Abstract: A baby carrier comprising a harness which includes a baby carrying pouch and which comprises a flexible sheet-like front piece that has an upper edge part which can be folded about a generally horizontal fold axis between a first position in the sheet-like surface of the front piece and a downwardly folded second position against the outer surface of a lower part of the front piece, wherein means are provided for releasably securing a respective side part of the upper edge part of the front piece to a respective adjacent part of the harness in said first and said second positions. The upper edge part of the front piece includes a stiffening that extends from the fold axis in a direction towards the free edge extending generally parallel with sad edge part.

Abstract: A kit for assembling a wearable band arrangement for the wrist or ankle. The kit has a body portion and a band portion. The body portion has a stationary portion and a movable portion. The band portion has attachment media for attaching and detaching to the body portion. The movable portion of the body is movable with respect to the stationary portion, between a first position, where the attachment media of the band portion are connected with the body portion, and a second position, where the attachment media of the band portion are removable from the body portion.

Abstract: A device cradle having a clip assembly for attaching the cradle to an external tube-shaped object. The cradle has an open receptacle sized and configured to removably hold a handheld electric device therein. The clip assembly has a substantially semicircular body with opposing first and second ends. The first end is pivotally connected to a flat surface of the cradle with the clip body. The second end is resiliently biased toward the flat cradle surface so as to form a substantially semicircular clipping aperture between the clip body and the flat cradle surface for releaseably and perpendicularly holding the external tube-shaped object therethrough.

Abstract: A pouch to be worn by a user for displaying a document. A display window 14 is formed by a pair of flexible panels 16 and 18 joined along or adjacent at least two edges. The display window has an opening for removably displaying a document. Both panels may be transparent, enabling the pouch to be reversible. The panels may be of sufficient flexibility and length to largely circumscribe an extremity of a user; thereby providing for the convenient viewing of a large area of an underlying document. One or more ends 22,26 of the pouch may be tapered to emulate the tapering of the underlying extremity of the user. One or more pairs of complementary attachment elements 40 and 44 are provided for securing the pouch in an observable disposition on the user's body. A foldable attachment flap 128 may be provided to extend the length of the pouch.

Abstract: A holder with an integral gripper for transporting a flexible pouch during manufacturing is provided that includes a base plate, and a pair of opposed support members pivotally attached to the base plate. Each support member includes an upper leg member having a gripping means and a lower leg member. A moveable plate is parallel to and spaced apart from the base member by a spring member, and the moveable plate supports an outer end of the lower leg of the support member, so that walls of a flexible pouch are held in tension when the flexible pouch is supported by the gripping means. The walls of the flexible pouch are separated when the support members are pivoted inwardly.

Abstract: Driver and or passenger in a motor vehicle often have need to cool or warm, or to otherwise maintain the temperature of the contents of a container, typically cans or bottles. Option “A” In the cooling mode a substance may be a carbonated beverage, juice, water or other beverage. Option “B” In the cooling mode refrigeration can be applied to cans or bottles of carbonated beverage, juice, water or other beverage. In the heating mode heat may be applied to coffee, tea, milk or baby formula, or other contained liquid. Because of it's semi enclosed form the hemi cylindrical container can also be utilized for small plastic boxes, bags or sacks. This is significant because these forms of packaging have become quite prevalent in recent years. A secure coupling is provided for connecting the hemi cylindrical housing to virtually any air duct in any motor vehicle.

Abstract: A loading apparatus for allowing wheelchair access to a vehicle is provided. The apparatus attaches to the hitch receiver of the vehicle, such as a van, truck or similar vehicle. The apparatus includes three ramp section hingidly connected such that the apparatus does not obstruct vision through the rear of the vehicle but also provides sufficient ground clearance for operation of the vehicle.

Abstract: A caddy device for carrying and organizing articles being transported in a vehicle. The caddy is user-configurable to one or multiple individual compartments for optimizing their dimensions for carrying, holding and organizing articles such as filled shopping bags or food and drinks. Employing multiple dividers the device may be deployed to numerous different positions to adjust the compartment size. An optional cooler bag for transport of cold items is also engagable within the compartments.

Abstract: A hard shell portable case for transportation and protection of devices such as portable satellite terminals. Each case can be equipped with shoulder straps such that it can be carried like a backpack, a set of wheels so it can be rolled, attached to a MOLLE frame so that it can be carried as a backpack and which allows attachment of accessories. The cases and their interiors have been designed to provide protection for the portable terminal, while the exterior is shaped to conform to the shape of a wearer's back.

Abstract: An all terrain vehicle cargo bag assembly includes two or more separate sections which are connectable one to the other or detachable and which enable the inclusion of specially designed inserts in the combination for purposes of transport of various items. The assembly typically includes a central section and first and second lateral side sections attachable to the central section by means of hook and loop fastener straps. A protective flap on one side of the central section covers the connecting straps and also serves as a backrest when the luggage assembly is attached to an all terrain vehicle and appropriately positioned relative to the seat of the vehicle.

The invention provides a tool container in which, in case of changing articles in the tool container, a worker does not have to put his or her hand or hands into the tool container, or the tool container does not have to be turned upside down, which prevents the worker from being wounded in the hand and which prevents taken-out articles from being damaged or scattering. Further articles in a pocket won't fall out inadvertently. While the container being hung on a worker's waist belt, the worker can readily change articles in the tool container. When having sharp articles such as bits, nails, knives and the like in the tool container, a bottom of the tool container won't tear and fall out.

Abstract: A tool holder includes a support member, a tool casing detachably attached to the support member and having a chamber for receiving an insert, the insert is made of a cushioning material and includes a number of cavities for receiving tool members. The cavities of the insert include an inner diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the tool members for clamping the tool members. The support member includes one or more hooks for hooking the tool casing. The tool casing may include a shaft for engaging with the hook of the support member and may include a latch member for detachably securing the tool casing to the support member. A retaining member may be attached to the support member for engaging with a tool device.

Abstract: A device for dispensing a rolled web of material having a plurality of laterally-extending, longitudinally-spaced lines of perforation. The device has a frame for supporting the rolled web such that lengths of the web are removed from the roll in a direction of advancement as the roll rotates. An infeed roller pair is rotatably mounted on the frame. The infeed roller pair provides a nip therebetween for receiving the web from the roll and for moving it forward in the direction of advancement. A pair of delivery rollers is rotatably mounted on the frame in spaced relation with the first pair of rollers. The second pair of rollers receives the web from the first roller pair and provides a nip therebetween for moving the web in the direction of advancement. Motor means drives the infeed roller pair and the delivery roller pair.

Abstract: The invention relates to a wire advancing device for conveying a wire, particularly a welding rod, from a wire supply to a useful point with the aid of conveying means. The wire advancing device comprises a mechanism for adjusting the contact pressure applied to the welding rod by the conveying means. In order to create a wire advancing device which is provided with little slip and can be used for welding rods that have a different diameter and are made of different material, the adjusting mechanism encompasses at least one elastically or plastically deformable pressing means which acts upon the conveying means and is connected to a supply unit. The pressing means is filled with a gaseous or liquid medium via the supply unit in order to adjust the contact pressure applied to the welding rod by the conveying means.

The rotating tool end comprises a shoulder and one or more off-center protrusions. The shoulder has a surface operable to frictionally heat the material of the workpiece. Abstract: Embodiments in the present invention provide a system and method of joining structural members. This method involves aligning the first structural member to a metallic substrate when the first structural member has at least one tapered hole or cavity. A metallic or other like material suitable to cold spraying technology is deposited into the tapered cavity to form a shaped or tapered fastener bonded to the metallic substrate. The shape of the fastener secures the first structural member to the metallic substrate. Additionally, a protective insert may be placed within the shaped or tapered cavity to protect the first structural member during hoe cold spraying deposition when the first structural member is a composite material or other like material susceptible to erosion during the cold spraying technique.

Abstract: Performance of a flux in a soldering process is assessed by monitoring the activity of the flux via its electrical conductance measured using a probe having interdigitated metallic traces and a temperature sensor. The measured conductance-temperature time profile provides information useful for selecting a suitable flux formulation and soldering conditions for a given application, for determining the cause of soldering process problems, and for developing improved flux formulations.

Abstract: A method of welding superalloy components comprising: (a) forming a weld prep groove at an interface of the components; (b) welding the components using a filler material at ambient temperature; (c) covering the filler material and adjacent surfaces of the components with a braze paste; and (d) heat treating the components, the heat treatment including a stress-relief cycle and a braze cycle. A similar process may be used to repair a crack in a nickel-based superalloy component.

Abstract: A flux contains resin having film forming ability, activator, solvent and at least one complex selected from silver complex and copper complex. The flux is used when soldering is performed onto a circuit having electroless nickel plating or further having gold plating on the electroless nickel plating. Allowing a barrier layer of silver or copper to deposit on the surfaces of lands suppresses the diffusion of nickel into the melted solder alloy during soldering, and also prevents phosphorous concentration. This improves the bonding strength of soldering and suppresses the reduction deposition of silver and/or copper to portions other than circuit patterns.

Advertising materials, which may or may not be personalized depending on the recipient, are inserted into the device, which is envelope-like. The panels are made from a heavy duty paper board or corrugated cardboard, or the like, and are foldable. The panels (10) are prefabricated, each having a slot array (70) and two tabs (72, 74). The panels (10) are also cut to form sub-panels. The panels (10) are folded along lines (40) and (42) so that the tabs (72, 74) of one panel (10) can mate with the slot array (70) of the other panel (10). The particular slot selected determines the length of the container. Once the tabs (72, 74) are mated with the slot arrays (70), the bottom sub-panels (62, 64, 66) are folded under and fastened to form the container bottom. The container is filled, and then the upper sub-panels (50, 52, 54) are folded over and fastened creating the container top.

The signatureless payment settlement system has an algorithm for producing a personal authentication value in an IC chip card mounted on the mobile terminal including the cellular phone or PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), and receives a card issuing company key, card issuing information, a card password, an IC chip card produced random number to produce a personal authentication value.

Abstract: A ticket system using an IC card includes a terminal, such as an entrance gate, and a server. A ticket incorporates an IC chip having read-only identification information and the server manages a table of the correspondence between identification information printed on the surface of the ticket and identification information the IC chip has and a table of the correspondence between new identification information and old identification information which are accompanied by a reissue. By distributing data of the correspondence tables to a terminal such as an entrance gate, a cheap ticket system capable of performing mechanical processing can be provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods for binding a smartcard and a smartcard reader are provided. A smartcard is provision to store a first set of credentials for use in traditional transactions such as at a brick and mortar retail store and a second set of credentials for use when performing a transaction using a smartcard reader associated with a user such as an on-line transaction. The user smartcard reader registers with a smartcard issuer server by cryptographically authenticating a secure processor associated with the smartcard reader. As a result of the registration, the secure processor obtains a set of private keys associated with the second set of credentials. When a request for a authorizing a transaction via the user's smartcard reader is received, the smartcard reader cryptographically authenticates itself to the smartcard using a private key associated with a credential to be used to authorize the transaction.

Abstract: A payment card comprises an internal dynamic PIN code generator and a user display for card-not-present transactions. Card-present transactions with merchant card readers are enabled by a dynamic magnetic array internally associated with the card's magnetic stripe. The user display and a timer are triggered by the user or automatically when the user needs to see the PIN code and/or begin a new transaction. A new PIN code is provided for each new transaction according to a cryptographic process, but the timer limits how soon a next new PIN code can be generated and displayed.

Abstract: A point-of-sale system includes a housing, processing device, and radio frequency card reader. The processing device and reader are disposed within the housing, which eliminates external electrical connections associated with the reader. The system may include a monitor and an interchangeable base, which receives the monitor and is selectively removable from the monitor. The interchangeable base houses the processing device. The housing may include the interchangeable base, which also houses electrical connections associated with the RF card reader. A method of displaying point-of-sale information includes providing a housing, disposing a processing device within the housing, and disposing a radio frequency card reader within the housing, thereby eliminating external electrical connections associated with the reader.

Abstract: An interface enables data capture systems, such as electro-optical readers, RFID readers, and imagers operative for capturing transaction data to communicate with a plurality of open applications executed by a host computer. A queue arranges the transaction data processed by one of the open applications, and management data processed by another of the open applications. A queue handler transmits the processed transaction data and the processed management data from the queue to each data capture system without closing any of the open applications.

Abstract: A stored-value card includes a first housing member, a second housing member, and an account identifier. The first housing member defines a chamber, and the second housing member defines a cavity. The second housing member is coupled with the first housing member to place the chamber and the cavity in communication with each other and to enclose the chamber and the cavity between the first housing member and the second housing member. The first housing member and the second housing member collectively define a housing. The account identifier is coupled with the housing, is machine readable, and is adapted to link the stored-value card to a financial account or a financial record. For example, access is controlled through one or more levels of security check, such as a hard security check instead of or in addition to a soft security check. In a hard security check, the user employs an apparatus such as a card or other physical token that can be used to access the wireless gaming device. Such an apparatus may communicate information that identifies the user to the device or may simply be used to produce a signal without which the device is locked to users.

Abstract: In a system for automated management of purchase in a self-service-type sales point, a system management host, at least one trolley, and a plurality of different products are provided in the sales point. The products are individually provided with a barcode, and the trolley is assigned a specific certification number. The trolley is provided with a trolley terminal having a barcode reader and a scale connected thereto for scanning the barcode on a purchased product and weighing the purchased product positioned in the trolley, so that a barcode data and a weight data are obtained. The system management host includes a merchandise databank for storing the barcode data of all products displayed in the sales point, and a purchase record memory for storing a purchase record generated by a microcontroller in the host each time a purchased product is scanned and positioned in the trolley.

Abstract: Technique for ensuring that a device that contains coupons with barcodes will not output a barcode belonging to an invalid coupon to a barcode reading system. The technique avoids validation of the coupon at the time the barcode is provided to the barcode reading system. In the technique, the mobile device responds to a validity event that may affect the validity of a given coupon by inhibiting the provision of the given coupon's barcode to the barcode reading system until the coupon has been validated on the basis of validity information available in the device that is outputting the barcode, and then again permitting the given coupon's barcode to be output to the barcode reading system. In applications of the technique, the coupon may be used n times, the coupon may be shared, or the coupon may become valid after a set of actions have occurred.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electronic voting system and methods, which, among other things, provides increased transparency to the public and verification for the individual voters regarding the tallying of their respective votes. A business method involves the use of general purpose computer hardware together with a software platform, made up of one or more open-source or proprietary certified software programs, including a voting software program. A voting record can be made available electronically, thereby eliminating the need to provide a voter with a paper ballot. A voting record identifier is generated without use of, or reference to, voter identity. The voting record identifier is provided to the voter, such that the voter can access a record of his ballot selections and vote number sequence. In addition, a biometric authentication mechanism is provided to reduce, or eliminate, the potential that a voter is able to vote more than once.

Abstract: A data reader such as for example an imaging reader with a CCD or CMOS imager or the like, that acquires an image of an item to be read. A certain type of sensor has been found to exhibit different outputs depending upon the light intensity level: (1) standard output whereby the sensor outputs a signal corresponding to the image collected and (2) inverted output whereby the sensor outputs an inverted signal when the light intensity highly saturates the sensor. Taking advantage of this inverted output, systems and methods are then employed by the data reader to convert or otherwise re-invert this inverted signal in order to read an optical code that, for example, might otherwise have been above the upper exposure limit of the sensor/reader and thus not decodable.

The system comprises a system housing having an imaging window, and a plurality of coplanar illumination and imaging stations mounted beneath the imaging window in the system housing. The stations generate and projects a plurality of coplanar illumination and imaging planes through the imaging window and into a 3D imaging volume definable relative to the imaging window. An imaging window protection plate is mounted over the imaging window and has an aperture pattern that corresponds to the plurality of coplanar illumination and imaging planes projected through the imaging window, so that the plurality of coplanar illumination and imaging planes are allowed to project through the aperture pattern and into the 3D imaging volume, while the imaging window protection plates protects the imaging window during system operation.

Abstract: A data exchange method and system based on continuous machine-readable code, which transfers data between a first device and a second device. The first device has a display, and the second device has an image extractor. The first device divides data to be transferred into a plurality of blocks and converts the blocks into corresponding machine-readable codes. The second device uses the image extractor to continuously capture the machine-readable codes displayed on the display of the first device, respectively decodes the machine-readable codes to thereby obtain the blocks, and concatenates the blocks to thus obtain the data.

First codes for an object from a wireless recognition tag containing the first codes are received through wireless communication, a second code for the object from an image tag expressing the second code by using a 1- or 2-dimensional image is read through optical contact, and then information on the object is calculated from the first codes and the second code based on their correlation. By doing so, automatic recognition and visibility can be maximized using the hybrid tag combining a wireless recognition tag and an image tag.
