Patent number: 7268498Abstract: The inventors found out that in the case of performing a low gray scale display in which a very small amount of current is supplied to a light emitting element, variations in threshold voltages of driving transistors become notable since the gate-source voltage is low. In view of this, the invention provides a display device in which variations in the threshold voltages of the driving transistors are reduced even in the low gray scale display, and a driving method thereof. According to the invention, a gate-source voltage of the driving transistor is set higher in the low gray scale display than that in the high gray scale display. As one mode to achieve this, different power source lines are provided for the low gray scale display and the high gray scale display and their potentials are set to be different.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2005Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd.Inventors: Keisuke Miyagawa, Hajime Kimura

Patent number: 7268499Abstract: A self light emitting device having a function of correcting drops in brightness in self light emitting elements in a pixel portion, and capable of displaying a uniform image without brightness irregularities, is provided. A specific test pattern is displayed when an electric power source is connected, brightnesses are detected by photoelectric conversion elements arranged in each pixel, and then stored in a memory circuit. A correction circuit then corrects a first image signal based on portions which are insufficient from standard brightnesses (brightnesses of normal self light emitting elements at the same gray stale, stored in advance), and a second image signal is obtained. Display of an image in a display device is performed in accordance with the second image signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2005Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Semiconductor Energy Laboratory Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yoshifumi Tanada

Patent number: 7268500Abstract: A control device for multiple lamp currents of a liquid crystal display (LCD) backlight source, comprising an electronic power switch, a transformer, an inverter and an integrated circuit (IC) feedback control module. The transformer has a primary side connected to the electronic power switch and a secondary side having two ends each connected to an end of a set of lamp composed of two lamps. The inverter has three sets of coil connected to the other end of the two sets of lamp. The IC feedback control module is connected between the inverter and the electronic power switch and through which currents flown through the two sets of lamp may be balanced. Meanwhile, the current flown through the inverter is feedback to the IC feedback control module by which a control signal is outputted to the electronic power switch by determining and processing the feedback current, thereby controlling an output signal from the electronic power switch.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2006Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Logah Technology Corp.Inventors: Cheng-Chia Hsu, Yun-Ching Wu, Teng-Kang Chang
