Patent number: 7164348Abstract: With the increasing popularity of multimedia presentations at business meetings and conferences, presenters often wish to be free to move about during their presentation. Moderators at a presentation or conference can use this invention to communicate with the presenters. Podium lights, buzzers, or other obtrusive signals are becoming less and less effective means of signaling during presentations. For this reason, the present invention employs remote controlled tactile notification rather than sight or sound. The moderator might inform the presenter that the allotted time has expired or numerous other messages may be signaled. A predetermined message or code is sent to the presenter by stimulating the presenter's sense of touch.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2002Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Inventor: Eric Smith

Patent number: 7164356Abstract: A battery operated, portable alarm device integrated with a telescoping security bar containing a triggering switch and a tilt sensitive switch, either of which will activate the alarm circuit when an intruder tries to enter a room through the door. A pressure switch, located on the top section of the security bar, which is positioned just under the doorknob shaft, will be pressed in as the door is slightly opened. The opening action, of the door, causes the security bar to rotate through an arc until the distance from the floor to the pressure switch has been shortened and forces the shaft of the doorknob to press against the pressure switch and activates the alarm. The intruder might try to defeat the pressure action of the doorknob, by sliding a thin piece of cardboard or other thin material under the door in an attempt to push the security bar base away from the door, causing the bar to fall.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2006Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Inventor: Israel Zeitz

Patent number: 7164390Abstract: A support for a focusing component is described, in which the component is attached via fasteners to an object and carries elements which may be focused in a preset signal axis. A support plate, which has flexible clips via which the mechanical contact between the component and the object is produced, and which produces the mechanical contact between the component and the object and therefore allows high tolerance compensation of the component during operation, is mounted between the component and the object to which it is attachable.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2001Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Bernhard Lucas, Andreas Reichert

Patent number: 7164391Abstract: An orientation adjusting device includes a base unit, a bracket unit, and an angle-adjusting mechanism. The bracket unit is coupled pivotally to the base unit. The angle-adjusting mechanism includes first and second rotatable units and first and second pivot joints. The first pivot joint interconnects the bracket unit and the first rotatable unit so as to permit rotation of the first rotatable unit relative to the bracket unit about a first horizontal axis. The second pivot joint interconnects the base unit and the second rotatable unit so as to permit rotation of the second rotatable unit relative to the base unit about a second horizontal axis parallel to the first horizontal axis. The telescopic unit interconnects the first and second rotatable units, and is operable so as to vary the distance between the first and second horizontal axes.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2005Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Wistron Neweb Corp.Inventors: Hung-Yuan Lin, San-Yi Kuo

Patent number: 7164393Abstract: A first pattern is created by providing an image and its enantiomorph on opposite sides of an axis of bilateral symmetry and selectively removing elements from the image and its enantiomorph without removing any element from both the image and its enantiomorph. A second pattern is created, being an enantiomorph of the first pattern. The patterns are rotated relative to each other about a common axis with both patterns visible to a viewer, whereby an intelligible pattern having at least one axis of bilateral symmetry is formed by a combination of the patterns at at least one position of the first pattern relative to the second pattern. At other positions the intelligible pattern is present only in an encoded fashion. The encoding is done by ensuring that elements are missing from the first pattern so that it is unable in itself to constitute an intelligible design, the missing elements being supplied when the first pattern is appropriately combined with the second pattern.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2002Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Inventor: John Andrew Leslie

Patent number: 7164394Abstract: A PDP apparatus of good display quality has been disclosed, wherein plural common electrodes and plural scan electrodes that extend in the directions perpendicular to each other are formed on a first substrate and plural address electrodes that respectively make a pair with the plural common electrodes and extend in the same direction of that thereof are formed on a second substrate. A display cell is formed at the crossing portion of each pair of the common electrode and the address electrode and each scan electrode, the lit state or the unlit state of each display cell is selected by applying a scan pulse sequentially to the scan electrode and applying an address pulse selectively to the address electrode in synchronization with the application of the scan pulse, and a sustain pulse is applied to the plural common electrodes and the plural scan electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2002Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Tadatsugu Hirose, Yoshiho Seo, Tomokatsu Kishi, Takahiro Takamori

Patent number: 7164396Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus of driving a plasma display panel that is adaptive for expressing linear gray levels by way of preventing a gray level inversion. A driving method of a plasma display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes allocating a first brightness weight to the sub-fields; and setting a second brightness weight by way of subtracting the amount of light generated during the address period from the first brightness weight.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2003Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Sung Hee Park, Ki Sang Hong, Joong Seo Park

Patent number: 7164397Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use with a discrete bit display system such as a DLP® display system for increasing brightness by using secondary light bits (such as spoke bits that are otherwise wasted). The light available from the secondary bits is distributed over the entire input/output dynamic range by determining the maximum possible output and then defining the dynamic output range from zero to that maximum range in response to the full range of the input signals.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2003Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Gregory S.
