Abstract: According to the present invention, methods and apparatus are provided to improve the link state routing protocol (LSRP) to prevent transient loops during topology changes. Broadcast and shared multicast traffic is dropped upon detecting link state change until neighboring nodes have computed routes using updated link state information. An acknowledgment for a link state record is sent only after route computation is complete using updated link state information.

Abstract: A method and system for performing an access procedure of a mobile communication terminal in a data communication system are disclosed. An exemplary method includes performing an access procedure with a network according to an established access type. The method then determines whether a failure of the access procedure has occurred. A counter value of an access control module is adjusted according to the determined result. Based on the magnitude of the adjusted counter value, the established access type may be abandoned, and another access type may be selected. Therefore, the access procedure suitable for the network environment is executed, such that the probability of success of the access procedure increases.

Abstract: Transmitting non-polluting dummy pilot signals in a wireless communication network permits estimation of the downlink propagation channels between a number of joint transmitters and a lesser number of receivers. With fewer receivers than transmitters, loop back information from the receivers is not sufficient to determine the downlink propagation channels between the transmitters and receivers. For N transmitters and M receivers, (N?M) dummy pilot symbols are transmitted to facilitate downlink channel estimation. Each dummy pilot signal is transmitted to an imagined or dummy receiver that is virtually located such that its downlink channel coefficient vector is orthogonal to those of the real receivers. Transmit pre-filtering based on estimated propagation channels is applied to the information signals for the real receivers and to the dummy pilot signals. The extent to which the dummy pilot signals interfere at each receiver is an indication of mismatch between estimated and actual propagation channels.

A radio base station abstains from sending a frame header to a BSC/ANC for second and following frames of the Idle type and/or the radio base station abstains from sending a frame header to a BSC/ANC for second and following frames of the Erased type. The header may also or alternatively be suppressed for an Idle frame immediately following a Good frame. Indeed, this system can employ two or more wireless modules that employ different short-range wireless protocols, such as IEEE 802.11-type and Bluetooth protocols. The nodes may perform self-discovery to determine modules within the node and associated functionality, as well as identify neighboring nodes to thereby establish a mesh-type network. Nodes can be configured to provide connectivity to the wired network, while others (access points) communicate wirelessly with mobile devices. The nodes may then be interconnected wirelessly, or via wires.

Abstract: A self-adaptive algorithm to enforce fairness executes on nodes in an ad hoc wireless network. Each node is configured to measure or estimate the utilization of the RF channel in its neighborhood and then share this information with its neighboring nodes. In this way, the nodes learn about the traffic flows within their neighborhood and may determine the competing flows. Based on the information about the competing flows, each node then determines the fair share of RF channel usage. The fair share may be computed by dividing the total time that all competing flows use the RF channel by the number of competing flows. Traffic flows using more than the computed fair share of channel access are slowed down to allow more access to the RF channel for flows that are not getting their fair share.

Abstract: A method for branching data in a mobile communication terminal to perform data communication between a mobile station and a network which have media access control sublayers. In a data sending mode, each of the media access control sublayers of the mobile station and network attaches logical channel types based on traffic characteristic information and a radio bearer status to a media access control header contained in data to be sent. Then, each of the media access control sublayers branches the data to be sent, to transport channels corresponding to the attached logical channel types. In a data receiving mode, each of the media access control sublayers determines logical channels corresponding to logical channel types of a media access control header contained in received data. Then, each of the media access control sublayers branches the received data to the determined logical channels.

Abstract: A method for processing a set of data among N sets of data is provided. The method according to this invention first judges whether the set of data is compressed. If the judging result is NO, a first header is generated for the set of data. The first header includes a first indicator for indicating that the first header does not include a compression information field. If the judging result is YES, and the set of data is the first set of data among the N sets of data, a second header is generated for the set of data. The second header includes a second indicator opposite to the first indicator. The second indicator indicates the second header includes the compression information field.

Abstract: Stations like mobile terminals, bases stations and network nodes comprising rake receivers with fingers require relatively many calculations to be performed for despreading a symbol. By replacing despreading multipliers, integrators and dumpers in the fingers by Hadamard transformers (62), chips of several symbols with orthogonal channelization codes can be despreaded simultaneously, and the station and the rake receiver have become more efficient. The despreading section (60 of the finger (34) comprises the Hadamard transformer (62) and a serial-to-parallel converter (61) comprising downsamplers (71-73). The station is a high-speed downlink packet access station (HSDPA) in a universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS), with a number of de-channelization codes used being at least ten percent of a despreading factor used.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for converging time division multiplexing (TDM) communication networks and packet based networks. Signaling may be monitored between TDM network elements by a Convergence Resource Manager (CRM) to identify calls that may be re-directed over a packet network to an end node with another associated CRM; the re-directed call bypassing much of the TDM network. Installation of a CRPd typically does not require any configuration changes to the TDM network such as point codes. A self learning CRM may also be provided so that a routing database may be automatically built. An originating SS7 message may be modified by a self learning CRM to add a Tag which identifies the originating node. As the modified message traverses the SS7 network, any other self learning CRMS in the network report to the originating self learning CRM that the message has been seen.

Abstract: In the transmission and reception of a medium signal, a device in accordance with the present invention reduces a medium signal deterioration generated by a data loss, caused by a bandwidth fluctuation in a wired IP network or a wireless network or by a wireless handover, and minimizes an increase in the amount of processing that is required for the signal deterioration. In a bidirectional medium transmission and reception, the reception side has a control unit 108 that monitors a storage amount of a buffer 111 in which a medium signal obtained by decoding a stream by a decoder 112 is stored, and transmits a control signal to a transmission line if the storage amount of the buffer exceeds or falls below a predetermined threshold, and the transmission side has a control unit 102 that encodes a medium signal and outputs a stream and, if a control signal is received from the transmission line, changes the compression rate of an encoder 104.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for communicating Web-Services (WS) messages. First there is allocated an identical amount of a cache history storage at each sender and receiver device for storing a history of communicated WS message strings. At the sender, there is generated an intermediate data representations of each message being built, the corresponding message string stored in the cache history storage. The message is communicated as a serialized data string according to the built data representation. For each subsequent message to be communicated, the method comprises identifying identical portions in intermediate data representations of a current message being built and replacing each identified portion in message strings with a reference indicator to a location in the cache history storage corresponding to an identical character string portion associated with a prior message that has been communicated.
