59b are defined adjacent to the thin portions 59a and are preferably thicker than the thin portions 59a. Because of the effect of concave portions 54, the stress of the first lip 51 is reduced when the shaft sealing device 50 is disposed around the drive shaft 8. In addition, because the thin portions 59a and thick portions 59b are intermittently disposed in the circumferential direction on the first lip 51, the pressure of the refrigerant gas within the crank chamber 9 acts upon the space 58.

A cable is threaded through the sleeve and the cable and sealing assembly are inserted into the cavity. The sealing assembly skirt has a sealing surface that has the same shape as the interior surface of the cavity. This reduces the likelihood of the skirt wrinkling and creating leak paths when it is in sealing contact with the interior surface of the cavity.
