Abstract: A method and a system are provided for the storage and long-term conservation of commercially produced sulfur. An underground cavity is identified and selected from an earth formation such that its permeability and porosity allow sulfur to be retained within the cavity. An impervious borehole that penetrates the cavity from the surface of the earth through the formation is provided, and the sulfur is then injected through the borehole. Solution-mined, salt-enclosed cavities, located at less than about 3,000 feet of depth are preferred. The stored sulfur is withdrawn, when desired, by injecting pressurized hot water, at 280°-320° F., through a first annular space, created within the same borehole, and pressurized air through a second annular space so as to cause the sulfur within the cavity to melt and rise to the surface of the earth through a centric space within the borehole.

Abstract: A supplemental braking system for use on a towed vehicle being towed behind a towing vehicle, especially an automobile being towed behind a motor coach by a tow bar. The supplemental braking system utilizes a vacuum motor to depress the brake pedal in the towed vehicle and thereby apply the brakes on the towed vehicle. The vacuum motor is powered by a vacuum supplied by either the natural vacuum created by the intake of a gas engine of the towing vehicle, or by a separate vacuum pump mounted on the towing vehicle. The same vacuum that is used to provide power to the vacuum motor is also used to supply a vacuum to the vacuum booster on the power brake system of the towed vehicle, thereby permitting much smaller pulling forces to be used in applying the brakes of the towed vehicle. Control valves are provided to selectively apply the brakes of the towed vehicle when the brakes of the towing vehicle are applied.

Abstract: “ANALOG CONTROL MECHANISM” through which a mechanical movement is converted into an electrical dimension (voltage or current). It uses the principle of the total or partial variation of a magnetic field through the movement of an electrical conducting object relative to a set of energising and receiving coils. The operating principle behind this invention is based on the shielding of the magnetic flux lines that emerge from the poles of an emitting coil and, to a greater or lesser extent, reach a receiving coil. Basically, it consists of an analog control mechanism or sensor which converts spatial movement into an electric current or voltage variation which may or may not be linear. This invention solves the disadvantages of physical wear and tear seen in similar existing devices as there is no contact between the parts that make up the system of control. There are numerous fields of application, including a specific application for controlling the volume of an audio-frequency system.

These permanent magnets (3) are disposed so that the V-shaped surface faces the center of the rotor (2). In this way, the permanent magnets (3) are prevented from sliding on the fitting surfaces (21) of the insertion holes (20), and the permanent magnets (3) can be fixed at predetermined positions. Further, magnetic losses caused by the rotor (2) can be reduced, and efficiency of the motor/generator can be improved.

Abstract: Electrical generators are provided with toroidally wound stator windings electrically connected in series; a high permeability stator core, preferably an amorphous magnetic alloy material, glassy metal or HYPERCO™ 50 laminations; and a rotor. The toroidally wound stator coils and the stator core trap essentially all of the flux fields generated by the stator coils within the stator core. Since there is essentially no magnetic field leaving the stator, there is essentially no flux field interaction with the field generated by the rotor. The reduction of flux field interaction also reduces counter torque.

Abstract: Disclosed is a brushless generator with permanent magnets, which provides high-speed operation, simple maintenance, lightweight, and stable power. The brushless generator with permanent magnets including a main generator with a stator and a rotor; and an auxiliary generator having a stator made of a hollow stator core and a coil wound around the stator core, and a rotor made of a rotor core rotating within the stator core and a coil wound around the rotor core, where wedges and grooves are formed alternatively on the inner portion of the stator core of the auxiliary generator, and permanent magnets are embedded in the body of the grooves and the coil is wound around the body of the grooves. Accordingly, without the use of a brush, a rated load voltage is generated from the permanent magnets of the auxiliary generator, and voltage variations due to load variations are controlled by the windings of the auxiliary generator.

Abstract: A sectioned conductor adapted to accommodate stress forces with reduced internal deformation while forming a conductive path between the rotor coils and a radial stud extending into the rotor shaft of a power generator is provided along with related methods. The sectioned conductor is formed of at least two distinct, spaced apart members that remain electrically connected as the second sectioned member moves relative to the first sectioned member in response to stress forces including those arising from centrifugal force caused by the rotation of the rotor shaft within a stator coil, thermal expansion as caused by temperature increases in conductive components of the power generator, and from vibratory motions of the power generator.

Abstract: A power generator including a rotating disc shaped permanent magnet. One magnetic pole is at the center of the disc and the other is at its circumference. A slip ring is carried on each face of the disc magnet and a crossover connects the slip rings. Fixed brushes and lead wires contact the two slip rings and make electrical connection through the slip rings and the crossover. The rotating disc causes a constant amplitude and direction magnetic field to continuously pass the lead wires and induce a DC voltage and drive a DC current through the lead wires.

Abstract: A disc-type commutator is mounted on a rear end surface of an armature of an electrical rotating machine. Plural commutator segments are radially arranged around a rotating shaft, separated from one another by radially extending commutator gaps. A width of the commutator gap is gradually widened along a radial direction of the commutator, so that foreign particles, such as swarfs or brush dusts, entered in the commutator gap are removed by a centrifugal force generated in rotation of the armature. Further, the width of the commutator gap may be gradually widened along its depth direction so that the width becomes wider at its open end that at its closed end.

Abstract: The present invention relates to embedding a document with multiple watermark components at different printing stages. A document is preprinted to include a first digital watermark component. The document is then reprinted, perhaps with a lower quality printer, to include a second digital watermark component. In some cases the first component provides an orientation signal that is useful when trying to detect the second component. In other cases the first and second components are related or otherwise used to determine the authenticity of the document. In still other cases, the first and second watermark components carry information useful in determining the type of document, watermark-embedding hints and/or personal or serialized data.
