Publication number: 20070215789Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to attributing light emissions to spots a light was scanned over. In aspects, the scanned light includes light capable of increasing light emissions from at least one type of matter. Publication number: 20070215809Abstract: A number of reagent-free infrared spectroscopic diagnostic and analytical methods have been established previously, making use of dry biofluid films. For example, this approach has successfully measured high concentration analytes of serum and urine. However, a number of low concentration diagnostically relevant analytes presently elude detection by infrared spectroscopy. This is due in part to their relatively low concentration and in part to spectral interference by other strongly absorbing constituents. The applicability of the technique would be broadened substantially if it were possible to separate and concentrate, lower concentration analytes, e.g. serum creatinine and urine proteins, from the obscuring presence of relatively high concentration compounds. The invention disclosed achieves this is through microfluidic sample preconditioning based upon laminar fluid diffusion interfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2005Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventors: Colin Mansfield, Anthony Shaw

Publication number: 20070215831Abstract: The present invention relates to an on-off valve provided with sealing means for the control stem. The sealing means comprise a plurality of sealing rings of expanded graphite and a gland device for placing said rings in compression. The sealing means further comprise a further active element arranged on the bottom wall, provided with an expansion room wherein the fluid pressure causes a thrust action towards said sealing ring. Said sealing means distribute the strain state of the compressed rings in an optimum manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Applicant: CARRARA S.P.A.Inventor: Sergio Carrara

Publication number: 20070215833Abstract: A valve for controlling the flow of cryogenic fluid. The valve includes a valve body and a sealing member pivotably mounted within the valve body. The valve also includes an actuator mechanism that pivots the sealing member from a closed position to an open position to allow flow of fluid through the valve body. The sealing member provides a seal against a portion of said valve body to substantially prevent flow of fluid through the valve in the closed position. A linkage connects the sealing member and the actuator mechanism. The linkage is capable of translating the direction of a force from the actuator mechanism to a direction suitable for pivoting the sealing member toward either the open position or the closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2006Publication date: September 20, 2007Applicant: CIRCOR INTERNATIONAL, INC.Inventors: Robert Reinicke, David Schroepfer

Publication number: 20070215834Abstract: Flexible seals for process control valves are disclosed. An example disclosed seal includes a seal for use with a butterfly valve. The example seal includes a substantially flexible ring-shaped carrier configured to be fixed within the butterfly valve and to surround a flow control aperture therein. Additionally, the seal includes a ring-shaped cartridge coupled to an inner diameter of the ring-shaped carrier. The cartridge includes a first portion and a second portion coupled to the first portion to define a circumferential opening to hold a seal ring.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventors: Wade Helfer, David Koester, Benjamin Good, Paul Dalluge, Andrew Olson

Publication number: 20070215835Abstract: A surface treatment solution for finely processing a glass substrate containing multiple ingredients like the one used for the construction of a liquid crystal-based or organic electroluminescence-based flat panel display device, without evoking crystal precipitation and surface roughness. An etching solution of the invention contains, in addition to hydrofluoric acid (HF), at least one acid whose dissociation constant is larger than that of HF. The concentration of the acid in the solution is adjusted.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2002Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventors: Hirohisa Kikuyama, Masayuki Miyashita, Tatsuhiro Yabune, Tadahiro Ohmi

Publication number: 20070215837Abstract: Collections of phosphor particles have achieved improved performance based on improved material properties, such as crystallinity. Display devices can be formed with these improved submicron phosphor particles. Improved processing methods contribute to the improved phosphor particles, which can have high crystallinity and a high degree of particle size uniformity. Dispersions and composites can be effectively formed from the powders of the submicron particle collections.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2007Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventors: Shivkumar Chiruvolu, Weidong Li, Igor Altman, Hui Du, Nobuyuki Kambe, Ronald J. Publication number: 20070215838Abstract: A circuit coupling adhesive which is superior in heat resistance and moisture resistance is provided. The circuit coupling adhesive of the present invention can be used for purposes where high performing reliability is required, since it exhibits satisfactory electroconductive/insulative performance at connection of electrodes, etc. and the characteristics will not be varied so much even after a long period of use in a high temperature and high humidity environment. The circuit coupling adhesive comprises, as the essential ingredients, an epoxy resin, a latent curing agent, inorganic fillers having an average particle diameter of 500 nm or less, and electro-conductive particles. By mix a sufficient amount of inorganic fillers having an average particle diameter of 500 nm or less, the coefficient of thermal expansion can be decreased and the heat resistance and moisture resistance can be improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2005Publication date: September 20, 2007Inventors: Hideaki Toshioka, Masamichi Yamamoto, Kazuhiro Kawabata

Publication number: 20070215839Abstract: The synthesis of thiophene based conducting polymer molecular actuators, exhibiting electrically triggered molecular conformational transitions is reported. Actuation is believed to be the result of conformational rearrangement of the polymer backbone at the molecular level, not simply ion intercalation in the bulk polymer chain upon electrochemical activation. Molecular actuation results from ?-? stacking of thiophene oligomers upon oxidation, producing a reversible molecular displacement that leads to surprising material properties, such as electrically controllable porosity and large strains. The existence of active molecular conformational changes is supported by in situ electrochemical data. Single molecule techniques have been used to characterize the molecular actuators.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2006Publication date: September 20, 2007Applicant: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Patrick Anquetil, Ian Hunter, John Madden, Peter Madden, Anthony Pullen, Timothy Swager, Bing Xu, Hsiao-hua Yu
